The Infocrats, an emerging political third-party, is rising in the polls and has exceeded the 15-percent benchmark. In accordance with Presidential debate rules, their candidate will be allowed to participate in the second-to-last debate.
Leadership in the Republican National Conservatives party and the Democratic Liberal Socialists party conspire to safeguard their political duopoly and governmental control. They enlist the assistance of the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and the Secret Service.
A group of friends, inseparable since high school, struggle to keep their relationships from falling apart. Liberal and Conservative polarizations have driven a wedge between them. The principles and insights of the Infocrat party begin to unveil how the political duopoly has negatively impacted their lives and relationships.
As events unfold and the characters’ lives intersect, the dysfunctional relationships contribute to the tragedies about to befall.
“The politics of ideology create bonds that are infinitely stronger than the politics of policy. Don’t let Republicans or Democrats fleece you into becoming another one of their ideologues. Be an individual. Think for yourself.” -JJ Smith
The story takes place in less than 24 hours. It begins with a presidential election debate, covering the candidates from the Republican, Democratic and newly-formed Independent parties. While the story does develop the candidates and political & government officials, the story focuses on a group of friends since high school, who have varying political views.
I did enjoy reading this story. It raised some of the problems there could be to have a viable third political party. It was also interesting how the Infocrats (the new Independent party) would tackle some of the hot-button issues. It didn’t delve too deep, which is probably a good thing for these times.
The group of friends and their family/pastor/staff were well developed. Due to their different stands on politics and issues, they have to work hard to keep their relationships going.
There were little plot twists along the way that kept my interest. The ending was unpredictable, which is always good.
Some of the reviews here and on Amazon reflect how divisive American politics are at the moment. For example, there was one reference to Tucker Carson in the story but somehow a reader took this to mean that the author was a Carson hater.
A nice blend of plot, character study and thought-provoking issues. I would read more from this author.
Wild ride of a reading journey which took me by surprise. For me the story developed somewhat slowly but when it hit its stride the momentum continued and brought the story to a very unexpected ending. Thinking about our world today this book should be added to your reading list as it will provide much to ponder. 5 star read.
My thanks to goodreads and the book’s giveaway sponsors for the opportunity to obtain and read a copy of this book.
Thank you to author Martin Medina for this FREE Kindle copy of Infocrats: A Political Thriller. And thanks to Goodreads for hosting the opportunity.
Nicely done. Well written and edited, the story moves along at a brisk pace, and we learn a little along the way. I enjoyed it. A recommended good read.
I haven't been able to bring myself to write a review that would do this book justice. There's just so much to say. But I've got a zillion things going on and a ton of books to wrap up and I want to say a few things about a few of them, so unfortunately in this piece, I don't have the time to go into specifics, but all I can say is I assumed it would have a slanted side to it when I bought it, probably pretty right, but I was tentatively okay with that because I survived William Pierce's books just fine, and I try to be fairly objective. I think there are plenty of liberal/progressive books that are crap. I just think more of the hard right books are crap, and not necessarily because I radically disagree with the authors, but because invariably, most of them display zero signs of any writing skill, any attempt at above fifth grade-level objectivity and maturity, are SO transparent while they seem to think they're clever -- it's almost painful to see them metaphorically whither and die on the grapevine as they cluelessly self implode in their own incompetence, ineptitude and stupidity. Again, I've read a number of books hard right (and this is HARD right) that were well written -- just not many.
I'll put it plainly. This is without doubt, out of the tens of thousands of books I've read in my entire life -- literally tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands -- the VERY WORST (ATTEMPT AT A) "BOOK" I HAVE EVER HAVE THE MISFORTUNE TO WASTE MONEY OR TIME ON! It is impossible to find a worse book. And there are two reasons, already alluded to.
1) The story itself is so beyond stupid, so mystifyingly infantile in its over-the-top stereotypical characterizations of the nice, good patriotic people in their freedom loving and god-fearing lives compared to the (even per colors!) presumably pinko commie or godless or evil atheist or take your pick because per the current "Alt Right" (as in coalition of white supremacists, Neo-Nazis, white nationalists, christian nationalists and white christian nationalists, fascists and hard core fascists, KKK, proud boys (dumbass name), skinheads, David Duke descendants in the form of the Richard Spencers of the world who laughingly view themselves and are passed off as "intellectuals" to equal or better the "liberal elite" they hate so much and that they get the red state sheeple so fired up about, the irony being (I'm about to show my "elitism," and it's not necessarily "liberal" because I think most current Democrats are idiots too) these morons voting for Trump and all of his ilk, the faux-intellectual Spencers, never seem to GET IT that Richard Spencer went to a top 10 university for graduate school -- a private, elite, very expensive, and hard to get into school while the Republicans have been trashing education, especially publication education, for decades! All of these conservative leaders who have been trashing education for the past few decades -- with the exception of Scott Walker -- how many of them do you think lack a college education, more likely an elite college education, quite often advanced degrees from elite, expensive universities as they continue to argue for stupidity -- and it fucking works because the goddamn sheeple have become too stupid to see through what's barely a ruse anymore! It boggles the mind. What boggles the mind further is how a failed "businessman" with 5+ major bankruptcies to his credit, who has never succeeded in any actual BUSINESS in his life and has had to have his daddy and daddy's influence and money bail him out of failures time and time ago -- though now that no bank on earth will work with him anymore, Deutsche Bank will probably make short order of him within the next couple of years cause he's broke as shit and always has been -- he's just a very charismatic, autocratic, fascist con -- but how all of these red staters he would NEVER invite out to a nice dinner, to his home for cocktails, to join his country club, who wears custom tailored suits that cost more than many of these people make in a year ... that they're so fucking stupid that even as he's fucking WEARING the damn suits that costs more than their cars and is so obviously NOT one of them, never was, never will be, despises them personally but needs to use them, all this SOB has to do is put on a cheap, stupid looking farmer's cap (I know the type because all of my paternal family were/are farmers -- I grew up with a million John Deere and similar farmer's caps) in red and starts spouting about making America great again without ever defining what that meant or when America became not great or who was at fault (I think if you look at the facts, statistics, numbers, data, etc., it's an easy case to make since over the past decades, ever Republican administration has caused the deficit and national debt to increase explosively while they scream about fiscal responsibility while the deficit has typically shrunk under Democrat administrations. And of course, pay no tax Republicans who'll lose their jobs if they don't keep underfunding the country by eliminating taxes are hilarious hypocrites as they continue to spout odes to their figurehead, Reagan, who raised taxes EIGHT times and would be kicked out of the party these days and there's so much more, but I've already spent too much time on this) -- that these suckers would overlook the suit and what it represents and look at the idiotic looking, contrasting red cap and think "He's one of us, a man of the people, for the people -- an outsider who is a great businessman who can get this country back on its feet." Don't get me wrong. If there was 1% of truth to that, I'd have voted for him myself, but A) it's 100% bullshit and B) it Should be obvious to the most braindead person alive, yet either isn't or is overlooked by charlatans, simpletons and christian theocratic Taliban power-hungry fascists -- but they don't get it or don't seem to get it and they drink the Kool Aid and think THEY are the "patriots" as they illegally and treasonously try to overthrow a sitting US government through violent, murderous means while having the gall to scream their chosen opponents are "traitors" (??? -- how?) and should be and need to be exterminated (literally heard Spencer say that in a televised interview, as well as saw tons of marauding armed morons shouting such crap into TV cameras) and I'm wondering WTF did the next door neighbors do that was so fucking bad that millions of people are calling for genocide? In this country? Publicly admiring Hitler, Putin, going fascist full charge (though they get ticked when you call them that, the irony being none of them know the technical definition nor the literal history, ideology, tactics and goals of fascism and fascists -- all of which Trump and his ilk were following despite the sheeple having no clue -- I had many public and online debates and helped educate a ton of Americans who had a complete lack of understanding of fascism until provided with opportunity to read, see, research, discuss for themselves the history and reality and it changed their minds pretty quickly).
Way too much time wasted. Okay, the story is poorly written by someone who thinks they are a good and clever writer and who probably could not compete with any 20th century college freshman, high schooler, or when I was a kid, your average middle schooler. Total moron. Terrible content, thinks he has imagination but again, so transparent only the alt righters would think it's good.
Second, say what you want and I readily admit that evaluating "writing" is partially subjective, yet at the same time, it's not as much as many claim it is. There ARE rules -- grammatical rules, rules about plot, character development, various poetic and writing devices employed to strengthen a book, as well as things that have disappeared with the creation and popularity of self-digital publishing -- proofing and editing no longer matter. No longer count. And many people mind it, but too many don't, and they are disappearing as I write this and I don't think I've seen a single such book, no matter what the topic, that wasn't loaded with mistakes and avoidable screwups that 1) make them look stupid and unprofessional (which is generally the case) and 2) if they had just invested in a damn professional proofreader or copyeditor for the half day it would take, there's a good chance they'd have ended up with a book that at least is written correctly with few to no mistakes, and even if their content sucked, at least they might appear to be "professional" writers rather than the lazy, dumb, cheap morons they are -- because who cares about quality, right? In America in 2021? Virtually no one. We want fast food for virtually free, we want instant satisfaction and entertainment and don't want to be bothered with details, by grammar nazis, non-christians (yet they can't even define what a christian is because with an estimated number of 1,000+ christian sects and denominations, they can't even agree on the "right" translation of their own holy book, which very few read or know what's contained within its pages -- and I recently just read it cover to cover for the 18th time, but that's a different story -- all of these complaints can apply to or be the symptom of mental and/or physical laziness, as lack of care about quality in anything, believing whoever tells us what we WANT to hear and hence believe and then following them, and on and on.
The book is horribly written in terms of content that is so terrible that again it boggles the mind AND looks and reads so stupid and unprofessional that those few remaining professionals who still have standards could never take them seri0usly as authors or experts or anything in that example or other similar examples. The book fails in every conceivable way. If it were possible, I would give it the lowest rating of any book I've ever read or seen, but I can't, sadly, so I'll just end by saying even if you are a diehard Trump supporters, anti-liberal, suspicious of traditional education person, there are "better" books (that I would not like, but not despise like this one) for you to read, as in any others, so I strongly recommend you save your money for books published or available through (been many years since I checked places like these out so I don't know what the current status is of such and can't believe I'm even writing this...) some place like National Vanguard, etc., because while I, and many, would and do disagree with virtually everything produced by them and like companies, I have yet to be exposed to anything so stupidly, embarrassingly bad as this effort at a novel. The least recommended book of my life. If you want to be a racist or fascist or genocidal maniac or "patriot" or whatever the hell you call yourself, get some real, actual evil, vile stuff to read that shows signs of an IQ that might be pushing above 80 and might not be chock full of so many obvious mistakes, flaws and just overall patheticness (not a word, I know) on the part of a writer who seems to think he's very clever and possibly gifted. Shit, I can't believe I just wrote that...
At first i was confused. Then the points started to sink in. Would such a party be able to exist in the real world? If so they would need a jj Smith to head it. Being someone in a book we will never see her like and I would not trust anyone else with that kind of power. The members could also not exist. People love to talk to much. Before lv 10 everyone would know and wish to join for wrong reasons.
I write this i was aware of the bias of the writer. He or she highly hates Tucker Carson, for whatever reason. Ignore that as it does not distract form the story.
Thought provoking message interwoven in this fictional account of politics and corruption in governments.. The author brought out several different perspectives of the main problems with the nation currently..
