This book is a continuation of AS THEY WERE. The celebrities cited were important in their own time. There are poets, movie stars, writers, ballet superstars, music composers and politicians.

Some of those portrayed didn't change much from their childhoods until they became famous. Examples include James Dean, Warren Beatty, Jack Lemmon and Marlon Brando. Others changed radically from their younger years, including Cher and Robert Redford.

One of the more interesting photos I found was the picture of Montgomery Clift and his twin sister, Ethel. They were 13 years of age at the time. Dolly Partons photo was a shock; she looked like the girl next door. Janis Joplin's photo was another surprise; her lovely smile doesn't even hint at the outrageous personality she was to become.

We've all seen the surrealistic mustaches of Salvador Dali (Spanish artist), but as a child, he was drop-dead beautiful! Sophia Loren's first communion photo is sweet but her solemn countenance doesn't show the beauty she was to become.

As was the previous book, this is a nostalgic walk down memory lane.
