My husband is dead. All that remains are our memories. My children will never know their father. I will never know how it feels to grow old with him. All I have left are the voices. The nightmare haunting me day and night. Suffocating me. Overpowering me. Promising me it'll never let go. The inner torment constantly telling me I’d be better off six feet under instead of him. But the voices stop when I look up and suddenly he’s all that I see. A beautiful stranger relentless on letting go but scared to hold me close after his own painful suffering. Justin Gatz. My boss. ARC received for review

Rose and Justin have the weirdest relationship. Rose is seriously in her head way too much, and Justin isn't much better. They go through all their angsty drama and then bam cliffy. Who the heck is Luca? And when was Justin in Italy?

I don't know what has just happened...
Well, I will start from the beginning:
Saying that Rose's life is hard would be the understatement of the year.
Justin is Rose's boss. And his life has been tough, too. Both of them are scarred. And even though they may feel they are not ready for each other, life and love have another idea.
I thought I was reading a second chance romance. I thought it was a story about healing after you are broken by life. And suddenly, bam! What was that on the last paragraph??
I need to start the second book right now.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I know all too well the demons she faces, and hell if I can fight hers and mine at the same time.”
.
If you enjoy:
📰Office Romance
📰Slow Burn
📰Suspense
📰Single Mom
📰Dual POV
Then this may be the book for you!
.
Rose and Justin are two broken souls. One a military widow. The other ex military who’s seen too much. Destroyed too much. Both harbouring demons. When they come together those demons seem to quiet. But can they save each other.
.
This book starts off with a heart grabbing beginning. Your pulled into the emotions Rose is feeling. And they are heartbreaking. Rose and Justin seemed to have this connection from the start. Both grieving and feeling lost, so they fight what they feel. Leaving them in this push pull slowburn. Eventually chemistry wins. And it gets steamy.
.
Despite the steam and sexy cover, this story deals with some heavy topics. Trigger warnings below. I did want a little more depth. A little better flow. And didn’t dig Justin. But overall a great storyline with twists I didn’t see coming. This book ends with a cliffhanger that will have you saying ‘what?’. I loved how the authors previous book titles were used throughout the story. Very cool. Check this one out if you enjoy a heavier romance with a military and forbidden feel.

HAUNTING, BEAUTIFUL, TOUCHING, ROMANTIC AND TOTALLY GRIPPING
WOW.......just flipping WOW!!!! Evelyn Montgomery has taken my heart, broken it into pieces then stitched it right back together even stronger than before! Warning ** this book does deal with mental health issues and may contain triggers for some **
This story between Justin and Rose is so raw and real that it reads like an actual account from someone's life. That one of the many things I'm in love with while reading it.
Justin is an ex Navy SEAL and Rose is the wife of a military member who has passed away. Both of these people have served the government and country in different but also similar ways.
Justin is an intelligent, handsome, protective and strong alpha male who is fighting a daily battle within himself but still goes on with his life.
Rose, oh my goodness, poor Rose. She is a widow with two small children, Liam is 4 and Olivia is 6 months. She is strong in some ways, beautiful, caring, smart and a terrific mother. Her husband was is the military and passed away just 7 months ago and now Rose is hanging on by a thread trying to keep her head above water, provide for her kids and keep her sanity.
The two briefly meet in an odd scene but then meet again at what feels like a fated coincidence.
Sparks fly between these two that are both sensual and haunting at the same time. However, they both have so much mental baggage that wears them down that it keeps them from getting closer to one another. The angst that keeps them apart feels so real that I cried through a good portion of this book. Don't get me wrong there are things to laugh at and happiness too but the rawness and grit that has captured them is very intense and riveting.
As the story progresses they do find each other and realize they are better together than apart; however some nasty destiny awaits them and could change the course of everyone's lives. Things get extremely distressing and heart stopping and then........it's a cliffhanger!!!
Not gonna lie I was holding my breath the last few pages and when it just stopped I was pretty mortified; however Evelyn says the second book is coming in just a couple of weeks so I guess that will have to pacify me. This book is so gripping, raw, gritty and haunting but beautiful and romantic at the same time. The combination of all these emotions is, in my opinion, very hard for an author to write but you can feel this story is written from her soul!! I am head over heels in love with this Duet and have only read this first book!! This is Evelyn's best book to date and one of my all-time favorite books ever!! Thank you Evelyn Montgomery for this beautiful work of words, heart and soul that you have written and shared with us.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review and I can't get any more honest than the above.

I have been waiting for this bad boy!! Ughhh it was so worth the wait too.

Oh man right from the beginning I felt for Rose. This poor lady. Being a military wife and mother myself, this is always the worst fear for us. But I felt like she had some underlining problems. Her guilt for what happened to her husband was so heartbreaking. On a day where she was at rock bottom and then some, couldn’t take it anymore and those voices wouldn’t go away, an angel of sorts came racing to her rescue....literally.

Justin was a broken man in his eyes. Nothing ever seemed to go right for him his whole life, from a very young age he had stuff thrown at him that he shouldn’t have to deal with. One day while he was on a run he heard a woman screaming in her house and he didn’t even have to think about it and took off after the voice he heard. He wasn’t expecting to find his safe heaven when he raced into the house looking to save this lady from whatever she was screaming at.

Justin and Rose are quite the pair. But they work, somehow they make it work. The draw they have on each other from the very beginning was too strong that they couldn’t fight it. But what happens when two broken people get together? Will they break or will they fix each other and become stronger?

***This DOES end on a cliffy but you should already have figured it would since it is a duet and it states book 1 on the cover lol.***

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

So it took me a few days to calm down after reading this book because it left me absolutely breathless. I couldn’t get past everything that happened, and then when it ended… I was literally on my knees BEGGING for more words because it CAN’T BE OVER! It’s not, but the cliffhanger is THAT intense.

Evelyn put together a beautifully captivating story that sucked me in until I couldn’t breathe. The hooks she placed in me were so deep that it took me days to recover from the anguish she put me through. As I drew closer and closer to the end of the book, I knew I was in for the ride of my life because there was no turning back.

Rose and Justin are raw and real. They capture you in a way that you didn’t think you could be, drawing you in until you have no choice but to feel every single thing they feel. You are right there with them as they battle their own demons and right there as they help each other battle demons together. But there is so much more than meets the eyes.

If you don’t like cliffhangers, I wouldn’t suggest starting this book until the second book comes out because it ends on a major one. I am not a huge fan of cliffhangers, especially when I don’t see them coming… but I know that Evelyn will make the wait worth it when book two comes.

Four stars for this riveting, angst filled romance that will bring you to your knees and refuse to let you go, even long after you’ve finished.

OMG!!!! This book! The story! The characters! That ending! It was AMAZING! Evelyn Montgomery has done it again! She continues to WOW me with her stories! Every time I finish one I’m like, OMG! That’s my fave but then she comes right back in full force and absolutely wows me with something new, vibrant, and different.

I received an ARC of this book and I couldn’t be more proud to say I was one of the ones who got to witness this book and all its greatness first.

Rose was just as the flower suggests, delicate. She was battling demons that threatened to take over her very existence because she thought she wasn’t strong enough to silence them.

Justin too was batting his own demons that caused him to feel as if everything he touched he ruined! He was a lost soul that needed saving!

They meet at the most unlikeliest of times under strand circumstances, but from them on they are inseparable! No matter how hard they tried to fight it, love prevailed.

The ending to this book is EXACTLY what I needed! I love a good romance novel with a twist, but THIS twist I was not expecting and I welcome it!

Evelyn Montgomery has struck us again with her talent! I’m happy to be a part of her team!

This book was phenomenal. Evelyn keeps amazing me with each new book that she writes. I thought that Amico was my favorite, but this one might have stolen its place.

I could feel Rose's pain. I've never gone through depression myself, but the writing made me feel Rose's suffering. I felt her loneliness and grief over losing her husband. How worthless she felt as a mother, and how much the voices in her head were affecting her life.

Justin was a broken man, and running from his past. He wasn't looking for love or anyone to share his life with when he found Rose. He just wanted to be alone.

I absolutely loved Justin and Rose together. This is a slowburn full of emotion and heartbreaking scenes.

I cannot wait for the conclusion to this duet. The cliffhanger killed me!!! I did not want it to end. I cannot wait to know more about Justin.

I cannot recommend this book enough!!!

This is a great slow burn read and my gosh does it ever put you through the wringer.
Resurrection is a heartbreakingly beautiful story. Justin Gatz is former Military and Rose Gables is a Military widow and both are haunted souls. Neither of them can seem to escape the demons they try to run from but somehow together, the voices are quiet. Justin has been through more than any one somebody should ever have to go through and guilt eats him alive. Rose is left with two small children after she loses her husband and guilt is killing her. They both feel less than because of all the guilt that consumes them and it's only in each other that they find some kind of peace at all. This story is full of emotion and so, so angsty.

OMG this book. I'm dead really it broke me. I need the next one like now I have to know what happens.
Rose, now single mother of two small children struggling to cope with the grief of the lose of her late husband.
Justin a man who has lost it all struggling to fight his own demons.
The two of them find strength, silence from the torment, and love together. In a slow burn that will have you in tears and on the edge of your seat. This story ends in a cliffhanger but have no fear the second book is coming and I for one can not wait. Need it 10 minutes ago. Evelyn Montgomery killed it with this one. Seriously just amazing. I don't give to much away so that's all I'm going to say. It's a must read that's for sure.

In my opinion Evelyn's best work yet. this is Justin and Rose's love story and what an emotional one it is . ...

Rose is at the most emotional state left with kids and a folded flag on the mantel feeling worthless and helpless all at once her reinforcement is about to knock down the door and help her through the tragedy .

Justin is the boss at a publishing office willing to do all he can to help the woman going through emotional distress but she fights him and her mind along the way.

Justin and rose grow closer and discover they both have tragedies will Justin be able to right his previous mistakes ?

how will people take to rose moving on so fast read this slow burning romantic suspense to see !!!

Evelyn Montgomery is one of my favorite authors. Almost all her books hold a special place in my heart, and it seems that Resurrection has made its way there too. The novel is about an ex-navy seal, Justin, and the wife of a now passed away military member, Rose. The story heavily revolves around mental illness, and Montgomery does a great job of not treating it like a joke or belittling it in her writing. Rose is left with her two kids after the unfortunate passing of her husband. She meets Justin, a man who is not only handsome but suffering plenty of internal conflicts. Even though they hit it off, something’s keeping them from finding happiness in one another.

This is my second book by this author but this is my favourite. I love the pull between Justin and Rose, the automatic chemistry, it jumps off the page at you. They both have many demons they are struggling to overcome and are finding comfort in one another. This book will make you cry, laugh, get angry, get happy and then cry some more. It's an emotional rollercoaster that ends on a cliff hanger, I am excited to read the second book. This book does have some scenes that I felt were repetitive but otherwise it is a very good read.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Resurrection. I finished it last night. I am amazed at the breadth of writing Evelyn Montgomery incorporates into this novel. It delves into dark topics of people who have lost BIG loves in their lives. How that affects them and how to go on or try to. This is not a candy-coated romance. I find it more honest in that life is not all rainbows and butterflies. I love how love can not fix what has happened but can fortify you to face challenges head-on. I can't wait for Book 2. I highly encourage you to put this on your TBR list if you can handle real life.

This story is good. I have never read any book like this. This book is about two broken souls. Who have lost someone important in their life. It is about the way they both need each other to overcome their loss. I LOVED this book. My favorite line from this book is
"one day, if you’re lucky, you find someone to help you breathe again. Live again."
This is emotional roller coaster ride . I am sure you never regret buying this.

This is book 1 of The Salvation Duet must be read before reading Awakening.

Justin and Rose are both battling demons of their pasts on a daily basis, but maybe...just maybe they can find solace in one another. This is the beginning of their story. It’s a page turner full of deep, raw, and unbearable emotions packed with hate, love and need. Asking for help is member easy, but nothing is harder than admitting to needing it in the first place.

Grab your copy today to see how these two lovely characters’ story begins.

This book was absolutely amazing and kept me turning the page to see what was going to happen. I felt so much for these characters. Rose experiences a lot of pain and guilt. Just also does, but he was better at masking it. Can two broken souls mend into one? The ending ends on a cliff hanger, so I'm super excited for the next book to come out! Another amazing read!

This was my first book by this author and after reading it, I will be adding the rest to my library. It hits nerves, I think we can all relate to the characters in at least 1 situation in our own lives. I know I can. It brings all the feels to the surface, even made me cry. The characters are well rounded and the story is well told. The pace is not too fast and not too slow, like Goldilocks it's JUST RIGHT. You can't go wrong by taking a chance with this book if you haven't read Evelyn before.

This was a truly amazing story by Evelyn Montgomery, it resonated with me as I've felt darkness in the way that Rose has and this story brings to light the real and genuine struggles people face that both her and Justin have been through in their past but which doesn't define their future 😊 this was one that brought tears and smiles and a hope for happy ever after..

I loved this book! The way it deals with the character's mental health made me so happy. It is hard to find books that address mental health at all much less do it so well. The character development in this book was really well done. I'm looking forward to the next one!

I was given the opportunity to read an ARC of Resurrection by Evelyn Montgomery and this is my honest review.

Wow. So where do I start? I feel like this book went all over the place. The bones of this book had promise. It really did. A women suffering from the aftermath of her husband tragically dying. She hears voices in her head and possibly suicidal. She meets a man whos feels like he kills everyone is gets close too. He’s afraid of getting close to anyone anymore. Both him and the late husband served over seas.

“They teach you how to fight. They never teach you how to come home.”

I thought this book was going to talk about the negative mental impact the war has on both men and women.
It didn’t.
This book was about insta-lust and this odd hot and cold relationship. Justin mentioned he was possessive instantly over the main female character, Rose. Then it was this pulling away and then lust, and pull away... and it just didn’t flow well.

Weeks after meeting Justin, Rose never brings up the voices she hears nor does she receive any professional help at all. She has children and the fact she nearly took a knife to herself is concerning.
But Justin must be magical because he cured her once they had sex 80% into the book and BOOM!! They both fall in love... it was poor character development in my opinion and just didn’t hold my attention. I struggled to continue reading this book.

“Because when he touches me, when he kisses me, when he stands so close I can feel our souls becoming one, I want nothing more than to drown in him, in us.”

First time having intercourse and they vow to love each other forever and lose the condom and in the morning already talking about moving in together.
Here’s the thing. Everyone’s mental health took a complete turn. No one received proper care or attention.
We have random side characters which I see Levi making a comeback as “the bad guy”.
The story leaves off with you thinking, WTF?! Is Justin part of the Italian mafia now?!
This story wasn’t what I was expecting at all.

I wanted emotional, raw, gritty, angst about two people who’s lives were utterly destroyed by the effects of war. Instead we get a man who killed his mom, thinks he killed his daughter, wife commits suicide, had a shitty dad... gets enlisted - no backstory on that. Comes home when his dad dies and insta falls for a troubled woman .. who is a hot mess.
But he magically falls for her and her kids. Theirs deaths and kidnapping and just.. GAH! Too much.
This story was a huge miss for me unfortunately.
The cover is also extremely random and doesn’t go with that book at all.

What I love –the main characters are flawed but endearing; there is angst, tragedy and love but especially understanding and acceptance

What I did not – nothing, but if it had to pick, the ending because I wanted it to continue. by the way, I LOVED the ending.

OMG I really loved this story. I like my contemporary romances to have a bit of grit and OH BOY does this deliver. The story opens with Rose, a single mother of 2, a 4 year old and a 6 month old, and is grieving the loss of her husband, 6 months prior, struggling to support herself and the kids. She is trying to get herself and kids ready because she is staring a new job that morning. Although it is not specifically spelled out or diagnosed, but I think it is a safe to say Rose is dealing with some sort of depression as we are privy to her the voices she hears in her head that berate her almost to the point of suicide. In attempt to quite the voices, she screams out loud just as Justin is walking by her house. Justin hears Rose’s scream and rushing into the house to assist her and once he is sure no one else is in the house he notices the folded flag, and understanding, apologizes, then walks out. Rose finally makes into her new job 10 minutes late and as the fates would have it, Justin is her new boss. As the story unfolds, we find out Justin was in the military and that lost is wife and child in an accident 6 years prior. Although Justin and Rose are very much drawn to each other there is a lot of push and pull between them. This makes sense - Rose because her husband death was so recent and the more, we find out about Justin’s past we see his flawed reasoning for pulling away from Rose as well as his inability to stay away. Although Justin seems like he is put together, he is not, in fact, I think is more messed up than Rose because he as a lot of demons from his past.

Justin and Rose’s journey to each other is so compelling and beautifully imperfect. They are both hot messes, however they help each other with unselfish patience, love and understanding. One cannot help but root for them to have a happy ever after but HA there is that ending. So good, so very good – LOVED IT!!! It is not often that I am surprised, and this surprised me. This book was already a 5 star for me but with that ending if I could, I would give it 6 stars. Bravo Ms. Montgomery!!! I cannot wait for the next book.

I was provided an ARC of this book from NetGalley for my truthful review and the above is my honest opinion of said book.

Before picking up this book, please make not that it contains themes of suicide and suicidal ideation, as well as a cliffhanger.

Don't let this cover fool you, this book might not be what you think it is. I went into this thinking the book would be about two damaged souls that find themselves and have a bunch of steamy sex (there a little) in the process, that's not exactly what happens. This is a story about two people who have been through difficult times which have left them deeply distraught and are learn to face their demons and deep rooted insecurities. Rose and Justin do eventually find each other and themselves, but not before a lot of internal struggling first.

For the majority of this book I felt anxious and had a pit in my stomach, even during the "happier" parts. The characters were constantly lost in their deep internal struggles which honestly made it harder for me to really get lost in the story. There were so many internal struggles/tirades that they felt redundant and flat, which made the overall storyline much slower paced than it should have been. I also found some of the scenarios to be a bit extreme and unrealistic, especially how they met.

I have to give it to the author though, the way that she wrote in the cliffhanger was very wise on her part. I was ready to walk away from the characters and not read the second book, until the ending came. She wrote it in such a way that I couldn't not see what happened next.

*I was gifted a copy of this book by NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinions.*
