The Flash. The Fastest Man Alive. The Scarlet Speedster. Whatever you call him, his most iconic comic book adventures are celebrated in Flash: 100 Greatest Moments.
First appearing in 1940 and represented by a slew of different speedsters, the Flash has been a DC mainstay for most of their publishing life. He’s been part of the Justice League, Justice Society of America, and Teen Titans. Able to break the barriers between dimensions and to reverse time when he’s runs fast enough, to say that the flash is going (and has gone) places doesn’t even cover it.
Speedsters are powered by the speed force and while there are a slew of superheroes faster than the average man in the DC Universe, the particular mantle of ‘The Flash’ has been donned by Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, Wally West, and Bart Allen. Each of them are represented with their own moments to shine and they each bring a new perspective to the character over the Flash’s decades long run.
Enclosed in these pages are 100 moments that chronicle all of the Flash’s greatest feats. Flash’s loves, his children, the allies like Batman and Superman that help him out in his time of need, the Rogues that give him the most trouble, other nefarious speedsters villains like Reverse Flash and Professor Zoom, and many more key characters are paid homage. Flash has been a key player in events like Flashpoint and Crisis on Infinite Worlds, making him integral to understanding the worlds built by DC Comics.
Although Flash has been on the big screen, syndicated television, and cartoons, a lot the iconic moments seen on screens found their origin in his comic books. Whether you need a recap (in a flash) or you’re curious about the comic book events that inspired your favorite TV and movie moments, Flash: 100 Greatest Moments will guide you through all of the Scarlet Speedster’s history: Flashpoint Wally West winning the lottery Returning from the dead Marrying Iris West The Cosmic Treadmill Meeting Editor Julius Schwartz Red Flash vs. Black Flash Defeating Zoom House of Heroes Barry Allen fights Godspeed for the first time Returning Wally West rom the Speed Force Run ins with the Trickster Lace up, strap in, and enjoy Flash: 100 Greatest Moments.

Flash was always one of my favorite superheroes, so I was delighted at how through this reference book was. I have been following his adventures for about 30 or more years, but stopped reading in the 1990s, to deal with other things, such as raising a family, but of course, The Flash continued to have adventures, so it was quite wonderful to be able to dip into all the things that have happened since I first started reading about Barry Allen in the 1960s.
Very comprehensive. Not something you would read in one sitting but more likely dip into when you have the time, like any reference book, so look up that super villain, or when did this or that happen.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
This is a great reference book and with over 300 pages covers so much and gives out so much information. The structure and the way it is divided in terms of the chapters makes it easy to reference material quickly. The book covers the early editions of the story through to the more recent. It is interesting to see how both the artwork and the panel placements have progressed over time. Included are the spin off characters and comics from the original which really does give a marvellous insight into this DC character. I must have reference book for those that are fans of the graphic novel, the history of them, DC comics and The Flash.
This is a well put together attractive book that could serve equally well as reference for a comic book fan or a starting off point for someone new to the character of The Flash. The book charts the characters journey from early appearances to the modern day, including sidekicks, rogues gallery and different incarnations of the Flash himself. I'm fairly well read on comic books and I learned a lot from this so for new readers it will be invaluable!
I would like to thank for NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really wasn't sure what I was going to be expecting when I first picked this up. There is so much Flash history and information, where do you start?! And it's not just Barry Allen, we have Jay Garrick and Wally West who held up the 'Flash' mantle. The book also included snippets about other folks who are a part of the three's lives. It's very hard to write about each of the three and aim to include everything possible. The focus is slightly more towards Barry Allen, but I do believe it gives a comprehensive guide to the Flash. I wouldn't mind this being a volume series, but in general, this book definitely provides a good guide towards the trio who held up the mantle of the 'Flash.' I'd recommend it for beginners who are wanting to learn more about these individuals without having the time to read all the comics and for those who just want a refresher!
A must for any Flash / DC comics fan. Good mix of vintage and modern even though I’m partial to the classics. Layout is good, just wish the explanations of each moment were next to the scanned pages vs. all being written up together on pages before. Overall a nice resource for fans of The Flash.
Thank you to Net Galley and Quarto Publishing Group – Chartwell Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The format of this is strange,as most of the entries aren't moments as such but mini-profiles of various characters from the history of the Flash. Greenberger knows his stuff and this is fun, excellent, fun and informative.

I am a big comic fan and I actually don't know much about the Flash so this was nice to read as I could find out quite a lot throughout these. The book also introduced me to comics that I will now want to read because of the moments they showcased! This book is chaptered which is nice as you can go to any specific moment that interests you!
The book showcases a lot of different artists and writers which has also influenced me to look at other works by new to me authors/artists Rating: 4⭐ Would I Read It Again? Yes and I want to read the future volumes ASAP Would I Recommend it? Yes
