The Map That Came To Life

Rate this book
This book combines entertaining reading with a most arresting form of visual teaching. Two children set out with their dog on a country walk, for the first time using an ordnance survey map to guide them. An enlarged section of the map and a full colour drawing appear on each double-spread opening and illustrate the part of the walk covered by the story on these two pages. Nobody following the story can fail to grasp the relation between the symbols on the map and the things the children see around them. The map, through Mr. Lampitt's remarkable drawings, does indeed come brilliantly to life.
