The book that will change your life forever by life simplification expert Gary Collins. Are you struggling to find your direction in life? Do you believe there has to be a better way?
Why is it so hard to stay healthy, financially independent, and to live your life's purpose? If you've read a lot of self-help books, but still feel lost on this question, you're not alone. In this short, user-friendly guide, best-selling author Gary Collins pulls back the curtain on the subtle deceptions lurking in most self-help books. Most importantly, he reveals the no-nonsense truth about life balance, why it's so hard for so many of us, and how to start living the life you want in the next 90 days.
You'll read this book more than once. You'll use it for years to come. You'll buy copies for all your friends, family and coworkers. Read the first page and find out why!
I still have one more book of Gary’s to read. He is a straight shooter and no political bs. While he may repeat things, the information he writes about and his methods work. So far I have reduced my possessions by half. I will have more to find homes for, as I work on my three legs. You want reality in minimalism and simplicity, he’s good.
This is a good book to start with on a journey of growth and personal development. There are small actionable steps one can take to get started. If you’re ready for a change but feel overwhelmed on how to start then this is your book.
Oh, the irony! Where do I even start with this book? It seems merely to be a commercial for the author's other books in his Simple Life series. Interestingly, the first part of the book reads like a screed against others in the self-help industry, equating them with the snake oil salesman of old. Doesn't he see the irony of lumping himself in with these people? Especially when the book really seems to focus on getting you to buy his other books—not provide the life balance reboot promised in the book’s title. While I might agree that having optimal health, financial security, and a solid purpose in life are worthwhile goals and make for a comfortable and meaningful life, I don't like the approach the author has taken in this book, to merely tease about the topics suggested in the title and subtitle, requiring the reader to buy multiple other books to actually learn his take on the subjects. Also, there is swearing in this book, which I am never a fan of. I never believe it is appropriate in a nonfiction book, especially one that is supposed to be motivating and life-changing—based on the title and subtitle, not on the contents. Skip this book as it offers little actionable, requiring you to buy other ones.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review—obviously.
As an "appetizer" to the Simple Life book series I have to admit my curiosity has been piqued, and I'll definitely be checking out the other books in the series. Author Gary Collins has a wonderfully blunt way of teaching us how to get out of our own way and to evolve into a better version of ourselves. While the information may not be entirely new it is presented in an effective manner and it's one that I'll be recommending to many friends and family members.
