In this 1880s world of steampunk and gears, Henry David works as a tailor and an inventor, though most of his inventions are disasters. Sophie Thomas is a brilliant spy, without Henry’s knowledge, she uses him to root out enemy agents. He senses she has feelings for him, but it is hard to know if her love is genuine or she is merely playing an elaborate game.
He inadvertently creates a duplicate of her, this has an adverse effect on their friendship. Will she ever forgive him for his bumbling? She doesn’t seem to be the long-suffering inventor’s wife he had hoped for. She, on the other hand, feels he thinks too much of their relationship.
When enemy agents kidnap her, it is Henry who holds the key to her fate. In the end, Henry must choose between rescuing Sophie or destroying the enemy’s super weapon, thus ending the war.

I was not wild about this book. I'm having a hard time putting a finger on precisely why I didn't like it. Maybe part of it is the opening scene where there was a catfight, brief though it was, that didn't seem to fit with the story. I felt other elements seemed out of place. I was so looking forward to digging into a steampunk story, as I don't read them that often and I usually find them quite fun. The book does have some action, though, so if you read it, you won't be bored. And perhaps you won't find it to be such an odd combination as I thought it was.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Henry and Sophie: A SteamPunk Romance is a fun read and the first book I have read by this author. I enjoyed this story and found that it had an intriguing storyline. The characters are well developed and likable. The storyline is well written, flows nicely, and has a good combination of intrigue, action, adventure, and a bit of romance. Will Henry choose between rescuing Sophie or ending the war? I am looking forward to reading more books by this author. I read and reviewed a copy of this book with no obligation.
Adventure the steampunk way. I love the adventure and action in this story it made for such a fun read. This steampunk had awesome characters with two having some pretty cool chemistry. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
A SteamPunk Romance that is well written and held my interest throughout. There is suspense, drama, action, and romance between tailor/inventor Henry David and spy Sophie Thomas' story. I enjoyed reading this book the story pulled me in and I was not putting it down until I finished. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Henry and Sophie reads like a book from Victorian times, which is very apt for a steampunk novel. There is a lot of clever dialogue and the author has the reader figuring out the mystery that is Sophie at the same time Henry is. This is a quick read and an unusual novel.
