Journey Into The Mind Of an Islamic Terrorist: Why They Hate Us and How We Can Change Their Minds

How can you know what a terrorist thinks?

The Western media are so busy analyzing who, what, where, when and how that they never answer the question of why. This book is about the why behind Islamic terrorism.

Terrorists have written many books and pamphlets explaining their position, but most westerners are unable to understand them. Dr. Mark Gabriel makes a major breakthrough by identifying the five pillars of radical philosophy- the bedrock beliefs that cut through all radical writings. Dr. Gabriel uses the writings of Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri, and others to show how terrorists justify their actions through the Quran, the life of Muhammad and Islamic history. Finally, Dr. Gabriel describes how earlier terrorist groups were stopped and shows how the world can work together to stop the terrorists of today.

Ignorance is no ally in the struggle against Islamic terrorism.

Go beyond what is happening and find out why it is happening. The struggle against terrorism may seem to be at a stalemate, but there is hope for the future.

Dr. Mark Gabriel was born and raised in Egypt in an Islamic family. By the age of 12, Dr. Gabriel had the entire Quran memorized. He graduated from Al-Azhar University in Cairo and then became a professor of Islamic history at that university. He also served as the Imam (spiritual leader) of a mosque in Giza, where the pyramids are located.

In short, Dr. Gabriel was a highly prestigious figure in the Islamic world when one day he dared to question the authenticity of the Quran. That evening he was kidnapped by the Egyptian secret police and thrown in prison where he was tortured unmercifully for days due to questioning his religion. Miraculously, just as he was about to be executed, he was delivered from the prison by a relative with political connections.

During the next year while unemployed and living with his parents, Dr. Gabriel met a Christian pharmacist who gave him a Bible. That Bible led him to Jesus, and when he read the Sermon on the Mount, he decided to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior. When his father discovered that Mark had become a Christian, he tried to kill him. Running for his life, Dr. Gabriel fled to South Africa where assassins were sent to kill him. Finally he fled to the United States where he was granted religious asylum.

Today Dr. Mark Gabriel is a Christian evangelist. He is also spreading the truth about Islam. He is the author of several books, including a best-seller entitled Islam and Terrorism. He has been asked by powerful governments as an adviser. He also travels the world to speak in churches, conferences and teaching in bible schools on many different topics such as, the Christian perspective on Islam, how to reach Muslems for Christ, Middle East affairs, world religions, end of time according to Islam and Christianity and the role of women in Islam and Christianity.

This book was so biased. He tells you towards the beginning that he has converted from Islam to Christianity and you can tell from pointed comments he makes throughout that he thinks he’s ‘educated enough to make the better religion decision’. That’s how it comes across. Ways he has chosen to translate things, quotes or verses he has chosen or left out - all are incredibly biased. This book is written like a book report. From the beginning I felt like the author had trouble with the actual writing. He doesn’t know how to make it flow. It felt like he just kept stapling facts together to complete his book report. While I wouldn’t argue with some of the main points of the book (like radicalism based on strict interpretation of the Quran), I thought this was an extremely poor portrayal of the information and left out many important aspects of the topic. How was there so much focus on Muslims’ relationships with Christians and almost nothing about those that are Jewish? How is there nothing about Israel? Why such a focus on US Christians? Because that’s who the author relates to.

Terrorism is an occurring issue happening in the United States and other places all over the world. Journey Into the Mind of an Islamic Terrorist written by Mark A. Gabriel, PhD is a book that talks to you about the history of Islam and the extremes and how to stop it. This is a very hard book to read but is highly recommended if you would like to know about the history of Islam.
The main theme of Inside the Mind of an Islamic Terrorist is a safe and efficient way to prevent Terrorism. The author supports this theme by discussing Muslim principles and how they relate to Radical Muslims. In this book the reader learn about the life of Gabriel in Egypt and his life as an Islamic professor and the curriculum he taught before converting Christianity. Readers also learn about the torture someone gets from rejecting the Muslim religion and how the Muslim religion is their reason for every single thing that they do.
I really enjoyed learning about the education of Islam and the way Muslims react to certain things. I disliked how packed full of information was in each chapter because it made it hard to comprehend. I would recommend this book to people who like to learn about history and enjoy educational reading.

This book does a dynamic job of taking the reader inside the mind of the radical Muslim. The value of a book like this is that it will help the Western world understand why radicals are devout in their beliefs and actions. No one is born a terrorist but depending on whom a person follows (God or Allah) can dictate a person's response to a world whose morals continue to deteriorate. I really enjoyed reading this and found it incredibly helpful in understanding a people group that seemed distant to me.

Well researched, well thought out, well written expose of what radical Islamic groups believe and teach. Shows the authentic religious basis for their beliefs and actions. Also includes some good thoughts about how to respond, though I would have liked more in this area.
