4/5 for me
- i had heard great things about this book like “u would cry ur eyes out” kind reviews but for me that didn’t happen. Maybe because i rarely cry over a book, lol. Rest, sure the story was soo damn gripping, cruel & thriller. I was totally invested, and i was saddened by all the sufferings of Nigaar, like she went through hell, & it was beyond cruel. I felt so much for her :( & then how Zimal seeks answers, & the whole sequence of cruel revelations & karma hitting, ahh. I was genuinely baffled at times, but also fsr i could predict what was coming!
I loved the character of Nano so much, she was such a different element of this story, cos we normally never see such characters & how she tried to seek redemption by standing with Nigaar after finding the truth instead of supporting her evil son, i just had so much respect for her character, cos she stood up to her son & was genuinely embarrassed at his upbringing & we never see that, especially with the kind of character she was built to be shown as the ‘elite, easy going, liberal, non-attentive mother’. That was such a plot twist to see her being there for Nigaar like her own mother would.
Definitely a very sad yet engaging read :,)
