Elena Percivaldi, milanese, è storica medievista e giornalista professionista. Collabora con alcune delle principali riviste di alta divulgazione del settore storico come “Archeo”, “Medioevo”, “BBC History” ed è direttore del notiziario “Storie & Archeostorie”. Membro di associazioni e comitati scientifici - tra cui l'Associazione Europea del Cammino di San Colombano – affianca all'attività di relatrice in incontri e conferenze in tutta Italia e in Canton Ticino la curatela di mostre e di eventi, specie sui Longobardi. Ha all'attivo oltre una ventina di libri, molti dei quali tradotti all'estero. Tra questi, “I Celti. Una civiltà europea” (Giunti, tradotto in spagnolo e tedesco), “La vita segreta del Medioevo” (Newton Compton Editori, 2013, varie edizioni, finalista al Premio Italia Medievale 2014 e tradotto in portoghese brasiliano), “Atlanti celesti. Un viaggio nel cielo attraverso l'età d'oro della cartografia” (White Star / National Geographic, 2018, tradotto in inglese, tedesco, polacco, cinese, ceco e slovacco). Altri suoi lavori sono stati tradotti anche in francese e olandese. Nel 2009 ha vinto il Premio Italia Medievale per la sua edizione del classico altomedievale “La navigazione di San Brandano” (Il Cerchio, 2008, prefazione di Franco Cardini). Per le Edizioni del Capricorno sta pubblicando una serie di volumi sui castelli italiani (finora usciti: castelli della Lombardia, della Toscana e dell'Emilia Romagna).
