Jessica and Daniel's Dad makes a tree house for his children. Jessica helps him make it for she likes climbing trees ... and then she enjoys playing in the tree house as she looks down at the house and garden and cows.
Seeing Daniel in the garden she shouts to him to join her but he cannot get up for he says that he is not big enough to climb the tree and he cries. Jessica goes down to help him up and he manages to get into the house.
However his Gran sees him in the tree and is worried that he is too little to be up there. Dad is okay with it for he says that Daniel enjoys playing with Jessica and then, rather out of the blue (but as a preamble for the next part of the storyline), he adds 'Daniel's birthday cake looks good. Thanks for making it Gran.'
In the afternoon Gran and Jessica go shopping while Dad looks after Daniel, whose birthday is on the following Saturday. They look for a present and Jessica spots something she thinks is ideal for Daniel and she persuades Gran to purchase it. What is it? Well, it will help Daniel climb the tree for it is a rope ladder. And on his birthday Daniel uses it and says rather proudly, 'Look at me! Now I can climb up to the tree house like Jessica!'
This is another pleasant little story book by Beverley Randell with lovely illustrations and using large type to make for easy reading for the children.
My kids love this book. My 5 year old says it's "Awesome". They (my 5 year old & my 3 year old) have had me read it to them 6 nights in a row for bedtime!
