About the Authors Leon Edward and Dr. Anum Khan

For Leon Edward, the past 35 years since the tbi left one lingering desire: the need to give something back, a way to provide something meaningful for the families and loved ones of patients who now, or in the future, will face the same painful disruption of their lives and the same long journey he had to undertake such a long time ago.“I want to be clear in the introduction that I am not a health professional as my co author Dr. Khan , but rather an engineer that has had a tbi" - Leon Edward

This book was written by one deeply caring brother for his brothers and sisters suffering the same or even a worse fate after surviving traumatic brain injuries – and with deep admiration and appreciation for their families and caretakers who will help to guide them.

For Leon it has become an ingrained part of his existence to help others enjoy life after suffering serious injuries, even if it only means that he can help others who are disabled or living alone with words of hope, encouragement of inspiration.

Dr. Anum Khan enjoys crafting health content that genuinely helps the readers in a practical and insightful way.

First off, I’m thankful for this book. This gives me reassurance that I’m not alone on this long recovery even years down the road. I have received so different answers from neurologist and I had self doubt. At points I was thinking yeah this is probably just all in my head. While reading this book it really backed-up a lot of the symptoms I currently had and had in the past. This book also gives me the resources I need to point me in the right direction.

This would be a great booklet to give to a family right after their family member sustains a tbi. It is a comprehensive but broad overview of what to expect. Given the title THE ULTIMATE REHABILITATION GUIDE, I was expecting details on rehab techniques. While the information was generally factually accurate, it is not specific at all. Again, a great short read for someone without any medical experience in this area.

The information was good, but it just was not what I was looking for. Alot of what they talked about I had heard about already, but it may be a good book to start with if you are not familiar with TBIs.

I'm very thankful for the authors of this book. After suffering a head injury last year which left me with a brain injury, the loss of two senses and very little help from the medical field I have felt extremely frustrated and lost with the very little help, support and understanding. Most medical people I have encountered either say "it could be worse" or "there's not much we can do". I know it could be worse... I could be dead and yes the help, support is pretty poor and the fact that no Brian injury is the same means I'm lost at sea most of the time and figuring out how to keep afloat...

So books like this are a wonderful resource to me. Which I'm very greatful for.

This book refers to American links for help and support (but in the UK I still found it helpful)
If in the UK the charity Headway has a great website with lots of information.

Important topic

The book covers and important topic because traumatic brain injury or concussion happens to many people and knowing about it and its proper management is crucial. The book gives and overview of the brain injury and nicely explains even the brain structures and they are impacted. Practical advice are given for the acute stage and the long term consequences. Even though the book should not be taken as medical advice, it explains traumatic brain injury well. The rehabilitation process is simplified with a step by step approach. Useful info.

Good overview of brain injury recovery

As a rehabilitation therapist myself, I found this book to be a good overall review of the basics of TBIs and the rehab process. I did note some inaccurate information about which types of therapists treat certain disorders, but the overall review I felt was adequate for caregivers and other non-medical staff to understand what they would need to in order to help their loved ones.

Informative Resource and Guide

A must-have resource for anyone who has questions about TBI. As a healthcare worker, the information in this book, especially the charts, are a useful guide that can be easily accessed and referred to. Needs some formatting work but still easily readable.

There is no holistic approach as title suggests

I suffer from balance issues which was described as side effect in book but no suggestions for recovery. I'm going to delete this book from my library. What a disappointment and waste of my money!

great information

As someone who works in healthcare and takes care of many tbi patients this book hits a lot of great info. Well organized . Not too over the top with medical jargon. I liked the tables and personal stories .

The brain is the center of control for our entire being so it is vital to know how to reset and repair it if injured. Very well layout and comprehensive. Easy to understand also.
