It didn't take a medical degree to know that Josh Weitz was insanely hot, from his swoony grey-green eyes to his dark hair that begs my fingers to run through it.
But he was my best friend, and I was too busy crushing on his roommate--otherwise known as the ‘Wrong Guy’--to notice.
Sure, Josh has always been there for me, and he makes me laugh like no one else can. But it's only when ‘Wrong Guy’ stands me up in Paris and Josh shows up for me, once again, that I start to appreciate all the things I've been missing.
Like the way his eyes crinkle when he laughs, and how he always holds the door for me and the unexpected kiss we share under the Eiffel Tower. He makes me feel that spark I have always longed for.
But trust doesn't come easy for me, and being with him is a risk.
Stacy Travis writes charming, spicy romance about bookish, sassy women and the hot alphas who fall for them.
Writing makes her infinitely happy, but that might be the coffee talking. She drinks a LOT of it.
She's worked as a journalist, camp counselor, TV writer, SAT tutor, corporate finance researcher, education technology editor, and non-fiction author. When she's not on a deadline, she's in running shoes complaining that all roads seem to go uphill. Or on the couch with a margarita. Or fangirling at a soccer game.
She's never met a dog she didn't want to hug. And if you have no plans for Thanksgiving, she'll probably invite you to dinner.
Stacy lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two sons, and a poorly-trained rescue dog who hoards socks. And she's serious about the Thanksgiving thing.
My first read by this author and it was a sweet one. What called me to this book was the friends to lovers trope and the Paris setting and well I was not disappointed on either of those fronts. However, it was hard to get into the book at the beginning for me, the first 40% felt really pointless...you see the heroine pinning for someone and you know from the blurb that that someone is not the hero of the story. So yeah, that whole stretch of book felt pretty pointless to me. The author could have given us a few of those parts as flashbacks while we got the 'here and now' of the story. I feel like that would have been better, made more sense and would have gone smoothly.
Setting that aside, once we get to see the heroine travelling through Europe... that really called to me and I enjoyed it immensely. Specially now in the time we are leaving, it was nice to travel without leaving the safety of my bedroom. I loved watching her exploring the cities and once she got to Paris... ahhh I really want to go there. It was amazing to read Hannah and Josh going on their rendez-vouz exploring the romantic city of Paris and their relationship. I loved that part of the book. It was super sweet, exciting and sexy. Until the whole conflict scene, that one felt totally unecessary to me too. Hannah blew things out of porportion and her resoning made no sense, she acted completely irrationally and she kind of got on my nerves.
Even though there were a couple of things I didn't really enjoy, overall the story was very sweet and it was a nice read. I love reading books where the characters get to travel and take me along with them, it's always fun and nice getting to picture everything through their eyes and there is always something I can add to my travel bucketlist ehe.

Stacy Travis is a new author to me and I found French Kiss to be well written and descriptive with the author certainly brought Paris to life for me.
Hannah and Josh met by accident and quickly became best friends. However it is Maddox, Josh’s roommate who Hannah falls for.
Sadly Maddox is not the man that Hannah thinks he is and when he disappoints her, it is Josh who is there to pick up the pieces. This is a friends to lovers story that was sweetly romantic. It is a story which will challenge you to look inside yourself to realize that sometimes you can’t see the wood for the trees and that’s what happens for Hannah and Josh.
Why are we so blind to love when it's right in front of us?
This author is new to me and with this novel she has won me over and for sure will keep reding her next books.
Her writing is easy to connect and understand.
I loved Hannah and Josh's relationship, it is adorable to see them interact, the connection they have is what most of us are looking for. Hannah is dazzled by a mirage, and is very lucky that when she realizes Josh is there to support her as he always has.
To be honest, there’s parts when I just want to slap Hannah for keep going for Maddox when is so obvious (at least for me, LOL) that she belongs with Josh.
“I wanted to stay right there with him in our little envelope of space on the back of the boat. It wasn’t about finding solace over a broken heart. It wasn’t about Maddox at all. Instead I was fully invested in feelings for Josh that I didn’t even know I had. Because I was so busy avoiding the bad boy in my life I’d completely overlooked the good one.”
This is one of those stories that I love to read, best friends to boyfriends, it's so touching to read Josh with Hannah, I loved them.
I'll be watching what this author writes because I’m definitely keep reading it and recommending it.

Escape to Paris and fall in love with Josh and Hannah in French Kiss! For Stacy Travis’ debut novel, it was amazing and had me hooked from the start.
Hannah and Josh have been best friends since the start of their medical residency. They’ve been through the highs and lows of qualifying to become a doctor together over the past three years, but have never been more than friends, due to both having significant others and Hannah maintaining that she was never attracted to Josh. It was hinted that maybe Josh liked Hannah, but due to Hannah having a crush on Maddox, Josh’s roommate, he assumed it would never happen. Maddox sent Hannah mixed signals all the way through their residency, flirting with her, teasing her and implying how they would be good together, but never acted on it, leaving Hannah in a state of limbo about her feelings for him.
After graduation, Hannah is going to travel through Europe before starting work at a hospital, the last trip of freedom before diving into the medical world full time. Maddox, who is travelling through Europe too, suggests they meet under the Eiffel Tower and see if anything more will happen between them, and give into the mutual attraction after all this time. But when Hannah arrives in Paris to meet him, it’s not Maddox waiting for her under the Eiffel Tower, but Josh. Josh comforts Hannah when she realises Maddox has stood her up and takes her on a trip around the city to see everything she wanted to and to help her forget about her supposed romantic trip. But the more time they spend together and open up to one another in a different way to usual, the attraction between them builds and they begin to see each other in a different light. Can Josh and Hannah make it work now they have finished the stress of medical school and with no other distractions? Or will it all come crumbling down, including their friendship, when secrets are revealed?
I loved how Hannah always referred to Josh as the ‘Mum and Dad’ of the group, never as brother and sister so that made me think she always had underlying feelings for him. Josh was not your typical hero, and that’s what I liked most about him, he was sensitive and sweet. He wasn’t model gorgeous or a cocky player but was so hot when he finally showed Hannah how he’d felt for so long. The flashbacks to throughout their years at medical school were so amazing because it helped you get the full picture of their friendship. Josh and Hannah were so great together, although Hannah put him in the friend zone to start with, it shows that attraction can grow the more you know someone, and a change of setting can help you to see them as something more. Even though they were so comfortable with each other already, I think Paris helped with them realise they could me more than friends, as the City of Love it makes everything so much more romantic. The Paris setting was incredible, I adored how all the street names, restaurants and cafes were mentioned by name, as well as the landmarks and museums. It truly made you feel like you were walking around the streets sightseeing and falling in love with Josh and Hannah.
Such a good plot, keeping you hooked throughout to see what happens next. I loved the twist, didn’t see it coming and was so happy with how it all ended. I read French Kiss in one sitting, it was such an easy, light-hearted read and helped me feel like I was travelling rather than stuck at home! I will definitely be reading more from Stacy Travis, I loved her writing style, especially with the flashbacks and her descriptions of Paris. Sweet, romantic and funny, French Kiss is the perfect friends- to-more romance.

Pour me faire rire.
Hannah is been best friends with Josh as they supported each other through their medical training. Although he is very attractive, she never saw him as more than a friend in large part due to the fact that she only had eyes for his roommate Maddox.
After she finishes school and before she starts her career, she and Maddox make plans to meet in Paris but when Josh was there and Maddox wasn’t, she finally realizes which man she belongs with. As she and Josh spend time together in the most romantic city love is in the air and will these two friends realize they make much better lovers?
I enjoyed the debut story from this author, and I did like the evolution of Hannah’s character over the course of the story.
Letting all the words marinate! <3 Be back with my review . . . If I didn't know this was a debut author, I wouldn't have thought this was the first book from Stacy Travis! I was very quickly lost in this story. Hannah, Josh and friends all met in their residency. I felt like I was living it with them. The long days, hard work and lack of time for friends, but despite being able to see each other often, they did make time for their group of friends. At the end of residency, they had a little time before they each started their new careers. Hannah wanted to go to Europe. She had planned on meeting some friends in Amsterdam and then unexpectedly, one of her other friends wanted to meet up so it changed her plans a little. However, life still threw her a curve ball. The guy that had been her closest friend, was the one that had been there for her. And soon, their relationship shifted. I so enjoy a good friends-to-lovers read and this one was fun to get lost in. I was all in for this read and I look forward to future books from this author!
I loved the relationship between Josh and Hannah. I kept wanting to shake her throughout the book when she kept saying she wasn’t attracted to him because it was obvious they were absolutely perfect for each other. I did not understand why she would want someone so temporary kind Maddox when Josh was someone you hooked and hung onto forever. This was such a sweet friends to lovers romance in the city of love.

French Kiss is a great debut! Overall I enjoyed Hannah and Josh's story even though Hannah's character frustrated me at times. I think this book will do very well!
Friends-to-Lovers is one of my favorite troupes and French Kiss is perfect! Josh and Hannah's story is so sweet! I loved everything about this book! FIVE STARS!!
This is a lovely debut novel for a new writer. If you love Paris, you'll enjoy the detailed background, scenery and atmosphere, making you reminisce on your own experiences in the city of lights ans love.
This was a good book. I would’ve preferred more of the present day than so much being flashbacks at first, but I really liked Josh. I also loved seeing them visit places in Paris I love, especially the Musee Rodin.
This was a good book about two medical students that become best friends. Hannah and Josh meet over buying a tuna sandwich before class one morning and they soon become best friends through medical school. When she meets the hot student, Maddox she is instantly attracted to him but she knows that he’s no good for her because he only dates women for a month at a time. He’s always throwing hints to her like he’s interested but nothing ever happens until the night that they kiss. Josh doesn’t understand how his friend and roommate can have women falling all over him. Hannah and Maddox make plans to have a romantic relationship in Europe. They make plans to meet, but he doesn’t show up. Josh is there with a letter from Maddox. This afternoon is the beginning of two friends becoming lovers and Hannah learning to trust and understand that everything doesn’t have to always be planned out. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you Stacy Travis, you did an amazing job job.
I really enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. I work in health so it was interesting to read about the internship and residency program and the group of friends that formed through it. The character development was interesting in learning about the different depths of each character: their motivations and why people act the way they do. But also realising that things aren’t always that simple and easy to plan for and people are just complicated. This was a nice easy read with characters that you want to support and occasionally slap. I received a free copy of this book from Voracious Readers Only
Romance where you least expect it... right under your nose... loved that it was set in France and that romance can be found when your not looking for it.
Girl meets hot guy and obsesses over what could be. Hot guy is an utter disappointment. Girl realizes her perfect guy was the one she least expected.
Sounds like a common story but this one seems so different. The author's love for Paris shines through and really helps you become immersed in the atmosphere of it all.
You dont just fall in love with the characters in this one.
You fall in love with the place.
*I recieved this novel for free in exchange for an honest review by way of Voracious Readers Only *
A sweet story with a very good underlying message to look around you and not having a plan can sometimes be a good thing. The level of detail when Hannah is in Paris is astounding. I feel like I could refer to this novel as a tour guide for where I should visit and how to get there on a sojourn to France.
This was a great debut of a book. I had a fun time reading it, the way that Stacy had talked about Paris, that made me want to visit all the places she talked about. Josh and Hannah were so adorable the way they meet one another. This was a friend to lover’s romance that I couldn’t get enough of. I recommend this book to everyone.
Very rarely do I dive into unchartered waters, and by this I mean books by unknown (to me) authors. I decided to venture out of my safe zone after reading a promising blurb, from a debut novel, and I’m so very happy I did! I loved everything about French Kiss, a sweet, slow burn Standalone.
This Friends-To-Lovers romance is beautifully written, starring two well-developed main characters, Josh and Hannah both of who were smart, funny, and entertaining. It included some very important secondary characters that were crucial to the story. Set in Paris, the amazing and descriptive writing made it seem as if the City of Lights was another main character in the story; inviting us along for the ride, joining Josh and Hannah at the little cafés mentioned while savoring the garlicy escargots or pains aux raisins so lovingly described. This story was an unexpected treat!
“It’s a forever feeling. I love you. I am one thousand percent, head over heels in love with you.”
Hannah Stein and Josh Weitz were young med students and met their first year of residency and immediately hit it off. From the beginning Hannah had put Josh in the friend zone, she had always been attracted to bad boys and he was an honestly nice guy. Hannah was certain there was no attraction between them, instead they became best friends, and they both dated other people before graduating.
“Josh immediately became one of my favorite people. More than that. He kept me honest, he kept me pointed in the right direction. My true north.”
The one person who caught her eye was a fellow student, Maddox, a handsome flirt and player, who dated a long string of beautiful women. Maddox later roomed with Josh, and he considered Hannah and Josh his best friends. Strangely, months before they graduated, Maddox began to spend hours talking to Hannah on the phone, late at night. He seemed to insinuate she could be the one for him. Or so Hannah thought.
After graduation the three of them decided to travel separately to Europe for a month long vacation, a much needed break after the hectic years spent in med school. Maddox made plans to meet Hannah in Paris, making her believe he wanted a chance with her. And so Hannah decided to meet him there, unsure and a little bit excited, Hannah was looking forward to seeing him. She shouldn’t have trusted Maddox.
“Of all the people to feel comfortable following an uncertain road with, Josh was it.”
Josh was waiting for Hannah when she showed up at the agreed upon time and place. Sometimes the person you were meant to be with has been under your nose the entire time!
“I want to make you melt with desire and fall so hard for me that you forget your name. I want you in every possible way.”
“I was still processing everything, wanting to make sure I committed every word to memory, because he’d articulated things no one had ever felt about me. Things I’d only imagined in my fantasies. Things I always dreamed someone would say.”
Hannah knows gorgeous, cocky men are not for her. So why does she fall for yet another? Why can't she fall for her friend, Josh, Maddox's roomate, Maddox to whom she's so attracted even though she shouldn't be?
Perhaps she just might do that, though, when Josh comes to tell her Maddox isn't showing up for what could have been something great, her friend that she wishes she could fall for instead of undependable Maddox who obviously isn't into her.
I gotta be honest and say that my favorite part of this book isn't the romance or the two leads, it's the descriptions of Paris. The romance, while sweet, didn't really hold my interest because Hannah continually said she wasn't attracted to Josh, didn't think he was attracted. Then boom, she was falling in love with him. Um...no. Her character was really frustrating, and kept me from enjoying what was supposed to be the main story. But because the story was sweet and the descriptions were awesome, I'd say 3 stars is fair.
I was really interested in reading this book after checking out the blurb. It didn't quite match what I expected, though.
I thought Hannah would have more of an attraction to Josh from the beginning, but she repeatedly mentions she doesn't think he's attractive and he is only her friend. A lot of the first half of the book also covers the flirting and crush she has on Josh's friend and roommate Maddox.
Maddox honestly came across as less than genuine from the beginning. Hannah allowing him to jerk her around a bit and expecting something different was frustrating. When she finally starts to see Josh in a different light it felt like an abrupt change. I wish there had been more build up between them. Also, because it happened so late in the story I felt like I didn't get to see as much of them together as I hoped.
The author's descriptions of Hannah's travel and of Paris in particular were fabulous. I kept wanting to write things down to visit if I ever go back again. You can tell she has extensive knowledge of and a love for the city.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
French Kiss a great debut novel, I really enjoyed this well written romance with wonderful characters and I have to say Stacy Travis brought Paris to life for me with her wonderful descriptions of the city of love. Hannah and Josh are best friends and like all friends Hannah is quick to let Josh know she has fallen for Maddox who happens to be Josh’s roommate. Hannah may have put Maddox up on a pedestal but he is not the man she thinks he is and it’s her best friend to who ultimately comes to her rescue..... A friends to lovers romance that will remind you that sometimes we miss what’s right before our eyes and it’s always our best friends who have our best interests at heart. I will certainly be looking out for future works by this talented author.
I received an eARC of this book and was very excited to read it! I love friends to lovers and a romantic setting.
It was really easy to get into at first but then I had to push my way through. It was very detailed; to the point it turned me off a bit, but her writing is very good and I liked the characters. I would have given this book 5 stars if the details in the beginning didn’t make it so hard to get into because once you got into it; about 30-40% in, the story really took off from there!
It was a great read once you get into it and I really enjoyed it. I loved the twist! I wasn’t expecting that at all but honestly it was perfect! The steamy scenes were phenomenal!!! 🔥I loved the scenes with the friends all together and just getting to see their world.
French Kiss was a super sweet read about a girl named Hannah, who couldn't always see past things she should have, which had me all kinds of frustrated quite a bit. That doesn't mean I didn't love her, just means that I wanted to shake her until her teeth rattled more than once until she shaped up. She has this super sexy, complete sweetheart best friend named Josh, but instead of seeing him, she decided she wanted his roommate Maddox, who wasn't even close to Josh's level of awesome. Nope, he was kind of a big fat jerk, so Josh was left to pick up the pieces once the roommate showed out his true colors. And thus starts the frustrating journey of friends to lovers that French Kiss was, and while I was emotional quite a bit, though half of it was exasperation. I am very excited to read Stacy Travis in the future since it appears that this is her debut, so hit those one click buttons to experience Hannah & Josh for yourselves! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
While it wasn't my favorite book of the week, its a strong debut from the author! A few missteps along the way for me: a little slow in parts, a little too much details where it didn't matter, and I had an issue with the focus on Josh's looks earlier in the book. It was made clear he wasn't "insanely hot" early on and that was seemingly the only thing keeping Hannah from turning their friendship into more. That might be me being overly picky, but it bothered me.
Overall it was a good read and I'm interested to see what this author does next.
Thank you Social Butterfly PR, and Stacy Travis for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was so good I ended up reading it in one sitting. This was a perfect slow burn, friends to lovers romance. And the setting took place in Paris, it was the perfect set up!
Hannah and Josh met during their medical residency and quickly became best friends. They have been through it all together, while maintaining strictly just a friendship. Hannah does have a huge crush on Josh’s roommate Maddox. Though Maddox flirts with her, teases her, and claims they would be perfect together, he never acts upon it.
After graduation, Hannah decides she is going to travel to Europe before starting her job at the hospital. Maddox is traveling to Europe as well. He makes a plan for them to meet under the Eiffel Tower in Paris and see what happens between them. When she arrives who does she see under the tower, Josh! Josh is there to comfort her when she realizes Maddox stood her up. Josh decides to stay for a few days with her in Paris. After spending time together and getting to know one another better, will they realize they should be more than friends?
Oh my goodness, this book was so good! I was hooked right from the start. I couldn’t put the book down, I was so curious what would happen next. I also loved the plot twist in the book, I didn’t see it coming. If you’re looking for a good friends to lovers romance, I highly suggest this one!
This is a debut from this author, and I will certainly be looking out for her work in the future. Josh and Hannah as both studying to become doctors but are they ready to take the next step from friends / lovers? No spoiler: this is well worth reading. This is a sweet romance story which had me intrigued and hooked throughout, and I recommend for all.
