***CONTENT WARNING - This book is not intended for readers younger than 18 years of age. This book contains dark—and sometimes violent—events that may be triggers for some readers.*** I’m your typical high school girl…except for the fact that I’m the only eighteen-year-old virgin in town. Worst part? Everyone knows, and that makes me the hottest gossip topic in the school halls. Sick and tired of being teased and stereotyped, I decide it’s time to do something about my…well, sexual status. My hasty decision lands me in a world of trouble, but lucky for me a stranger comes to my rescue. Stephen is much older than me, and to complicate it even more he happens to work with my father. But there’s no denying the chemistry between us, and it’s simply impossible for us to keep our distance. Unfortunately, it seems that fate might be against us as the one mistake I managed to make comes back to haunt me. No matter how hard we try to make it work, there are just too many variables keeping us apart. In the end someone is bound to get hurt. Odds are, that someone is me.
I’m a small town girl who loves to travel through books. The first book I read in school led to my addiction. It was only in grade seven when I picked up a pen and started writing. Of course the book got completed but it mostly consisted out of dialogues.
My love for writing grew. I wrote book after book and learnt as I went along. Now years later my dream finally came true.
When I'm not busy writing you'd find my head buried deep in a book.
I’m constantly thinking about new characters, worlds, and plotlines. I aim to please all my readers in the best way I possibly can.
This book is what you search in a Dark Romance genre. I liked it so much! It is full of suspense, dark characters, steaminess and love between the MCs. Aila and Stephen are so perfect together. They are both broken souls but they try to survive in this crazy world. Their fathers are monsters but one of them at least was ready to become better. However, another one makes their lives as hell. And you cannot stop worry for Aila and Stephen until the end because this book is so twisted and dark. So watch out the triggers because this is a dark story, not for weakhearted. Kate, Aila's friend, is sick and she needs a good psychic clinic. I am sad that Aila faced so many bad people in her life or weak, who was not able to protect her except Stephen. Even her family was not. Stephen is so sexy guy and strong. I like how he is attentive to her and protect Aila despite his dark secrets. Such a man! Happy to know that this book has HEA! Cannot wait to read anything new about them! 💗 And my suggestion - needs a small proofreading for the beginning of the story, a little confusing who talks what because used 'he' and 'she' words without explanation.
Wow. What do I say about this one. A total twister. An intense 180 spin around one. Yep. That's apt. As the way this one starts you would never be able to guess what's in store for you. I was shocked. This one starts with alia and her so called predicament but soon as Stephen enters, sigh!!!!!, the ride just becomes something else for both Stephen and alia and me as the reader. I freaking loved their ups and downs and the unknowns. The author just kept on surprising me in this one for sure. Just when I thought everything was gonna be OK, dayummmmmmm..... The twister and the complete 180 this story does will have your head spinning. I just couldn't believe how things escalated and changed. But one is for sure... I loved loved Stephen and alia's story oh so much. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I really enjoyed this book however it did feel a bit rush especially toward the end I felt like this would of made a better series over a standalone. The first book could of been the relationship growing and developing with he next 1 - 2 books being about how they dealt with everything that happened.
Plot: Alia is an eighteen-year-old virgin and feels like she must be the only one in existence. So as one does, she puts an ad in the paper for someone to help her with that. She starts getting slightly threatening messages (most of the sort "does your dad know what you're doing" - her dad is the local police chief), and then gets a message to meet up with someone. That someone is Stephen. Then later that night, her dad brings home his new deputy for dinner - it's also Stephen. Awkward. Stephen agrees to teach Alia what she needs to know (sexually) as long as she understands it isn't permanent and it isn't a relationship. Their relationship develops and several problems keep popping up: (1) Stephen is very tight-lipped about his past; (2) Alia's friend Kate is a weirdo who always sounds threatening; (3) someone out there is gunning for Alia - she still receives threats and there is at least one attempted abduction. The conflict comes to a head when Alia is abducted and held as a sex slave for a long time. She is rescued and Stephen leaves her. They finally meet back up after a while in weird circumstances where he is now some sort of hostage rescue person and she has permission to be in on the rescue. They get back together because he never wanted to leave her (but decided to because of reasons).
Character development: I didn't understand the title - tattooed maniac? The books never talks about his tattoos in depth. The couple of times the heroine references them, it's glossed over and we never get an answer as to any significance. And maniac? He seems like he might have things going on in his past, not that we get a whole lot of that information, but he's a deputy now. Not exactly a maniac. Alia was pretty oblivious. There was only one person who could have caused all the trouble at school, and that was Kate. She couldn't figure that out. Even though her dad was a cop, she didn't tell anyone about the threats and the attempted abduction. She just made so many poor decisions. And Stephen - he was a grown man with a respectable job, but he also made some incredibly stupid decisions too. I didn't see them actually developing into better people either.
Grammar/formatting: some grammar issues, awkward syntax, mixed-up words
Honestly, the plot I mentioned above isn't even the half of it. So much goes on in this story. It's something that I find typical of new adult books and books that start out on Wattpad - or both (so definitely not an issue just with the author). I don't know why, but they both seem to engender an abnormal amount of drama. That's fine when it all makes sense together, but I felt like there were problems with coherency, timeline, tying everything up, etc. For example, she made a big deal out of being an 18-year-old virgin, and then Stephen makes a big deal out of not having sex with her yet because she wasn't legal. Little things - but there were a lot of little things.
4.5 tattooed stars!!! This book took me on a rollercoaster ride. I really don't know what's going to happen. I would assume stuff, but most of the time I was wrong. Twists and turns. Then the turn caught me off guard! It broke my heart. It's a dark romance, but all the brutal doesn't really happen until the last 20%. The story is so much more than the blurb. Stephen and Alia were attracted to each other immediately. Stephen was someone who's really mysterious, but so hot. I always love a mysterious hero. Alia was so young and naive. As the story develops, you see Alia grew to be a stronger girl with all the things that happened to her. Their chemistry was amazing. All the steamy scenes were ! I gave it 4.5 stars because I feel like there was some plot-holes. Instead of having some scenes played out, because it was such a crucial point to the book, it was explained instead. But overall, I loved and enjoyed it!!!
I rated this book a 5/5. The book starts of in a way, that really draws in your attention. And this attention is retained till the end of the book, its a book filled with mystery and thriller, that leaves you at the edge of your seat. This book does not dissapoint, and is definitely a must read.
Umm... no thank you. First, I’m kind of confused, it says in the beginning that she is 18, but later on she is referred to as a minor. Second, how is a police officer so dumb as to get in any type of a relationship with a minor??? Honestly it makes me kind of disgusted that a 28 year old has sex with not one but two minors, the main characters friend and the main character (I’m guessing, I didn’t get that far). That’s called a pattern and he should not be allowed around children, and definitely should not be a police officer.
And just a side note, the title says he’s a maniac, and he’s a police officer, we should not have maniacs be police officers, that will just end badly.
First book by this author. Wattpad made me purchase it twice because their system dumps paid for books off your Read Already list and if you want to read it again you buy it again. Now I wait for everything to come out on Amazon. Fantastic book. Feelings between two central characters. A biker has lived her since seeing her as a little girl. She cared for his mom when he went to Prision in the nursing home for a crime he didn't commit. I live this book. So good I read it twice. Author writes fantastic stories!
Alia was just a girl who didn’t always fit in. She was bullied in school and was trying to make things a little better. That’s where she met Stephan and he was someone who caught Alia eye. Though she thought he was just there to help her learn about sex. Trying not to have feelings is really hard for them, but when trauma happens you have to work through it or run. The thing is sometimes you don’t get a choice.
I have mixed feelings about this book. It has potential but it's too ambitious. I feel like the author wasn't ready to write a story so convoluted. Not yet. Some parts are confused and rushed. Some others are more on point and compelling. Despite its flaws the story kept me interested so I guess I wouldn't be opposed to read this author again.
The title is deceptive in my opinion. There was nothing throughout the story to support the maniac claim. Otherwise the story was pretty good especially if you're into the whole younger woman older man love stories.
Held the promise of been a fantastic story. I found it jumped around a little too much. There were too many plot holes and issues with the characters that made it completely unbelievable and unfortunately I would Pinot recommend it
The title of this story does not fit and quite frankly has left me puzzled as to why it would named as such. Also, who was the guy that tried to reach/help Alia during her captivity? Never solved that mystery. Overall, good story.
