I went into this one blind, as I saw it pop on my Amazon feed and just purchased it. Lesson learned. Always read the reviews.

This is a book of two halves. The first half is full of teasers, promises and suspense, and I found myself at the 53% point before I even took a breath. From there, however, the whole thing just fell apart—and when I say “fell apart”, I mean it went so totally off the rails as to have been a complete train wreck. Instead of the action telling the story, the narrator just tells us what happened. It was as if this author wrote a summary to sell the book, contracted for the first few chapters, then found herself (himself?) at a loss and simply relied on that summary to meet a looming deadline. The last 20% or so of the book was an almost expository piece in which each character behaves so far afield of what had been established as to leave the reader feeling like they’ve actually been secretly redirected into another story altogether.

I feel cheated out of what had promised to be a wild ride of a thriller. Instead, I was spoon fed two unlikable main characters who deserved to be held accountable for their unsavory actions, yet were dropped smack into the middle of a happily ever after fairytale full of unicorns and rainbows. Just....no.

This was such a surprising and entertaining read.Excellent page turner that I read in one day which is really unusal for me.I was constantly on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next.Characters were enough developed and plot was unpredictable.Only downside was that the main character was so naive and sometimes pathetic that I stopped counting how many times I wanted to slap and shake her to come to senses and take a stand for herself.
Element of romance was also a little annoying because I prefer my thrillers free of too much romance and sex.All in all a really good and interesting read with enough unforseeable stuff to keep you turning the pages!

Exciting, happy, sad a must read

Emma and Ronnie have been happily married for years, except for the last 2. Things have changed and Emma can't figure out why. Ronnie works nights and Emma works days but it seemed to work for them. Now Emma wants more. Ronnie want them to more far away start over and have a family. Emma is restless. She works at a coffee shop and listens to people's conversations. She wants what they have. She has been a nobody for too long. She overhears an interesting conversation at work and makes the decision to change everything. She goes home an Ronnie is gone. Her life is about to take a drastic turn. For better or worse? Read it and find out.

Good story, loved the characters (I could really sympathise with Emma in the first half of the book)... but this book need a good editor! So many question marks where they were not needed? (See what I did there) It made it difficult to read and a bit annoying. Plus other small details probably I picked up because I’m an editor but I thought it was a shame...

Disappointing because the beginning has some good bits to it. Immature, predictable, & not well developed. The last line was just stupid. I downloaded another book for "Christmas". I sure hope that is better. It's really annoying when a book has a good premise & isn't well written. This one also had some usage errors, most noticeably "pa" for P.A. That's distracting & irritating.

Excellent must read!

I am very picky reader and only enjoy well written and thought out plots with truly unexpected twists. I am tired of reading anything with detectives. This is a truly great book.

Not worth it!

Sorry I wasted my time reading this book to the ending. Fair warning, typical trashy novel about the poor working girl!

I really liked all the MJ Hardy books. Read all of them within the last two weeks. This one I was surprised as to why the girls went missing. Loved how it ended.

I'm not sure what to say.... apparently this was a thriller? It was more like a 14 year old child's version of 50 shades. But trying to disguise it as an original only to realise at the end it needed something else too. I can't believe this is the work of an author who has written some great books before this. A bit gutted actually.
