Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.
Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.
Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.
The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.
Okay, a little background for those who don't know me: For most of high school, I was known as the Disney Channel guy. Not only did I regularly watch Mouse network shows ranging from Lizzie McGuire to That's So Raven to Even Stevens to Phil of the Future to The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, but I had the actresses from those series all over my binder, especially Hilary Duff, who was my number one favorite celebrity for nearly two and a half years. That fandom went back and forth over the years; as an adult, I've enjoyed Disney productions such as Lab Rats, Good Luck Charlie, Star Wars Rebels, Liv & Maddie, The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and especially the Descendants trilogy. Disney Plus has been a big help in finding such programming; much of it is pretty much unavailable anywhere else.
So, when I saw this novelization of High School Musical: The Series at my local thrift store, I thought: At a mere ninety-nine cents, how could I not pick it up? Prior to reading this, it had been a while since I'd read any other Disney novelizations or watched any part of the High School Musical trilogy, though the songs from the latter often come up on shuffle on my iDevices.
Unfortunately, this book was a travesty; so much so, my longtime Mouse network fandom wasn't enough to make me enjoy it. The first chapter was good; after that, the stories were so brief, I felt like I was reading Wikipedia summaries of the episodes instead. True, I haven't seen the show this was based on; still, some of these chapters could barely fill an eight-minute episode.
I usually don't say this, but, I have to in this case: Stick with the TV show. That may sound surprising, coming from both a constant reader and a library employee, but, in this case, the book is not better; even though I haven't seen the show, there's nowhere to go but up for this disaster of a novel.
2⭐️ First the good. It was a recap of season one. It was sorta fun to read about it, but I definitely would recommend just watching it. Now the bad. No offense to the author, but the writing was not the best. It was super cringey and seemed like a ten year old wrote it. Overall, I recommend just watching the show. The book it not worth the time or money.
I loved the series but the book is very badly written. It’s written very superficially and makes the characters seem like robots. Would not recommend buying this book, but I'd definitely recommend watching the series.
I have watched the series on Disney plus and was beyond excited when they novelization it! It was basically the same as the series but, I enjoyed it because I liked the series! You should read if u liked the series or like drama!
It was a good book! My only issue is the majority of it is the same dialogue from the series and it just goes over the same exact things as the show. As someone who ordered the book because of the show i just wish there was a little more, yknow?
It was fun to experience season 1 on paper and see some of the characters' thoughts. I do wonder what it would read like if you didn't already know the plot from the series - but that's something I'll never know! (Unless I lose my memory, find this review and re-read it)
Read this with my 5th grader. It was great mom and daughter time which was wonderful. I haven't seen the movie but it daughter has and she liked reading the story.
If you love HSMTMTS and you want to have the story instead of watching the show this is for you. I loved it so much and it’s definitely worth it . Hopefully there is one for season 2
I bought this book since I am a HUGE fan of the series! I just love the characters, plot, everything so much! The novelization was an easy read for me, since it is targeted toward a younger audience, but I still enjoyed the book. I understand some comments on how the book's dialogue felt "vague" or "robot-like" but it is important to keep in mind the target audience's age for this book. The book might have been a little more difficult for younger kids to read if the story was super detailed. All in all, I expected it to be simple to read, fun to read, and very similar to the series. Because of this, I really enjoyed the book!!!
Only complaint : I was really hoping they put the whole "I love you" speech made by Ricky. That would've been awesome. I understand why it wasn't put in there though, since it would not really fit with the structure of the writing.
tää oli ihan kiva, vaikka en oikein tästä high school musical jutusta tiedäkään mitään🙈 toivottavasti tää on edes oikee kirja, oli vähän vaikee löytää täältä goodreadsista😂
