This journal is your all-in-one book to read Scripture and devotions, ponder questions and journal thoughts, and meditate on a short prayer that can launch you into your own prayer time. You'll love the elegant design and find everything you want to enhance your devotional time.
I loved this devotional! I own a lot of devotionals because I like daily positive messages and this one did that! I also liked the spiritual aspect of this particular devotion. The scriptures gave me a lot to consider without being overdone.
I've only used the devotional for 10 days, but I can tell it is a great way to deepen my spiritual life. I am looking forward to the next 30 days of using this devotional and I believe it is one that I will repeat many times!
Thank you to NetGalley and Our Daily Bread for an ARC of this devotional in exchange for my review.
This was a lovely 40 day devotional. I loved the cover and outline of the book. It starts with scripture and then it’s outlined with connecting, then praying and lastly writing or journaling your thought to God. I really liked it and it enabled me to take what I read a step further. If you’re like me, you’re running out of energy on everything. I work long hour in health care and get less than 6 hours of sleep a night. With long car rides to work and back. So this just what I needed to start each day. A manageable bible reading, which is incorporated with a heartfelt example of our lives today. I found this helpful and encouraging. I highly recommend this devotional.
Thank you NETGALLEY and the publisher for this ARC, in exchange for my honest review. ♥️
I just LOVED this devotional!! I could hardly put it down, and definitely read it much faster than I was supposed to!! 😅
It seems like a lot of times with devotionals, they don't put hardly any scripture in it. But this one had a bit more that usual, and I really enjoyed that part about it. They put some really good scripture in it that was just what I needed.
It had some really good points in it, things I'll definitely ponder over for awhile. The people who wrote this really portrayed a strong faith that I appreciated and admired!!
I would highly recommend this for anyone who needs a good devotional!!
*Thank you to the publisher and author for providing me a copy of this book on NetGalley. I was not required to write and honest review and all opinions are my own.
I took seven days to read and decide whether it would be worth continuing on this 40-day journey. I LOVED it! I loved the basic format or having the scriptures there for you along with the devotional so that you only have to worry about grabbing one book on those busy mornings. What was different for me was the activities and journaling. In one instance, you are asked to imagine yourself in the scripture, this is something that I learned from another author that I found beneficial and was glad to see included in this devotional. The personal connection stories allow you to see how your own story can connect and they ask you to do just that. Finally, there is a space to journal and write a prayer. This devotional is not meant to be a deep dive into scripture. If you are a busy mom or professional you will appreciate that you can probably complete this devotional in 15 minutes or less. If I had to state something I disliked I would have liked for a larger journaling/prayer space, maybe one page for each as I am a bit of a writer, but this can be easily rectified by journaling elsewhere if needed. This is a must-buy for 40 days of growing in not just your knowledge of Christ but your knowledge of who you are in Christ.
I would like to thank the Publisher and Authors for providing me a copy of this devotional on NetGalley in return for my honest opinion.
I have never been much of a devotional girl. When we lean on devotions for our “Word of the Day” and not seek the Father for ourselves, are we really growing? Yes, they can be a great stepping-stone for new believers, but they can also be a barrier to the Father’s voice who desires to speak to us through His Word. That is one of the reasons I enjoyed Our Daily Bread’s latest devotional, God Hears Her, because they invite believers to journal and go deeper into the Word rather than read a few pages, close the book, and go about the day without fully grounding ourselves in the Messiah. Without overly explaining or going deep into a testimony, this devotion allows women to add their own input and ask the Lord to guide them in their morning, afternoon, or evening study.
While I thought this was a good tool to grow closer to the Creator, I did find the material quite repetitive and self-centered. I won’t eliminate the whole devotion as a self-promoting book because there were a few sections that got us to remember others, but I did feel uneasy about how often the authors wanted women to look in themselves and pray for their own lives rather than learning the act of selfless servitude. I also wouldn’t say I learned anything new while going through this 40-day devotional or that this book was made to appeal to women solely. Personally, I had hoped that it would go deeper into what women go through and explore the women in the Bible and how their strengths and weaknesses can be a testimony to us; however, this book was broad and spoke mostly on topics that affect all mankind, not just women.
Did I enjoy this devotional? I did. Though my critique is harsh, I need to state that there were days where the material perfectly spoke into the events going on in my life, and throughout these 6 weeks, I was inspired to focus more on Jesus. Would I recommend this book to others? Probably, though I would add a disclaimer that they should not be afraid to create their own questions and dive into a deeper study because the daily entries were a good base but not the main course that would fill our souls.
*Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a pre-release copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are entirely my own!
GOD HEARS HER – A 40 DAY DEVOTIONAL JOURNEY was sent to me, free of charge by Net Galley, in exchange for my honest review. Our Daily Bread published this 40 DAY DEVOTIONAL JOURNEY. It is a Christian non-fiction devotional written by various writers. Daily Bread states, JOIN US FOR 40 DAYS AND DRAW CLOSER TO GOD AS HE DRAWS CLOSER TO YOU. I just like that quote. I’ve heard it many times written in different ways, and I just like what it says. Each of the 40 days starts with a Scripture reading (different Bible translations) and a short explanation. Then, there is a quote, after which is a devotion (Several different authors wrote these.). After that, we have another specific Scripture to ponder or memorize. We have a Connect section, which contains questions to think about and journal. There’s a prayer prompt. And, lastly, a Write section…READ AGAIN AND WRITE ABOUT IT Different activities are included, which are by various authors. I found that each writer does her devotion in a different way. Some are short. Some are long. Some have things to think about or imagine. And, some give you something to do. At the end of the book is a section to journal what you’ve learned in this devotional, and a list of other books. Included on the list are GOD SEES HER, GOD HEARS HER, MOMENTS OF PEACE FOR MOMS, BLESSED IS SHE, AND WHAT REALLY MATTERS. These are all books put together by Our Daily Bread Publishing. This devotional would make a great gift, or would be a nice treat to purchase for yourself. I do recommend this book.
God Hears Her 40-Day Devotional Journal by Our Daily Bread Ministries; Marlena Graves; Amy Boucher Pye; Julie Ackerman Link; Marion Stroud; Anne Cetas; Xochitl Dixon; Keila Ochoa was a uniquely inspired experience directly for women. Most devotionals that I have done give a scripture and an interpretation of that scripture broken up to be read each day. This book drew you into to individualized worship by giving you space to reflect on the scripture and short story by making a connection back to yourself. The stories were current and dealt with issues that WOMEN face.
I loved the spiritual growth I experienced while being more thoughtful and honest with my feelings. Struggling with our burdens and even doubting that God is still there given extensive trials I have faced is an honest statement of where I was at in my faith journey. I know we all go through highs and lows. I was at an all-time low dealing with two special needs children and a teenager who while wonderful most of the time is still a teenager! By honestly reflecting on my prayers, burdens, and blessings I reached a point where I feel much lighter and more connected.
This book is perfect for anyone looking for a little boost or even just a different way to worship. Your soul will truly be nourished and peace can be achieved, as you take stock of where you are and do the work to get to where you want to be.
I was provided a free advance reader copy from Our Daily Bread Ministries in exchange for my honest review on Net Galley. The opinions shared in this review are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC copy of this in exchange for my review and honest opinions..
This was fantastic! I decided to do this devotional for about a week before writing my review. I really enjoy journaling and love finding new daily devotionals. The things that made this really stand out for me where: 1. I loved how much Scripture was in each day. There are so many daily devo's out there that only have a verse, but this one really hit the Scripture daily and I enjoyed that. Once you read the Scripture, there's a devotion and journaling to follow. 2. I loved the "feminine" design of it. It was really enjoyable as a woman, to read devo's geared towards women. 3. As much as I enjoy my Bible time, this was short enough each day that I could still sit down with it for a few minutes, even if I was busy or didn't feel like I had time. The questions really evoked a lot of thought and I could decide how much time I wanted to spend journaling after that.
I will definetely purchase this for the ladies in my weekly Bible Study Group! I was telling them all about it and showing them spoilers inside of it and everyone is so excited to start using it! This would also make a great group activity to do for seasons when everyone is busy but still wants to meet up!
I received an ARC from Our Daily Bread Publishing, via NetGalley. This review is my personal opinion.
I must say God did surprise me. While reading and writing daily this devotional, I didn’t know that while reading it I was going to live for a hard and painful situation. I encourage you to see beyond the name devotional, Why do I say all that? I lost count of how many times I have read that this type of book is superficial bible readingl, but let me tell me you are these one is one those exceptions. In these 40 days, God helps me to see much powerful truth that help me to keep going, specific and exact words. Each day has a bible verse, I love that they used different versions. With a small reflection, and the questions for reflection. I like that this book is great for single women like myself, stay home mother, and grandmamma.
I am grateful for this book, it was a beautfiful and unexpected gift in my life
Forty days of guided prayers to remind you that God does indeed hear you. This is an interactive journal that is meant to guide you through a journey to know Him better and walk away changed by the realization that God does hear you. I loved the layout of each day and how the order was not always the exact same. Basically, a passage of Scripture, a personal story from one of the contributors to make it personal and then a space to Connect. In the Connect space, questions are asked to prompt your own heart to make the message personal and relatable. Then, you are prompted to pray and talk to God about the key theme identified in your heart during the passage. A section is provided to write and record the things you have learned and received. I appreciated the design and the workbook format. A great gift for women, young and old. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own and freely given.
This book was received as an ARC from Our Daily Bread Publishing in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.
I love How this Devotional is broken down. This book gives you the right amount of scripture and the right amount of space to reflect and apply to your daily teachings. Everybody deserves to feel their best and I am so fortunate that I discovered journaling in devotionals to make me a stronger and better person. The color scheme, design layout and clarity of the words make it so much easier to follow and complete while reading. Devotionals have become very popular with our library community and I am so excited to share this title with them.
We will consider adding this title to our B Non-Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
I really am enjoying this devotional journal. I've done the first 10 days (and skimmed the rest so that I could post a review sooner than 40 days) and am finding it very enjoyable and interesting. I will admit that certain prompts seem slightly repetitive but even so it is good to look at things multiple times or in a slightly different view point. There are also a few days where the prompts don't quite seem to tie in to the scripture that well, but even with those I find that it's challenging my thought process, so I'm definitely getting a lot out of this and plan to continue on with the rest of the days as a daily devotional and will suggest this to some of my religious friends upon it's release as well.
When I think of Our Daily Bread I think of a short, usually single-line, Bible verse excerpt and a modern story. Unlike the traditional ODB format, this devotional provides the Bible passage, a relevant story, and thought-provoking questions to help you connect with the passage on a deeper level. Finding this type of format is very rare for devotionals. If I had to make an improvement, I would add more space for journaling. Some of the spaces probably wouldn't be enough room for the depth of the questions. Otherwise, this journal is perfect Bible study companion. I received an advance reader copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
#God Hears Her 4o day Devotional Journal# by Our Daily Bread ministries. This devotional journal is written by several people. The journal starts out with a passage, then their is a devotional. After the devotional there are several sections with questions you fill in. It is practical and helpful. It shows how God listens to us when we call on Him. I like the questions that tie into the devotional. It is nice there are different authors. It is easier to apply the devotional when there are personal questions. Thank you to Our Daily Bread for allowing me to read and review this book. I hope it is very successful.
I’ve bought a lot of Devotionals over this past year, but many were rather lacklustre. Some had long stories with very little Scriptural references, and many have trivial written exercises. I found this one much better than expected. You start on on a 40-day journey that is an intentional and meaningful process. This journal helps you stay in and apply scripture daily for 40 days. I would recommend this for women of any age really. It would surely make a great gift. I was able to review a digital arc from the publisher and NetGalley, but would buy a physical version in order to utilise the journal to write in.
Firstly, this is such a beautiful book. The cover is gorgeous. Secondly, I enjoyed reading every page. This book is a beautiful reminder that God is with us every day. Readers are encouraged to spend time reading the selected Holy Scriptures, connect with God and reflect, pray and journal/make notes. It’s not just a Scripture-a-Day book, I actually spent time reflecting on the stories, praying and doodling away. There’s encouragement to immerse ourselves into the scriptures and personalise what God is saying to us through it. I loved ‘God Hears Her 40-Day Devotional Journal’. It would make a lovely thoughtful gift. I’d buy it for myself and my loved ones.
I loved God Hears Her 40-Day Devotional Journal by Our Daily Bread. This journal coincides with God Hears Her family of devotionals that Our Daily Bread has. In addition to the devotion and Scripture, each devotion had writing prompts with various activities to help make what the reader had read more meaningful and applicable. I used this book as part of my devotion time and I highly recommend it. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. (My review is also on Goodreads.)
This book will be welcomed by those who are interested in deepening their spiritual life. It is clearly a Christian title. For each day, there is a biblical passage, a short personal reflection and several prompts with space to fill in one's thoughts. Those who regularly read publications from Our Daily Bread should enjoy this title and find it to be helpful.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this book in exchange for an honest review.
An inspirational and comforting book, filled with precious nuggets and gems, it enriches your soul because reading it was like taking a daily vitamin supplement encapsulated with the beautiful words of guidance, love, hope, and all things that are possible from God. It fortifies your mind, body, and soul, it’s beautiful in all the ways and is worthy of keeping close to your chest.
I really enjoyed this devotional. The devotional do not take long to read but has a powerful message. Each day starts with a passage of scriptures followed by the authors thoughts and than a place for reflection.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for letting me read the book in exchange for an honest review.
This devitonal features a scripture passage, and a short devotional reading, a journal prompt to connect you to the day's reading, a box to jot down a quick prayer. I loved the scriptures and writing prompts. I read and and reviewed an Advanced Copy of this book All thoughts and opinions are of my own. Thank you NetGalley and Our Daily Bread Publishing.
DNF. Very disappointed. The scripture and short devo was fine but nothing thought provoking. The questions were shallow, unrelatable, and just kinda stupid. This would probably be a good devo for the person who isn't a believer but would like to learn about God or the new believer. I don't recommend this so much for the mature Christian.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for provide me with a digital copy in exchange for my honest review. Bello, con hermosos pensamientos y sobre todo, lo que me encanto, es que hay amplio espacio para escribir. Lo recomiendo.
Right now I am devouring devotionals to help calm me and give me peace through studying God’s word. The devotions are easy to read and understand and leave your spirit uplifted.
I thought that this was really nicely done. It was short and to the point but in a good way. It definitely gave me some food for thought, and it allows busy people to still always make time for God. I would recommend this book.
Thank you #netdalley and GodHearsHer40DayDevotionalJournal for giving me the chance to read this beautiful devotional in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this 40 day journey of deep reflection combined with scripture. I would recommend all women to give this 40 day devotional as a gift to themselves.
