This is the story of the Angel of Goliad. Her name was Francisca Alvarez, and she saved the lives of 20 Texans destined to die on March 27, 1836, when Colonel James W. Fannin and 341 of his men were put to death on orders of General Santa Anna.
This book was interesting, especially since there really isn't much information about Francisca Alavez. Including the fact there there are half a dozen different names recorded for this woman. Even though the information is sparse, I thought it did a great job illustrating primary sources.
