4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars (I have read 12 of this author's stories.)

In this modern day variation Elizabeth is a working as a chemist while completing her studies. Her work involves highly explosive chemicals. (A reflection of the author's background.) Her boss, Catherine de Bourgh, is planning to retire and thus her nephew, Fitzwilliam Darcy, arrives on scene to help transition the company to new supervision. We again have that insult from Darcy but there is also sexual chemistry at play between them. (Mature scenes)

However, an explosion occurs, chemicals disappear and then a Bennet sister goes missing. (She is believed to be with Wickham.) The trail leads to troubled Yemen. In preparation to follow the leads Elizabeth is to act as Darcy's wife. But it is not completely an act. They will marry so as to have proof of such. A divorce when all if over and done is part of the plan.

Elizabeth also has to dress as the native women, covering her head and hair and here the author treats us to some links showing clothing styles worn by Elizabeth, including her wedding gown.

Jane and Bingley are part of the story with Bingley being Darcy's lawyer.

This story has its share of angst, which I like. Security is tight in Yemen and there are some close calls. I highly recommend this story. I enjoyed this story which kept me turning the pages.

Excellent Modern P&P
Darcy is a billionaire bachelor, Bingley is his lawyer. Elizabeth is a student working on her masters and working part time at an explosives company owned by Catherine de Bourgh. Darcy steps in as a temporary CEO.

This modern/contemporary romance and P&P variation contains an interesting, suspenseful and fast-moving plot, which eventually takes Elizabeth and Darcy on an international adventure in search of secret military explosives in the wrong hands. Elizabeth agrees to a marriage of convenience in the hope of rescuing a missing sister—it may not be who you might expect! Most of the P&P story elements are here, but given a contemporary twist that fits well within the troubled times of a modern world about which we often hear. So, once again, with this latest release, Elin Eriksen provides the reader with something different, keeping the reader spellbound to the end.

For some readers, be warned—there are steamy bits, but not gratuitously so. This author writes intimate scenes well. Some really non-steamy romantic moments are also provided. HEA guaranteed.

Don’t skip this one. Highly recommend!

This was a quick, fun read. Elizabeth and her uncle Gardiner work at Catherine de Bourg's explosives company and Darcy drops in as the temporary CEO. The story picks on all the main themes of P&P: Darcy's offensive first impression, Elizabeth's ignorance of his liking her, Jane as Bingley's 'angel', the Bennets' slack parenting, Wickham's pursuit of opportunities at any cost, an imperiled Bennet sister and Georgiana's near miss. But Two Components takes the cast of characters to locations topical in the 21st century: New York, London, and yes... politically fraught Yemen. In that last location Darcy and Elizabeth are up for some serious adventures, on the side of their love affair. Some of the traipsing about the Yemeni countryside is improbable but evidently meant to be taken as proof of how far Darcy is willing to go: all the way, as clearly, Elizabeth is too. I found the scene early in the story in which Darcy out of character but nevertheless delightful. As I said, all very topical; he had evidently been watching British TV.
The story has some mature adult content.

2 Components is Explosive

Elizabeth as an explosives developer was awesome. Super smart & of course impertinent. What every man wants, right?
Hot, billionaire Darcy is smooth and comfortable until he meets the nutty professor, that he can’t forget. I nearly fell off the couch when she hit him with the frying pan!. Loved the intrigue!
Way to go Elin!!!

I found this hard to understand

I know absolutely nothing about explosives which is what most of the story is about. Everyone works in or around an explosive company ( I think) and either Catherine or Darcy's in charge. The discussion about activities, procedures are confusing and the writer seems to think we understand that world. Of course Darcy and Elizabeth are miscommunicating as throughout history but overcome that to marry in order to travel to Yemen and rescue Mary Bennet who is under the control of Wickham. Unbelievable how her strong Christian faith is being used to either convert Muslims, or convert her to Islam,, or use her as a suicide bomber. Its terribly confusing and I never figured out why Mary. There is simply too much thrown into the plot for me to understand what they are actually doing. Bottom line - explosives blow up, Yemen is a mess, and you can't trust many people.

Fun and interesting

I liked the way the author keeps the characters traits and personalities even when she surrounds them with a modern setting. The plot is engaging and entertaining.

Interesting

Interesting variation. Some of the language was frivolous and the wording a bit awkward. Overall a well written story with the harsher reality of a war torn country as the backdrop for a large portion of the book. Enjoy.

3.5*

An interesting plot idea set in a world the author knows well from her non-writing career.

I enjoy modern variations very much but this one didn't quite hit the mark for me. The author tried hard to make there key plot points from the original fit into a modern context and many of them did. Unfortunately not all did however and it would have been better to leave them out altogether, for example including Collins was an irrelevance and should have been omitted - I do not imagine any one would mind!

This has mature content.

As always with this author, the book is well edited which is a distinct bonus.

A modern fan fiction story based in the world of explosives! Elizabeth Bennet, graduate student, has determined the chemical make up of a very explosive bomb where two seemingly innocuous ingredients combine to something different. The CEO of the company, Mrs. de Bourgh is retiring and handing over running of the company to her nephew Fitzwilliam Darcy. The author adds in lots of misunderstandings and a trip to the Middle East as our dear couple finds that they too are a volatile but good combination.

Elin Eriksen….

….. can usually be counted on to provide a great story; sadly, this isn’t one. It’s mediocre at best. I’ve racked my brain to think of a way she could have altered the storyline for more interesting angst but nothing comes to mind. I do like that Mary was a cereal figure and needed rescuing vice Lydia.

Page turner. Never boring.

I was intrigued from page 1. The premise is basically the same, but then mysteries begin. You as a reader will laugh and cry, feel anxiety and relief. The ending made me smile.
