Since her marriage to Doctor David Pembury, Julie had given up her job as district nurse to act as surgery nurse for her husband.
Of course she had to put her husband first now, but Julie’s specially endearing characteristic had always been her eagerness to do all she could to help others solve their problems.
Even marriage and its added responsibilities would never stop her – not that David, in spite of his occasional protests, would ever want her to!
I actually liked this quite a bit, except for the fact that Julie's husband keeps calling her an idiot, particularly during one incident where it really does look like he is cheating on her. He has a reason why he couldn't tell her what exactly was going on, but he could have reassured her instead of ignoring her feelings that appear entirely justified based on what she and other characters see. After the first book I was looking forward to reading about Julie and the Doctor, and there are a lot of sweet moments in their relationship, but it is definitely a very dated depiction of a happy marriage.

I thought this was a great book, if your a fan of Betty Neels or James Herriot you will love it also, the writing format is similar, this is a good clean book that anyone can read! I thought it was excellent!
