Two young girls disappeared three years ago in a case that shook not only the Navy SEAL community, but Alpha Squad to the core. One of the girls is rescued, but the other has disappeared into thin air and all trails lead to a dead end. Or so they thought. Alpha Squad never gave up hope that she would be found, in what condition, they didn't know.
Now three years later, new evidence comes to light that blazes a trail to Tampa. With the help of Trident Security, their new found knowledge of what they are up against, Alpha Squad rushes to do whatever is necessary to find the missing girl and bring her home to the SEAL community who loves her. What wasn't expected was secrets that came to light that were better left in the dark. Friendships and a marriage are put to the test in this sequel. Can Pratt and Highlander's marriage withstand the secrets that were hid in the dark for long? Will Trident Security and Alpha Squad find the missing girl? Even the darkness seeks the light.
So many twists to this it does take some concentration at times, plus there are a lot of characters both good and bad with call names as well as real names or aliases. I must admit I had to backtrack a few times to get them straight in my head, but this doesn't take away from an intense and worrying plot that does keep you on edge. Lots of back and forth between the women complete with slang and swear words again I did get slightly lost when it got a bit full on. I guess some of this is because this is my first read by KD Michaels although I do have a few other books waiting to be read, it might have helped had I already gotten to know the women on this squad and understood their interaction with each other and how they bounced the ideas about like springboards. They were easy to like however and their dedication to this case was top notch, I enjoyed the participation by the borrowed characters and they were kept in the form regular readers of that series would recognise easily. Overall I found this to be a gripping story with plenty of action and suspense and one I enjoyed imensely
This is the first book I have read by KD Michael's and whilst I enjoyed the story it took me a while to read. Most books I devour in a day but this has taken me over a week. I am not sure why.
The charcters were great, especially the Trident Security gang from Samantha A Cole. And I loved Pratt. But I think the others just had me lost. There was too much dialogue with lots of diffrent people talking. I think if I had read the other stories based on her charcters first I might have understood who people were better.
Please don't let my 3 star review stop you from reading this story. You may pick it up and love it. For me I just struggled.
Do you suggest I read the other books by KD Michael's maybe that way this story would fit?
This story took me awhile to get into. NOT because it was bad but because these were characters I wasn't familiar with from the authors previous books. But once I started, I couldn't put it down. These girls take no prisoners and I loved the personalities of all of them. A wonderful story filled with drama and intrigue, I loved the fast pace of the story and I loved seeing Ian and Carter. Highlander is hot and you can tell how much he loved his woman!! All in all, this was a great story and I think I'm gonna have to go get some of KD's books to see what these ladies are all really about. I loved them all!
This story was great there was a lot of suspense and a lot of conversations. I got a little lost with all the people involved in the beginning. But I enjoyed this story very much. Alle the twists and turns got me hooked. And I read it in one day. I loved all the Trident men and Pratt and the girls and everybody. Great read.
This was great! However, I think I should have read the previous book at least. Finding Tina must be the one to read before this. There were some things it seemed like I was missing out on the feels and insider knowledge. Other than that, this was such a wonderful add on to the SSW line!! Lots of action, twists and turns abound!! And what can I say about Pratt? She’s awesome, kicks ass and has an official Highlander for a husband! This one got a whole lot of the sexy six pack involved!! I’m really into this whole series of this world! I can’t wait for the next one! KD Michaels has her own special group and they are mostly women like the Trident Security Team. This is a great read that keeps you on edge till the last page!! ♥️♥️
Strong women, smart mouths, kicking ass. What’s not to love?
Welcome to Alpha Team. A team of women on the hunt for those who kidnapped and sold two daughters of Navy SEALs. While on the hunt, Pratt’s past comes to life and rocks the lives of several members.
KD Michaels took a story with many new characters, brought them to life and gave you a glimpse into who they are. This is a very fast paced book and you will not have the answers you seek for others in the team, but she will definitely keep you coming back for more.
This book starts out with overwhelming information with a flurry of trash talk and crude humor, but will have you hooked by chapter 2.
Alpha Squad, Trient Security and Highlander's SEALs team are all on deck for this fast paced suspense. Trident is brought in to assist the irreverent, snarky and highly talented women of Alpha Squad as they close in on a human trafficking cult. Think crooked politicians, secret societies, duplicitous Teams members and so much more. Laura Pratt must relive the nightmare of her first marriage as she unrelentingly tracks a kidnapped SEALs daughter. Lots of twist and turns as well as a huge cast of characters make this an interesting read.
While technically this can be read as a standalone, you will enjoy it more if you have read the Alpha Team books. The dynamic in the team and with Highlander’s SEAL team is only enhanced by the addition of the Sawyers, Carter, and Jordyn – and what an awesome combination it is to have Pratt and Jordy! The story itself is gripping, the suspense and emotion will wring you out, and you will be left again with a sense of hope for a better future because of teams like this.
I received a free copy of this book, read and enjoyed it, and this review was posted voluntarily.
This book features several teams from another set of books by this author consisting of police and Navy Seals and the continuation of a case. Having not read that book there was a lot of guessing on my part about a lot of things that weren’t explained. This book is also full of editing and content errors to the point it was distracting. Add to this the ending is eerily reminiscent of a Criminal Minds episode. I did get a watered down dose of the Trident Team and Carter (not Cater as he was called) and Jordyn so that was a plus.
There is a kernel of interest in this series, but I think I will be giving it up anyway. I get that the detectives of Alpha Squad are tough and use verbal swords to blunt the effect of their work on their minds. However, the incessant snark and trash talk is really annoying as well as repetitive ad nauseam. It almost seems as though the author has no real dialogue and takes refuge in the profanity and insults. In addition, the misspellings and word errors make it seem as though no proofreading was done at all. I wish the author luck, but I can't read this anymore.
This book is part of Samantha Cole’s Suspenseful Seduction World, where another author, in this case KD Michaels writes a book using a few of Samantha’s characters. I read this book because I am a huge fan of Samantha’s trident series, and let’s face it, anytime with the Trident guys is a good time!! Once I started reading this book I realized that I had to stop and go and read KD Michaels Alpha Squad books so that I would know what was truly going on. I’m glad I did, her storylines are great, even with the numerous editing issues.
Holy smokes this book is absolutely fantastic and let me tell you once you start reading it you are hooked and it has the Trident security team involved and a few surprises like Carter and His Women and Keon. I am such a a fan of the Highlander men and pratt's team. This book had me in the edge of my seat and I found myself laughing out loud and who knew diesel knew twatt names lol I was absolutely laughing. Thank you writing such a fantastic book.

I love this series. Well written book with all the suspense, humor, danger and HEA. Pratt and the posse end up getting a break and are heading to Tampa, FL. Also Joe and his team are going along with both of her god fathers and few others. This book is about finding Dakota the other teenager that went missing because of her step mother. Her father was a Seal and killed in action. Excellent read.
I loved how the teams worked together to solve the mystery and bring down the bad guys. It was fun to see other teams again and I cannot wait for more books with these characters who are written so well, it is like you are right there in the thick of the action. The only complaint I have is the book ended but I wanted more.
I enjoyed the storyline, the suspense, the twists and turns. I did not enjoy the dialogue. There was a lot of confusion with too many people in the book. I have not read from this author before but have read the Trident storyline. I may go back and try and figure somethings out, but often I was left confused with the number of people in the storyline.
Another book that I would not have purchased if it hadn't been related to Trident
This was some of the worst writing I've read in a while. There were so many mistakes. For me that's very distracting. The characters were very weak, even the ones from trident. I will definitely add this author to my do not buy list.
This book had me waiting for the end!! I was so happy that Dakota was found but sad about what she had to endure for those three years. This author keeps me in suspense regarding what extent human trafficking goes through to target its victims. So glad to see and read how Human Trafficking is been kept in news, books and media.
Did enjoy the book, story was good and I love reading of the Trident guys. Only problem was I would recommend reading the other Guardians books first as I felt I was coming in half way through a film and had to catch up with the plot!
I would probably have enjoyed this book more if I had read the previous Alpha team books but all in all a great story if somewhat hard to follow in places.Having a mostly female team was an unusual plus and the crossover with Carter and Jordan enjoyable.
I found the plotline believable but the swearing and trash talk was too repetitive and too much of it which made me not connect to the alpha squad characters. Disappointed as I have loved all the SSW books so far
They just keep getting better. More people get added to the already huge family. Can not wait to read the Trident Security books or Marcus and Rasos book. Keep writing and I will keep reading. Thank you.
This story was hard to follow with the spelling errors and jumping around that it did. Too many players without substantial content. I was so excited when it was slated.to be a crossover with Trident security but was let.down by the lack of pertinent interactions
These books are so enjoyable. I love how the guys from Trident were in this one. I love the fact that we see other characters show up. Pratt and Highlander are super cool, but I will say Diesel is annoying. She is probably my least favorite of all the characters.
Great read! I have yet to meet a KD Michaels book I didn't enjoy and Secrets in the Dark is no exception! Action packed and the Alpha Squad are amazing..
When I started this series, I wondered, yet each book got better and better, it was to the point that I could not put it down, I had to find out what was going on, no matter if my eyes wanted to close.
Three years ago 2 girls were kidnapped, Laura and her team of amazing woman, found one of the girls, Tina. But her best friend was gone and no where to be found.
Move three years and you will find out that the amazing team of woman were still looking for Dakota, a young girl who is loved by everyone, and good lord help us, not her mama. Laura and her co-works never gave up and soon all the work is to pay out, their leads take them to Florida, Tampa and they are getting closer and closer to rescuing Dakota.
Along the way the get more and more help including Trident Security, Highlander and the Navy Seals are still pretty much there. This is so far the best I have read in the series, love it and love the characters just as much. Can't wait to the next one.
Laura and her team, The Guardians of Hope, race to Tampa trying to find the long lost daughter of a DEAL killed in action. Some of Laura's secrets come into the light. She was not only an abused child but a very battered wife. Those secrets have stained her psyche...her spouse and friends convince her to let guilt go as the fault lay with her ex and parents. Despite everything, laur a and her new friends at Trident Security find the missing girl and save her a nd her 2 children from her and their abuser. Re-read July 2023...HEA..
There are not enough stars for how good this story is. If you love the Guardians of Hope, Highlander's Seal Team and of course Trident Security, you will love this one. Putting all these characters together was amazing!!! I am not going to say anything else because I will end up giving spoilers because it is that good!!!! This is a MUST read!!!!
