Rate this book
From Byzantium to the Mongols to the Sultans of Rum, this acclaimed book offers an important insight into the evocative history of Turkey before the coming of Ottoman power.

Turkey forms a historical bridge between Europe and Asia and as such has played a pivotal role throughout history. This is a shorter version of the 1968 Pre-Ottoman Turkey by Cahen. This one has less details but spares you also some of the long and confusing parts about who fought who and who retaliated whom etc. I thought this was an easier read than the original Pre-Ottoman Turkey. Equally interesting in understanding the Selcuks and Anatolia prior to the Ottomans.
