Evan Grace’s Rescued is a hot, intense, emotional contemporary romance written in K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes Worlds project.
After spending the last few years globetrotting for her travel vlog, Gwen Malone has finally decided to come home to Sunnyville, California. Her plan was to spend time with her family and friends, and decide where to go next.
The last thing she expected was to be attracted to the tattooed police officer, Maverick Graves. At her welcome home party, her sister and best friend warn her to stay away, that he’s a player and commitmentphobic. That was the plan except she saw him everywhere — sometimes with other women. That only solidified that Gwen needed to avoid him.
To Maverick, Gwen was untouchable. Yes, she was gorgeous, he was very interested, but she was his boss’s daughter and he wasn’t going to go there no matter how much he wanted to.
A simple favor for her dad and she was in a van with him driving along the coast. When an accident traps them together things get real, quick. When they’re finally rescued they can’t seem to stay apart, no matter how hard they try.
Things can change in an instant — will they both give in to what they really want? Or deny their true feelings, losing the other forever.
A Midwesterner and self-proclaimed nerd, Evan has been an avid reader most of her life, but five years ago got bit by the writing bug, and it quickly became her addiction, passion and therapy. When the voices in her head give it a rest, she can always be found with her e-reader in her hand. Some of her favorites include, Shayla Black, Jaci Burton, Madeline Sheehan and Jamie Mcguire. Evan finds a lot of her inspiration in music, so if you see her wearing her headphones you know she means business and is in the zone.
During the day Evan works for a large homecare agency and at night she’s superwoman. She’s a wife to Jim and a mom to Ethan and Evan, a cook, a tutor, a friend and a writer. How does she do it? She’ll never tell.
I’m not very familiar with all of Evan Grace’s talents because I’ve only read a few books by her but what I have read thus far has been great so I will assume moving forward that’s how it’s going to be :) I really like her style and voice.
This small- town story with a cop and the Chief of Police’s daughter had great energy. It starts out with a bang and from there it just takes off. Great character development and the story put a smile on my face. I will say that the big conflict (ya’ll know which one I mean) had me blinkity blink blinking for a second because seriously dude? lol It seemed a little too much for me but it’s not my story to tell so …
In this book by Evan Grace we meet Maverick and Gwendolyn. Mav is a local cop who doesn't believe in commitment, and Gwendolyn is a travel writer who is taking a break by coming home. When Gwen gets home, she is warned off of Mav because of his playboy ways, and after seeing him with other women, she attempts to keep her distance. They are thrown together by her Dad, Mav's boss, and an accident happens that brings them together and from that moment on, they can't stay away from each other. It was a joy to see how Evan Grace changes this commitment-phobe into a man that can't stay away from just one woman. There was one big moment that Maverick is the ultimate tool, and Gwen being the amazing strong woman she is, doesn't second guess her worth. Sure, she is sad, but knows that she is strong enough to handle what is thrown at her. Thankfully, her dad, shows Mav what an idiot he is being, and he grovels for forgiveness. That epilogue, wow, it was great to see these two in the future. I can't wait to see Taylor and Troy and what Evan has is store for them!
You know, I have to admit that the first line in Maverick’s POV didn’t recommend himself to me very highly and I knew that Gwen was going to have to be a fire-cracker to deal with his baggage! So, considering what she did for a living and her personality type, Author Evan Grace created the perfect storm for this shag-them-and-leave-them Sunnyville officer of the law, and employee of Gwen’s father, Chief of Police Grant Malone. I love this author’s writing, so her contribution to K. Bromberg’s Every Day Heroes world made for great reading.
Holy smokes, but the chemistry was hot between them straight off the bat. Maverick had been invited to his boss’s place for a BBQ and was about to go after the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen until she was introduced to him by his boss, as his daughter!!! That was a huge no-go moment to him for sure and he acted like a complete tool in an effort to throw them both off.
Gwen on her part was still keen as mustard. She’d heard of his reputation and didn’t mind a bit of hit it and quit it, but when his cold demeanour and hot looks gave her mixed signals that were still a little hard to ignore, she tried to avoid him altogether. Until her father Chief of Police Malone sent Office Maverick with her to one of her favourite charities.
Unfortunately, they got trapped in a rock slide on the way and had to be rescued.
Except for Maverick’s less than stellar introduction (!!!), he was everything that is sexy and alpha about your man in uniform. Seriously, imagine that cover model in a cop’s uniform with his sleeves rolled up over those tattooed forearms, or him in leathers on a motorbike, and you have Maverick. Ms Grace has indeed graced us with a gorgeous book boyfriend with genuine commitment fears, but every reason to want to make changes. Especially when shown the error of his ways – I enjoyed that part!
Rescued was a great, hot and steamy addition to K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes and if this is your first introduction to Author Evan Grace, I urge you to check out her other books. 4 Stars. 💞*❃
A wonderful 4.5 ⭐️ read!! I loved reading K. Bromberg’s every day heroes series of the Malone brothers. They were wonderful H’s, so getting to read about Grant’s daughter was fantastic!! Evan was able to weave a great story that fits perfectly within this world. Gwen is sassy & wild. I am a sucker for a hot cop book & oh boy is Maverick just that. Their chemistry is fan yourself hot!! Their push & pull with a bit of they shouldn’t go there because of her dad added more intrigue to their story. Maverick is a player, never wants to get serious with the ladies. Yes this has been done before, but I couldn’t help but love these characters & story. The world had me as a reader with Kristy’s original books & Evan did such a great job pulling me in again.
This author is one of my go to authors and she did not disappoint. Maverick is a police officer with a colorful reputation. Gwen is a travel blogger who has moved back home to regroup and decide what is next for her. When they meet, the attraction is there but neither one is wanting more. When there is an turn of events, everything changes for both of them. I really enjoyed reading their journey to happiness.
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done
Maverick Graves!!!! Where do I start? He has punched all f my sigh buttons....He was the sex is all I want guy..that is until he meets his one. And that is Gwen Malone yu know his bosses daughter...Dont touch. Well let's just say that flew ut the window very fast, There was instant attraction from the first time their eyes locked and Gwen was warned that Maverick was a player. This book was simply amazing
This was my first time reading this author, and as much as I wanted to love it... I just didn't. The writing was just too choppy for me to connect with the characters, and there was way too much of 'telling' of what was going on, versus showing us what was actually happening. Because of that I just couldn't get invested in the storyline.
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions.**
I love Gwen's strength and she knows her worth. It took a strong woman like her to bring Maverick to his knees. He is swoony but I had a hard time with him at one point and was glad to see how the author turned him around. This is exciting, sexy, and fun to read.
Gwen is paid to travel and blog on her social media, she is a bit of a risk taker, the police chiefs daughter and after being away for so long she is heading back to her small home town.
Maverick is a police officer in Sunnyville and Grant, Gwen’s dad, is his boss. He’s known as a player and make sure women have no expectations from him.
After a traumatic experience ties them together, Maverick starts rethinking his stance. “She rescued me from a life I wasn’t meant to lead.”
It doesn’t matter what she types out, everything that comes from Evan’s mind is pure perfection and this is just one more addition to the fantastic-ness that is Evan Grace.
Rescued takes us into K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes world. This is where we meet Gwen. She’s the oldest daughter of the towns police chief Grant Malone, an original Everyday Hero by Bromberg. Gwen is feisty and secure with herself. She’s a travel vlogger and has finally come home to recoup and relax and spend time with her family before her next travel adventure. It’s at a welcome home barbecue when she first sees Maverick. Her sister and friends warn her off. He’s a player and allergic to commitment but even past the immediate attraction, there’s still something there lying beneath the surface about him and she can’t quite get him out of her head.
Maverick is an officer for the local police department and Grant Malone is his boss. Maverick is completely content with how his life is. He loves his job and working on the force with his best friend Troy. He loves his dog, Butch and he also loves the ladies. He’s a bit of an honest manwh*#e. He enjoys sex and that’s all he wants. He gives them the truth up front but there are always a few that think they can be the one to convert him. It all starts to change the day he shows up to a barbecue at his Chiefs house to welcome home his daughter. He spots a gorgeous woman from a distance and there’s an immediate attraction....then he realizes it’s his bosses daughter and she quickly gets put on the “do not touch” list. But fate seems to want to push these two together. Everywhere they go, they see each other. Then they’re placed in the same van doing a favor for her father. An accident brings them closer together than they ever expected and the results are amazing. They seem to click on every level. Fears still loom in the background of the commitmentphobe Maverick and this may be the best thing that’s ever happened to them or they could go down in flames.
This really was an enjoyable story. It captured me from the first page. I loved the heat and intensity of the attraction between them. I was captivated and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Fantastic read!
I like this author but this one fell flat for me. ****Spoilers*****
He's a man-ho but very attracted to his boss's daughter but his reaction is to leave the party because he "needs to get laid" it may have happened not really sure the author doesn't state but the next time she sees him is at a bar with a woman hanging all over him and the next time she sees him he's making out with the girl her high school boyfriend cheated on her with.
So far this guy isn't making me like him. Later they are in a serious accident and bond over it. They have sex 3 more times and are sort of hanging out. He invites her to go on a hike, realizes he likes her and lies about having to work and cut short their day. She later sees him at a bar with the same ho who was coming onto him and she and the ho get into a girl fight (which was sort of cool). A week later he comes to her as she's getting ready to leave town to visit friends and apologizes and tells her he thought about screwing the "ho" for about 2 seconds but knew he wouldn't go through with it (ugh! This is a hero? not). Asks her to come see him when she returns and see where it goes with them and she says yes. Now I'm thinking she's a door mat.
When she gets home they become a couple and it's actually going pretty well until *****BIG SPOILER***** she finds out she's preggers, keeps it from him for a few days and when he blindsided hearing from none-other than the ho, he tells her leave! (By this point she had moved in with him!!!!). Of course it's all because his own desterted him blah, blah, blah......(oh cry me a river). Anyway, after her dad goes to tell him to pull his head out he goes to her and she just forgives him. Epilogue a couple of years later with their hea.
Evan Grace is a one-click author for me. Doesn't matter what she writes I have to have it. So obviously reading Rescued was a clear choice. Rescued is my first book in the Everyday Heroes World so I was going in blind.
I like Maverick and Gwen, but I felt I could have used more of them. Their characters were surface and I would have loved for them to have more depth. They have this instalove thing that happens. The characters and plot had me intrigued. I read the entire book before I even realized. But also kept reading wishing for more.
Them being stuck in a rock slide was something I haven't read before. The connection they had was instant and started even before the accident and just grew from there. I did actually love their chemistry and connection. The way Maverick had this need to protect her right from the start.
Evan Grace delivered an amazing plot with great words. She had me hooked so no matter what the reason was she did her job. She also set up her next book in the world perfectly and I can't wait to see what she does with them. So while this is not my favorite Evan Grace book, it's still a great read. It was also a great first look into the Everyday Heroes World.
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was an absolutely wonderful story. I actually hope the author writes a 2nd story for Taylor. It is a small town romance between a cop, Maverick and the police chiefs daughter, Gwen. Mav is very anti love and romance and he just does hookups and one is with Gwen's high school nemesis and she knows that.
They are attracted to each other when they meet but Gwen is warned off him and he knows that he can't go there with his bosses daughter. That is until one day he is doing a favor for her father and they end up in a life or death situation.
This situation ends up changing both of them forever and the only ones who really get it are them. And that is when their relationship changes.
This book was absolutely awesome. Wonderfully written and characters I want to see again and a story I could not put down.
The only criticism I have about the book is the fact that the couple never has a condom/sexual history discussion especially since Gwen knows he was with her high school enemy prior to them getting together.
Maverick and Gwen were blazing with chemistry from the moment their eyes met you could feel the sizzle between them. These 2 legit melted my heart they were exactly what each other needed and there was nobody else who could understand their struggles like them. Their connection was so much deeper than physical or even emotionally it was soul deep.
I loved that Gwen enjoyed adventures, she was sassy and full of life. Maverick was the guy that was set in his ways until he met the woman that brought him to his knees and my was it a delicious and swoon worthy ride to take.
I love how Evan Grace writes a book and her words pull you into another world and you feel like you’re a part of the story. I felt Maverick and Gwen’s pain, their fears and joy. My chest squeezed from the deep emotions, a few tears were shed, giggling and a cheesy smile at times. The perfect amount of sass, happy feels, drama, steamy and swoon.
I adored this novel immensely and felt that it’s a charming addition to the Everyday Heroes World.
Gwen was home on vacation from her vacation blog. She goes places and does exciting things that she shares with her public. Vacation for her was to go home and spend time with her friends and family. Enter Maverick, a cop in her father's police department. He's a player. Her father is his boss. Two good reasons for them to keep their distance.
It seems fate doesn't agree. A serious accident forces them together and even after the long-delayed rescue they find they can't stay apart. Will he change his attitude about one woman in his life rather than the whole field? Will she be able to trust he has changed--if he does?
I really enjoyed this book. The family, friends, and coworkers were characters to love--especially Butch, furbaby extraordinaire. There is plenty of steam. A good story with all the rest makes for a great read even in a bit shorter length book. Loved it. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On.
So what do you do when the woman you were never expecting to meet turns out to be your boss’s daughter? Well, if you’re Maverick, you act like a jerk to throw everyone off track, but find yourself falling for her more every day. And while Maverick was a complete and utter tool a few times, he didn’t take long to recognize his errors or immediately apologize for them. As for Gwen, she’s a woman who knows her worth and she’s not about to simply roll over because a hot guy is a jerk. Nope. She’ll live her life and show him that she’s not going to just wait for him to catch a clue.
I really liked how both Maverick and Gwen had some growing to do (more him than her, for sure), and I liked that the drama around them didn’t take over the plot, but served as the necessary nudge to keep things moving. This read was quick, fun, entertaining, and left me hoping for Taylor’s story sooner than later.
~Maverick Graves & Gwen Malone~ Gah! These two!! Maverick is a certified playboy. He is very honest about it. Gwen is a YouTuber/video blogger/adventurer. She is very carefree and always looking for the next adventure.
The spark between is there instantly yet Maverick doesn't want to pursue anything due to Grant being his boss and all. Yet, they can't help getting closer. They understand each other.
I have to say that Maverick has done a good job of turning his life over. From a certified playboy to a doted and devoted boyfriend, he does good. Gwen is also a strong woman. She knows what she wants and she isn't afraid to pursue it.
The love may happen instantly but the connection is long-lasting and forever. Thoroughly enjoy every second of this story! Can't wait for Troy & Taylor's story~!
I'm such a HUGE fan of Evan Grace, and she's become a one click for me without me reading any sort of description because she lets me down. Gwen has a wandering soul as she's a travel vlogger but she comes home to decide her next move, which is where she meets Maverick. She's been warned off of him since he's a player so she's trying to stay away from him. Maverick wants Gwen badly but since she's his boss's daughter, he's going out of his way to be a jerk to her. However, they find themselves in a dangerous situation that could have killed them, so they aren't going to dance around each other anymore. Don't forget that Gwen is the boss's daughter which may or may not become complicated. So how does it all play out in the end?! Hit those one click buttons to find out as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
4.6 stars This is the first book I have read by the author and it is a welcome addition to the Everyday Heroes World. Police Chief’s daughter, Gwen, meets the playboy police officer, Maverick, and these two just burn up the pages. Gwen is an independent, travel junkie with a propensity for the adrenaline rush. Maverick is a man who does not do relationships yet winds up casually sleeping with the woman who made Gwen’s life miserable during high school. However, when two people are meant to be, fate sometimes steps in and forces the issue which has Gwen and Maverick making some changes. This is one storyline that you will not be able to put down once started. The chemistry between Gwen and Maverick is HOT. I am looking forward to more from these characters and hope that Taylor, Gwen’s sister, will get her story told next. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
A sexy, scorching hot story of fate and the unexpected. Maverick and Gwen are both independent and happy with their current lifestyles, but an accident puts them on a path where they cannot deny what is between them. What follows is a sweet, and very racy, love story.
I love small town books, this one didn't disappoint me. Everyday hero's is what this book is based on. I love that Maverick is a cop in a small town. that's where he wants to be. Gwen is the chief of police's daughter what could ever go wrong with that. you have two people with two different back grounds. one common ground is they were both in an accident that could have very well taken both their lives. can the two find love with one who never wanted to be in a serious relationship and one that is jet setting all over the world because she loves adventure. but could the real adventure be the two starting a life together. For me this book had all the feelings. loved every page of it.
I love second generation stories! And that is exactly what this is, Evan Grace has written a fast paced story about Gwen and Maverick. Gwen is Grant and Emerson’s oldest daughter, to say she takes after her mother is a understatement. Gwen loves adventure but even her love for adventure doesn’t prepare her for Maverick.
This is a really quick read that checks all the boxes, Evan does a great job giving this group a characters a fresh look. You are going to fall for Gwen and Maverick the same way you fell for their parents.
There’s some drama, minimal angst and so much steam you may not want to read it in mixed company if you don’t want to explain why you are blushing. 😉
This was a great book. Evan Grace does a great job, and is quickly becoming one of my 1-click authors
Rescued is part of the K. Bromberg Every Day Heroes World and was well written. The writing of this story was done in a way that really pulled me into the story. The story was full of emotion and drama that really sucked me into the storyline.
Gwen was the strong heroine of the story that loved to travel. I enjoy the way that she loves adventure.
Maverick was the hot alpha male that has a reputation as being a ladies man. I really loved the way that he tries to protect Gwen and look after her.
I really enjoyed the chemistry between these two characters and how they had an immediate connection. This was the first book I have read of this author and I really liked their writing style. This was a fun and quick read that left me entertained throughout the story.
Gwen is a travel writer who returns home for a break and to catch up with her family and friends. Maverick is a playboy tattooed police officer, and he does not want relationships hence his reputation. Gwen is also the daughter of the chief of police, and when her dad asks him for a favour her agrees and they end up travelling together and when they end up in an accident, they become closer together and frankly cannot keep away from each other. When Mav starts acting like a jerk will this be the end of them? This is a beautifully written story which is intense, emotional, and a steamy and poignant love story. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend for all.
I'm new to the Everyday Heroes World, but I'll read anything by Evan Grace so I had no problems digging right in. Rescued reads as a standalone I didn't feel like I was missing anything. Maverick was introduced to the story as a total player, but I never got that vibe. Gwen was warned away by her sisters, and Maverick desperately tried to steer clear of his boss's daughter. After the two of them get stuck together in a traumatic event, they seek each other out for comfort and their relationship turns steamy fast. The plot was interesting, Maverick and Gwen were completely into each other, and the ending made me want to read more of the series. Overall, an excellent read.
Gwen is home temporarily while taking a break from her travels. When she meets hot cop Maverick, she’s intrigued but vows to stay away from the playboy. Maverick is definitely attracted to Gwen, but purposely stays away from his boss’s daughter, not wanting to get on his bad side. But a car accident changes all their plans. Can Gwen trust Maverick, and can he change his playboy image to prove to her she’s the only one for him? Another fantastic read from this author. Looking forward to Troy and Taylor’s book!
If you want to nice steamy read, this is the book for you. You can feel the heat between Maverick and Gwen from the first meeting. I am loving Maverick and Gwen's story. I would love to see more from this couple. I can't wait to see Taylor's and Troy's story. I haven't read any of the others in this universe, but I am looking forward to reading more. I loved this book.
Oh my gosh, I loved this novel! From the very first page, this novel sucked me in and would not let go until the very last page. Even then I did not want it to end. I loved Maverick and Gwen. Oh my gosh, the chemistry was so hot. I loved the dialogue and banter. So good! I loved Gwen and her adventurous spirit. I love when a novel can make you laugh, bring you to tears, and leave you with a smile on your face. This novel checked all of my boxes and I loved it! I can't wait to see what this author does next.
This book will give you all the feels. Gwen and Maverick are two adorable characters. One event changes everything for them. No one understand what they are going through but each other. Maverick works for Gwen’s dad and he respects that.
That one event changes everything because the chemistry is stronger than anything but is that enough? These two will have to learn how to give up the things they love and change their ways.
Wow, this book had some heart stopping moments, but also kept you on your toes. I couldn't put this book down once started.
I loved Gwen and Maverick together, they may of been different in different ways. But they work. They had to go through something together for everything to full into place. They give each other peace and help each other in different ways.
