The author believes that the mills in Manayunk as the beginning of labor organization in the United States and presents a valid case. For those who want to learn about the history of Manayunk and the industry there, whether or not you are interested in organized labor, this is a great resource. Three generations of my family lived there, most of them working in the mills, so it was really helpful in adding context.
