Love and Lush #2

Heaven Sent

Rate this book
Johnnie Vega grew up never knowing his father’s love. Instead of receiving praise for his musical expertise, he garnered criticism and ridicule. That anger with his father ignited a fire inside Johnnie to prove his worth. Together with his band, Lush, Johnnie rose to superstardom. But the fame and fortune the bad boy drummer found didn’t heal the wounds of his heart. Instead they fueled his destructive behaviors. No matter how many times he checked himself into rehab the demons of his past would not let go. And when his best friend, Caesar Blue died in a tragic accident, Johnnie spiraled out of control.
Until Melanie.
This gift of love sent to him from his lost friend, means everything to him, and gave him the strength to finally get clean. With Melanie, he has found a happiness he’s never known. And with her they have created a new life. The man who grew up at odds with his own father, will now be a father for the first time.
But when the baby comes early, Johnnie is faced with the worst possible outcome. Raising his child alone. Can he face a future without Melanie? He’s not sure, and as those doubts take seed and begin to grow, he finds himself losing his strength to go on and his will to stay sober. There’s only one person who can help Johnnie, but he died long ago. But if Caesar returned once, surely, he can do it again?

As a child, Cherié Summers, dreamed of being a writer. And it's in her dreams that Ms. Summers finds inspiration. At age eighteen, a dream she had about her favorite rock star, Billy Idol, turned into her first novel, Start the Fire. But, Ms. Summers didn't get serious about publishing that novel until she turned fifty. Nearly six years later, she has seven published books to her name.

Star the Fire begins her Love on Fire series which she describes as "drama filled, erotic romance about love, sex, friendship, and rock and roll". There are five books in the series that chronicle the trials, tribulations, and romances of the fictional band, Lightning.

For the book Eternally Wild, Ms. Summers veered away from her series to take a stab at paranormal romance. However, the book is still grounded in music. The inspiration for Eternally Wild also came from a dream. One in which Ms. Summers met the ghost of Michael Hutchence. She was compelled to begin writing the book on the 20th anniversary of his death and is thrilled with the outcome, calling it her "steamiest" creation to date.

Writing is only one of Ms. Summers' creative passions. She is also an avid photographer, specializing in portrait photography of animals, nature, and people. Another creative outlet she revels in is belly dancing. She teaches the art of Middle Eastern dance through her local community education program. She also enjoys traveling to music concerts and pop culture conventions with her daughter, Kayla. Atlanta is a favorite destination, and Ms. Summers' dream is to move there when she retires from her day job.

I dislike reading books out of order. But that's not why I deducted a star. I got tired of the back-and-forth whiny stuff more than anything. And it drug on forever. I got the gist of he's a big ole rock and roll star from back in the day. He's run into his one true love basically, but never could man up and stop hurting her or her feelings... until now. But even with great expectations sometimes it's comes with hardships too. He now must try to go on with being an only parent to their son. And everyone thinking their two cents will help him out. But what if that's not what he needs? Can a friend from the past really help him... You will need a tissue in some parts so beware 😢 🤧.

Fantastic Follow-up To Book One!

This book did a great job with mixing present and past. Showing the tremendous amount of love all of these characters share. It was at times, heartbreaking, and also heartwarming. Truly worth reading! I highly recommend reading book one before starting this book. You won't regret giving this series a chance!

First, I want to thank Cherie Summers for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

I am so glad that Cherie Summers is back to continue her rock and roll series. Out of all the books in this series Heaven Sent is my ultimate fave. I highly suggest you read her books in order and not as a standalone. There is a ton of history with all of the characters that you will be so lost if you just read this one.

This series is the series for you if you love rock and roll bands, celebrities, wanted to know what it was like to go behind the scenes. This book was quite different from the rest of the series. This one pulled on your heart strings in many directions. At times my emotions were all over the place and I started tearing up.

Cherie wrote an incredibly beautiful story. She seemed so incredibly passionate about the characters she was writing about. It totally showed through her writing that there was a special place in her heart for many of these characters.

Personally, I am a huge fans of dolphins. I think they are so beautiful and amazing. Their symbolism into the storyline and the meaning to the characters blew my mind. What an amazing way to think outside of the box.

Very detailed account of the life and lifestyle of Johnnie. I didn't read book one but I think this book stands alone pretty well. Very steamy. It's also very intense as the layers of struggle dealing with heartbreak, heartache, healing and love on a new level. The paranormal was a little odd but a nice twist. In my opinion, after all the good, bad and even ugly situations in his life, Johnnie always gives 100% effort to it. Very emotional. I received a free copy without obligation and am voluntarily reviewing.

I thought this book was good. It wasn't great but it was good. I liked most of the characters enough. It had paranormal aspects to the book but it wasn't the focus of the entire story. I liked some parts of the story and didn't care for other parts of it. The relationship between the main characters was strong and nothing could come between them not even death. I have not read this author before that i can recall but I may pick up another book by her. I am sure others would enjoy reading this book and may like it more than I did.

For the most part, I really enjoyed this story, and it was quite a roller coaster ride for my emotions. Johnnie's history and current situation touched me, and the support from his band and family was great. His connection to Melanie was intense and very driven. The spiritual side bothered me somewhat, and I felt that it was not quite necessary for the story to progress and still would have touched me deeply. I do recommend the story, just keep some tissues nearby.

I received a copy of this story through CBR Services, and this is my unsolicited review.

The second book in the Love and Lush series it is well written, but I would say read these books in order. This is the first book that I have read, I now want to read the first book. Johnnie Vega and Melanie will have so much to get through in this story. They now have a son Michael and with Caesar’s help Johnnie will still be okay. A beautiful heartwarming story of true love, with despair, and joy. I recommend. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
