The sublime message of Bhagavad Gita is timeless and is applicable in every facet of life. Within the Bhagavad Gita are the answers to the mysteries of existence – our real purpose in this world, how we should act and why we suffer, or are oftentimes helpless in our struggle for survival.
To understand the Bhagavad Gita one must enter into the spirit of the Gita by accepting the path of devotion (bhakti). Accordingly, the Gita’s message cannot be properly understood by mental speculation. To this end, the sublime process illuminated within the Gita must be accepted as given by the speaker Himself, Sri Krishna.
The philosophy of Bhagavad Gita is clear for the sincere reader, yet for some, approaching the Gita may seem daunting – its language too ancient. However, this obstacle is easily overcome by a straightforward translation and commentary (Anuvritti). The requirement for a translation and commentary on the Gita is as necessary today as anytime in the past. With the passing of time, our values and our worldview are constantly changing, and this demands a fresh approach to the understanding of the Gita.
Typical ISKCON stuff. I don't understand why Gita has to be read in light of mythology. Plus it states only God is Krsna and all others, including Lord Shiva and Shakti, are servents to Krsna. Did not complete it as it felt that the author doesn't really has enough knowledge to explain Gita. Highly biased.
Nothing but the Absolute Truth. Only for those who can put two and two together and work it all out for themselves. Only the seekers will find and finish this book. Will also be reading the copy by Swami Prabhupada soon.
The writing style did not work for me. I expected a more practical guide for applying Bhagavad Gita to modern life, which is not what this book is for. I did not find it palatable for the average reader. It's called the millennial edition but felt more like Krisha fanaticism more than anything. It's probably inspired by a specific sect/cult. The writing felt biased and does not go with the core Hindu principle of flexibility and choice. Does nothing for my search of the 21st century version of Gita.
I would highly recommend this version of the Bhagavad Gita to anyone curious about this classic work of Eastern spirituality. It is accessible, easy to understand and has a great introduction/preface to help you understand the context and background needed to make sense of the text. Very well done.
The translations are good. It explains the Sanskrit texts well. When reading the Anuvrittis one needs to apply necessary directions so that it applies to self
Another bhagwat Gita in Sanskrit how much ever u read this there is so much more to comprehend. A book which every author narration is nice and can always give a different prepaying your thoughts
The commentary section (author's views) was peppered with views on how one God is superior than others - which is not mentioned in the Gita. The personal views overshadows the essence of Gita.
I appreciate the effort of writing this book, but I mostly felt like book repeating same words of bhakti yoga and not giving essence the gita. The not give satisfaction which given by small author.
