I picked up this book after my mother died of lung cancer earlier this year. I suppose it was putting the cart before the horse, but, I found it to be a comforting book. I did not read the book cover to cover but picked out the chapters that were related to my mother's diagnosis, treatment, and death. I found that the course of treatment followed by my mother's doctors was supported by this book. In the end, it made me feel a bit better that we had all done what we could and that she did, in fact, have a good doctor.
