Diablo Falls

First Sight

Rate this book
It isn’t love at First Sight, or is it?

Sparks fly from the moment Gwen and Tyr meet.

And as much as they both resist, there’s no denying their fate.

Gwen had no clue who she was tempting with her smart mouth and scathing glances. Tyr wanted to put the fiery human in her place. She was hard to ignore, even before he discovered the secret in her blood, a secret that could alter the balance of power among vampires. Something had to be done to silence the maddening human.

Tyr was that pompous, overdressed man who frequented the bar. He had the sex appeal of a modern-day Norse god, but the personality of a Viking raider. It didn’t matter that Tyr radiated an unworldly power, Gwen refused to fear him. After all, he wasn’t the only one who was unique. And though he claimed good intention, his actions said otherwise.

First Sight is the story of how Gwen and Tyr meet, but it is only the beginning of their tale. They must first bridge the gap between them if there’s any hope of solving the mystery of who’s threatening humans and vampires alike.

Thank you for your interest in my fairy tales.

Here's to the imagination and a little daydream.

Writing is my hobby. As a child, I had a hard time learning to read, so anything I took an interest in was deemed acceptable. I have always enjoyed fairy tales, the older unsanitized versions, as well as the modern ones, mythology, science fiction, action and romance. As I read, my mind wanders, spinning its own tales. So, I figured I’d share my ramblings with you.
The books I write contain little snippets from my life. I leave it to you to decide which scenes are fact, fiction, or a bit of both. I am far braver and bolder than is likely sensible, so my heroines are just as gutsy. I'd probably be categorized as an adrenalin junky. My life has been an adventure. I've done archaeology in the hot sun, am well versed with power tools, took Tae Kwon Do in college, have ridden on a Harley with a dark stranger, but never met an alien, vampire or shifter, that I know of.
My stories are tawdry, feature a heroine who is gifted in some way, and will always end happily ever after. It is my opinion this is meant to be entertainment, and a depressing ending is not entertainment. Real life offers enough depressing crap. However, I have been called dark.
My apologies for my horrific grammar. It is something I struggle with. It is probably connected to the slow reading thing. Believe me people have tried. I truly hope that my fairy tales make up for it.

2.5 but I’ll give it a 3 because I usually love this author.
I absolutely hated the heroine. She was always screaming or throwing something. I get it, she’s mad, but can she evolve past her tantrums? I really couldn’t connect with her and felt like the h was babysitting some angry toddler.
The writing felt rushed like everything was being condensed so we could get enough info to read the other books in the series. I’m really not a fan of these author collabs on multiple books unless you’re Tiffany Roberts and then it somehow works.
I’m hoping we will get new material from the author soon, her other books were always a go to for me and I really enjoy her world building.

All you dam authors need to go chat with each other and have a guide book to follow. CAUSE HOW CAN THIS MC DIE IN ANOTHER BOOK. No isn't spoiler cause it doesn't happen in this book. Really hurts this series. Also the guy was basically watching over a buthurt baby.

Spicy!

A super quick read with a good story line and lots of spice. I think the story was a little too short.

I give this 3.5 stars with a lean closer to 4. This is the second book in this collection of shorts based around a small town in the mountains called Diablo Falls that I have read (First Instinct being the other). To clarify, the books appear to be in no way truly connected except for in location, so reading order is not at all important.

First Sight is a novelette about a psychic and a very old vampire. Tyr is a bit pompous, but I did rather enjoy the little dance he and Gwen did around one another (love to hate anyone), probably more than is quite sane. Gwen was fun and I enjoyed her parts immensely. From what I can tell (and I hope or this deserves less stars), this book is really just a part of a whole story, and it really felt that way. It felt like an introduction to the characters and a kind of first meeting intro into a story. The author's little blurb at the end of the book gives me hope she intends to finish the story.

I'll have to reserve overall feelings until the story is complete. If you want a short and more tart than sweet, but definitely entertaining, romance, then this is a good go. Quick and easy to read.

A quick, exciting read that left me longing for more!
Love at first sight! Acceptance, though, took a bit longer. Short, yes, and well written, with a taste of what’s in store for us in the ongoing series. I enjoyed this view of vampires. They are sometimes depicted as amoral, out of control beings. Control is definitely Tyr’s aim. He is in charge, much to Gwen’s regret. I have to laugh with Gwen. I like this girl! She has quite a knack for getting under Tyr’s skin: very creative thinking that kept me snickering! It’s a fascinating story concept, with Gwen’s secret placing her in grave danger. I’m hoping we’ll see the next book in the set soon - I can’t wait!

I am so frustrated i was so getting in to this book i loved Gwen her snarkiness and Tyr how frustrating he is when the book ended it frustrated me to not have a proper ending.

Part books annoy me especially when you have to wait for the next book or you dont get told that the book is in parts......

So annoyed.

Ps I thought the writing was strong and i know how hard short stories are to write as you have to condense it down and in no way am i blaming the author i just wanted a hea i really wanted to see the characters kick butt and for maybe even an awesome wedding.

Wow this was so hot! Gwen and Tyr have such an explosive chemistry I could feel it just from reading it. This one of the hottest sex scenes ever. There are many interesting characters in Diablo Falls. The H and h have a crazy enemies to lovers kind of thing going on. The fact that they could not stand each other was even more hot. I laugh so hard at Gwens antics to get revenge on him. And I was so disappointed when it ended so quickly but I guess so it’s a short story after all. Well on to the next one. I highly recommend for paranormal lovers out there.

Can't wait for more!!

I am captivated with Tyr and Gwen. They could say they hated each other all they wanted but don't they say, There's a fine line between love and hate." There's more to this story to come and I can't wait. Gwen's visions tell of things to come. Tyr has to protect her so they can see what their future holds. Great story. I highly recommend but be prepared for a bit of a cliffhanger. Excited for more of the story from these two.

Interesting prequel looking forward to more

He is not use to anyone standing up to him as he has lived a long time. So imagine his surprise when the little bartender gives back snarkiness.

I can’t believe that Ms. West did this to me, I never spect a HFN book from her, but here it is. Don’t get me wrong; the book is fantastic, I guess that’s why it is so hard for me to be cut short and not know what is going to happen

The bickering between Tyr and Gwen is outrageous and so funny. The 2000 year old vampire has found his match. On to the next installment.

First time reading this author. The story was pretty good. Enjoyed the characters, and their very different personalities, and chemistry.
