FROM POPULAR ROMANCE AUTHOR JAMBREA JO JONES

Remington knows not to date employees, but when his father throws down an ultimatum, everything changes. Elros only wants overtime but what he gets instead…

Remington doesn’t want a boyfriend. He’s content with his playboy behavior and extravagant lifestyle, but his father is pushing the issue and wants him to settle down. When an employee comes to him with a request for overtime, he decides to kill two birds with one stone. He can have a pretend boyfriend, which will make his father happy, and Remington will be able to keep his trust fund and the way of life that goes with it. What could go possibly wrong? He’s willing to find out.

Elros needs money—and fast. His boss offers him an opportunity—a bribe, really—to be his fake boyfriend in exchange for a nice-sized payment. Elros isn’t sure living a real-life soap opera is for him, but the money is too good to pass up when his mother has cancer and the bills are adding up faster than he can blink. Maybe playing pretend could work.

This was... okay. I wasn't blown away, but neither was I bored with the book. I had some hang-ups with the story, but those are probably mine, and YMMV.

First off, the title seems to hint at the billionaire bribing his employee to fake being his boyfriend. A bribe is a bit more sinister than what actually happens - the boss/billionaire offering his employee the ability to make some money on the side in exchange for playing the doting boyfriend.

Secondly, there are only so many billionaires in this world, and I couldn't quite fathom how Remi would have made these billions with the work he does or the company he owns.

I'm not going to rehash the blurb here, which tells you everything you need to know about the first couple of chapters of this book. I wasn't quite expecting the fake boyfriend thing to turn into a real boyfriend thing so quickly. I liked both MCs well enough, and I thought that they were well suited to each other. Remi is obviously surprised at himself when he finds that faking it with Elros isn't as fake as he thought it would be, and Elros didn't expect to fall for his boss.

There's some angst here too and some pain, what with Elros' mother dying of cancer, which is portrayed as having the potential to derail the budding romance, and I thought that while Elros' actions were mostly understandable, keeping his mother's illness a secret from Remi for longer than needed wasn't conducive to the relationship. Remi on the other hand, being initially portrayed as someone who's only interested in 'pump and dump', playing the field and enjoying his status in life, falls hard and fast and opens himself up wide to Elros pretty much from the get-go. He's all in, where Elros seems more hesitant.

Remi's father and Elros' mother were both very nice supporting characters, both bringing some wisdom and levity to the pages of this book.

Overall, this was an okay book for me. While the emotions are written on the page, I didn't really feel them, and often this felt more tell than show. I wasn't fully engaged with the characters and that prevented me from really rooting for them. Again, YMMV.

The fake boyfriend gambit leads to something more real as the two men realize that there’s an honest rapport between them. Neither Remi nor El realized how alone they were. El doesn’t just see Remi as either his boss or the guy he has the crush on; he sees him as a person, as someone he likes and likes talking to. When Remi looks at El, he sees a good guy who makes him feel comfortable and safe, and — used to getting what he wants — Remi reaches out for El, only to find El reaching back.

Remy needs a fake boyfriend to reassure his dad he’ll settle down and be serious about it, so his father will not keep him on a leash with money.
Elros needs to ask his boss for more work hours so he can pay for his mother’s health bills. Stepping into his boss’s office he understands he can’t make more hours, but he can act like his boyfriend, fake of course, but still, get paid for it.

They start a fake relationship, El didn’t tell Remy about his mother who is very ill and terminal.
Their fake relationship turns into more very fast.
It seems like a piece of cake but it’s far from that. Remy’s ex-boyfriend and El’s dying mother cuts a gap between them. El’s grief and pride keeps Remy at bay, Remy is afraid it’s not temporary.

This was a sweet and kind story about two men who carefully find each other’s hearts, there was a lot of room made for El and his mother. Maybe it was on purpose to build the story around them, for me it was a bit too depressing. I would have loved to read more about the two men together under different circumstances. For some balance, I missed the compassion about the fact that Remy also lost his mother. To be honest, generally, I missed some depth.
After accepting these facts, I can conclude the story was enjoyable, the hurtful moments were nicely expressed, there are some endearing secondary characters I loved.
Overall a slightly developed story with a surprisingly satisfying end.

This story has been done much better elsewhere. Here it is amateur fanfiction. While the author was able to set the scene effectively, the instant the two mc's actually spoke to each other, it was as though a child was writing. People do not speak this way!!!!!!!
Do yourself a favour and read something else instead!

The story is full of love and it's also bittersweet.

El and Remi are two men that have a !o in common but don't realize that they do. Sadness is on El's side...his mom is dying and it's hard on him. Remi has been burnt in love and has sworn not to get involved again. The two men come together but not without being tested.

Good premise, not so good execution.

This was started with a good premise and then fell into a black hole of grief. I've never seen a grown man that was that grief stricken for his mother. Ugh, cry, cry, cry. Half the book was the main character whining to himself and others.

Remi finds love with El

This was a slow burn sad story. Remi was so read set finding a man to love and So was so busy taking care of his mom. These two were so sweet together.

This fell into the land of good, but nothing that had me jumping out of my seat. I liked Remi and Elros as a couple and really the "let me pay you to be my fake boyfriend" trope really didn't last long. Both guys realize pretty quickly that they really do actually like spending time with each other and it's more about working out how to make things work than hiding their real relationship.

I think it is everyone’s dream to meet a billionaire with a heart of gold, and Jambrea Jo Jones has certainly given us one with her character Remington Marlow. A man who works hard for his own fortune and career, even though he has a trust fund waiting for him whenever his father deems him ready to receive it. But as a family man and hopeless romantic at heart, Jackson Marlow is not about to let his son Remi live the reckless bachelor life any longer, so Remi is officially cut off until he can settle down with a man he loves.

The relationship between father and son in this book is so heartwarming. While they toss ultimatums back and forth to each other, it is clear that it all comes from a place of love and mutual respect for one another. This however, does not stop Remi from trying to find a loophole. He thinks that perhaps he could pay someone to be his fake boyfriend, and his father would see that he was trying, without really having to try. This idea becomes all the more appealing with the appearance of the sexy, single, and desperately in need of money, Elros Carter.

The attraction between these two is absolutely undeniable, and watching them realize it in one another is truly exciting! These characters’ lives have been written with such care that it is easy to see the reality in them. Not everything is perfect for either Remi or El, but it is those moments that really make them shine as characters. The tension between them is thick enough to cut it with a knife, and their resistance to each other is almost as sensual as their inevitable ignition of their spark. Bound by their pasts, and their uncertainty in the future, Remi and El build and break barriers in their relationship creating a new depiction of sexy that is nearly unattainable.

The Billionaire’s Bribe is a fast-paced read that encompasses the exhilaration of mutual attraction, the realities of everyday life, and the desire to be wanted by someone for more than just money. Give your heart over easily to this book, because Remi and El will do enough overthinking for you, and their story is not one to miss!

What a great story!
From Remi's frustration at Dad for his "restrictions" on his inheritance through the tough times and to the wonderful end of this story.
I will admit, I teared up a few times throughout the book. I love a book that grabs me by the emotions, shakes them up then smooths them back out.
Fantastic read! Thank you to the author for giving us a look into the future and what a future it is!
I received an advanced Readers Copy for an honest review.

✔ Letto! Siamo a Fort Wayne e qui ho conosciuto Remington Marlow e Elros Carter.
Per me è ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

What a very fun book this is to read. Jambrea made some great characters in Remi and Elros. I loved Jackson and how he made so many demands. The story progressed wonderfully and the feelings each of the characters carried for one another deepen.
The story is realistic to a point. Remi put up with a lot of stuff.

I do recommend this book who loves the genre.

I did received an ARC.
