This book gives step by step instructions for 'kusudama' of modular origami. Modular origami can assemble small folded units to create complex shapes like 'Kusudama'. The unit named 'Ohana' introduced in this book is a universal unit that can create multiple shapes (polyhedrons) with the same unit. The unit types introduce all 19 types, including basic forms and their variations. It can be made from a small model of only 6 sheets to a large model of 150 sheets, and a total of 282 models can be created. In this book, photos of 77 works are shown as examples. All units use square paper and you can start making them right away. Instructions use a lot of pictures and photos to make it easy for beginners to understand. This book gives contents that can be enjoyed for a long time from beginners to advanced users.
Great book for both new and advanced folders alike.
This book is a wonderful resource for those with an interest in modular origami. This book certainly fulfilled Its duty by providing all the basics folds, steps in folding each model, helpful tips and recommendations to help make the process a lot easier and less overwhelming. And I most certainly recommend this book to those who are starting out and\or those who lack a comprehensive understanding of the underlying geometrical structure these models are built upon. Each polygonal structure is comprehensively displayed, dissipating much confusion the folder without such visual comprehension would likely have encountered during the last stages of connecting the folded units. Lastly, I also favor the visual representation of each model consisting differing of a different number of units. As such, reinforcing the importance of the information provided on the polygonal geometric structures that each masterpiece is built upon. Such mathematical knowledge is not required to complete the beauties contained within this book, but it certainly helps. I personally didn't have such knowledge when I first discovered this art form a few years back, but I now have a greater appreciation of what has been built before me. And now I can't wait to make more.
