I enjoyed this book but I thought the characters focused a bit too much on sex. Also, Lark clearly has a lot of unresolved issues from her past. She’s amazing but I think she would greatly benefit from some therapy. Overall, a fun little story.

I love these books, set in the same universe but all very much standalone stories. The length of this story puts it somewhere between a novella and a full length novel for me, so the perfect thing to read in a lazy afternoon.
Lark is a local woman who grew up in an Army town. She has a bunch of baggage from her childhood that helps her establish pretty firm boundaries. Unfortunately for her, they involve not developing any attachments to men. While she is certainly justified in her beliefs, her life is in for a bunch of change in the coming months, with or without men. She's determined to get her degree and do it all on her own.
Enter Nolan, the army guy that will push her to re-evaluate her life from this point forward. Nolan is a career soldier who has no intention of finding a relationship in town. During a low key bachelor party he ends up meeting Lark, who immediately sparks his interest. Some verrrrry sizzling time ensue, and according to them both, that's where it should have ended. Lucky for us, they end up breaking all their rules. The relationship was super duper sexy, but also pretty romantic. If you enjoy romance and some smutty goodness, this is certainly a book you'll enjoy.

Another wonderful read by Tawdra Kandle. She can weave a story with what seems like so little effort and you are just along for the ride. 4 ½ stars for this most recent Career Soldier entry.
Lark doesn't want to be like her mother, but she finds herself more like her than she'd like. When a bachelor party ends up at the bar she works in, will she get distracted by a handsome face? She doesn't want happy ever after, but does it want her?
Nolan joins the military as a way to figure out his future. He never thought he'd love it, or become an officer. When his friend's bachelor party ends up at a bar, the happy ever after he never wanted walks straight into his life.
Lark and Nolan try desperately to not want each other as much as they do. They push and pull and find all the reasons why it shouldn't be. Can they see past the sheer terror and commit or will their ideas of how it should be, push them apart for good.

I loved this sweet, tender military romance!
Lark's childhood was pretty messed up by her mother's never-ending search for her own HEA, which always ran through the local military cadets at nearby West Point. Determined to never end up like her mom, Lark maintains a one-and-done approach to men. Which works just fine for her. Until Nolan comes back for seconds.
Nolan isn't looking for a townie to forge a forever with either, but there's just something about Lark that keeps drawing him back, regardless of the warnings of his own heart, regardless of her own oft-stated refusal to consider anything other than FWB.
The romance is slow-building yet emotionally charged, while their physical connection is off the charts. I enjoyed the connection to the author's earlier Career Soldier connection, even if just a glimpse. I loved the cathartic awakening that leads to a sweet-as-pie grand gesture, sealing their HEA without any compromises necessary. The story addresses the difficulties of military romance with honesty and forthrightness.
At the end, we're given hints about the couples in the ensuing books, and I'm very much looking forward to reading them. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Lark’s a smart, independent woman determined not to make her mother’s mistakes. Nolan’s not interested in ever after, just what feels good right now. When he gets a glimpse of Lark’s sassy humor and sexy sway, he’s more than interested, but Lark’s single-minded resolve is to keep things between them casual. Even though she finds something appealing in Nolan, she’s never going to let herself get into a serious relationship. Of course, you know what they say about “never.”
This is a sexy, heartwarming romance filled with a few emotional ups and downs and plenty of steamy passion. Lark’s and Nolan’s characters play well together, and the storyline draws you in at the beginning, tugs at your heartstrings throughout, and leaves you grinning from ear to ear at the end. This is a story that draws you in and keeps you engaged longer than a novella but shorter than a normal novel it is long enough that you fall in love with the characters and they develop right in front of your eye This is lark and Nolan's story
Both of these characters don't want to get attached they both want it to be just a one night stand each has their own baggage but love will always find a way and in this case it knocks these two for a loop. Nolan only joined the military because he didn't know what else to do when he finished school he had no idea that he would actually find his calling in life but he also knew that it wasn't conducive to a relationship but that was OK he intended to remain single all his life Lark has seen how her mother continually chasing love and destroyed not only her own life but Larks in the process and she had no intention of ever needing a man. So what happens when these two find that they can't walk away from one another You will have to read to see.

Book one in the Career Soldier: West Point Tour of Duty series. This is a steamy romance that is nicely written with well developed characters, easy to visualize detailed descriptions and emotional character development.
Lark and Nolan hook up for a one night stand.....they always do the one and done and move on to someone else. Nolan though, just can not seem let go and keeps coming back for more. Lark is afraid that she will end up like her mom, if she looks for a HEA ending. She saw her mother fall for guy after guy hoping for her own HEA and ending up heartbroken time and time again.
Written as a 1st person, multi pov with a HFN ending.

Such a touching (tears of joy) romance story. Love, Lark she is so strong, independent, stubborn and full of pride. Love Nolan even more, he is such a melt your heart military man, he is very confident in himself yet not conceited and such a gentleman. They are almost complete opposites and their friendship is such a natural progression that love is inevitable, how can you find love when you're not even looking for it? This book felt like it was all about the chase. Or in Nolan’s case, the patient waiting while his quarry came to him. Lark broke my heart at the same time as she frustrated the living daylights out of me. She has so much emotional scar tissue built up, I was beyond impressed that Nolan was able to get past her defenses. Nolan is just everything sweet and charming I expect a military hero to be. I hated that he had to, but I loved watching him prove his love to Lark, Now, I’m looking forward to reading what else this series has in store for us.

I love contemporary military romances when they are written with such a depth of emotion as is found in this book which is about Nolan, a career soldier with no thoughts or aspirations to anything other than his military career who then meets Lark, a former army brat who grew up on military bases and who has determined that she has no use for men at all, especially not a by-the-book career soldier. The story that follows is wonderfully told as we get to see two people come up against that ultimate life-changer known as love. Their HEA is slow-build but hot as h**l. A Tawdra Kandle book you do not want to miss!

This book is part of the West Point Tour of Duty series. This is Lark and Noah's story. Lark grew up with a Mom that was forever searching for her prince charming. Lark is not interested in prince charming and a HEA but she is interested in Noah when he walks into the bar one night that she works at. Noah joined the Army as a young man and has made it his career as an officer. A one night stand takes these two great characters by surprise but is it enough to convince them to become a couple. This is a new author for me. I enjoyed this story and cannot wait to read more of this series.

They're both one and done. No dates No repeats. No commitments. So why is he back at her door? And why does she let him in? I love Lark - no bs and no games. She's smart and sassy. She knows what she wants, and she's not afraid to go after it. Nolan must be the sexiest man in the entire US Army, and a genuinely nice guy. And the two of them together? Holy hotness... This is my first read from this author, and I've got more from her lined up and ready to go.

This is a heartwarming love story with strong characters in Lark and Nolan. The author brings tons of emotions taking their relationship from friendship to finding love when least expected. It's well written,flows fluidly and I loved reading.

A perfect read for a lazy afternoon or just before bed. The story is well written, the characters are engaging and have sizzling chemistry. I enjoyed this book. A steamy enjoyable read. This is my first time reading this author and I will be on the lookout for more.

Lark’s childhood was less than perfect. She carries a lot of baggage in regards to herself and relationships. Army captain Nolan Isn’t into commitment so he and Lark think alike. But this starts to change. These characters spend a lot of time in bed. The story revolves around Lark learning to trust in love.

Lark works in a bar. She doesn't do relationships because she saw her mother get hurt over and over. Nolan is in the Army and trains recruits at West Point to become MPs. He doesn't do relationships either. They meet at the bar she works at and end up having a one night stand. Nether can stop thinking of each other. I really enjoyed this book.

I enjoyed this military romance. It's a fairly quick read where a meaningless night turns into so much more. I really like the characters in this nicely developed story. Lark and Nolan meet in a bar and sparks definitely fly between them. This is a very captivating story and sexy read.

This is a steamy romance with lots of emotion. Lark has trust issues and doesn't expect of fall for Nolan, he was supposed to be a one night stand, but life doesn't always turn out the way you expect. The characters are great and the story is engaging.
