I read Range - not this summary and did enjoy it . Some of the examples and material felt familiar but on the whole it made some very good points for us to consider encouraging more well rounded interests, studies and career movement.

I listened to this on audiobook and enjoyed the thoughtful perspective. Epstein compels the reader to consider the alternative to a narrow focus on a single issue and instead suggests that leaders could be well-served by honing skills sets that allow them exposure to a spectrum of experiences and ideas. One’s range is often more important to modern day leadership success than a linear focus that often prevents us from seeing or considering a bigger picture.

Epstein argues that our modern world encourages extreme specialization, but that the best rewards and resutls come from those that have more range and can synthesize accross domains.
