Many of the Cape High books have themes related to family, but I felt that Kaden's book did an especially good job of diving into the ideas of found family and biological family, how they've each shaped him and how as he becomes an adult his choices will shape his place in the different families; he exemplifies the idea that, to a great extent, family is a choice. And while he starts out the book with some big things to work through, by the end he's able to make some very good and well-reasoned choices in regard to his families and his future.
Also, it was very fun to expand our contact with/understanding of the Legends! It seems like by the end we've *probably* met all of them now, or at least heard of them.
Squeaky-clean, as usual for the Cape High books.
