Most of us are familiar with Jesus' parable of the lost sheep, the one for whom the shepherd leaves the flock of ninety-nine in the wilderness. While we may have heard this story many times, we may not have ever considered our role in it. We may never have Am I part of the "ninety-nine" or am I the "one" who has gone astray? The 99 Handbook is an invitation to examine your life of faith, beginning with where you are right now. Drawing on more than twenty years of ministry experience, author Mark Hart invites us to face the issues that are necessary for living a fulfilling life within the flock of Jesus, the Good Shepherd. With doses of humor and easy-to-read style, The 99 Handbook makes the case that a life of faith a personal relationship with Jesus is necessary, reasonable, and rewarding. It also shows that evangelization is an essential calling of every Christian.
After taking the 99 Masterclass and leading a small group at the 99 Retreat, this book was a nice continuation. My small group actually met to discuss the book for several months after the retreat! “Living the Christian life requires a shared faith; one does not live it as an individual. Seek out like-minded (and like-hearted), faith-filled people who will hold you accountable.”
This book is great when searching your heart and mind. I loved it for our 99 Small Group. While it centers on Catholics, I still think it would also be good to share with a non-Catholic friend one on one where both read, pray, and discuss the questions in depth.
