Exactly what I wanted in a recipe book for daughter and her 10 yr old. They are reading The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series. This book relates storylines and recipes very nicely. The recipes appear solid, things a person would like to eat. Ingredients are easily found, and the list required for a recipe is reasonable. The measurements are teaspoons and tablespoons, not metric as in many other Tolkien related cookbooks. The descriptions provided at each stage of the journey encourage the reader to pull up a stump-stool next to Bilbo and other travelers.

In summary, this book should be just the thing to broaden the Tolkien book experience for parent and offspring. Imagine reading of Bilbao sitting down to tea while you enjoy your own biscuit with a dab of clotted cream!
