Born in small-town Texas, Cara Carnes was a princess, a pirate, fashion model, actress, rock star and Jon Bon Jovi’s wife all before the age of 13.
In reality, her fascination for enthralling worlds took seed somewhere amidst a somewhat dull day job and a wonderful life filled with family and friends. When she’s not cemented to her chair, Cara loves travelling, photography and reading.
This book covers the span between Zero Trace and Battle Scars. It's a delightful free read. As the crew prepares for Thanksgiving and Mama Mason's homecoming, everyone has a job to do. Bree had assigned Kamren to get the turkeys to feed the gang.
Thanksgiving is a success and there are many little things that tie up loose ends as Christmas approaches. Doubts about motherhood for Mary and Vi, meeting Gage's family for Zoey, and so much more.
I am really looking forward to the next book in this series!
First christmas for the boys, TJ and Dj, they are so sweet and deserve all good things for them. The Masons are worried about their momma and the guy that's interested in her. They are very protective. Jesse and Ellie are another matter. He's been thru hell from the war and their story is next.
Love these "extra" novellas. In a series this big it's nice to have some of the "in betweens" that really keep the story alive and give more insight into the characters over time.
I adore everything by Cara Carnes, the short stories in between are a great treat that always gives you more of a look at the end of the last book and then introduces the next book.

Provides a little closure form Zero Trace and a little introduction to Battle Scares.
I had not read any of the “The Arsenal” books, but after this introduction to the series, I plan to. It was Thanksgiving and Christmas time for the Arsenal families and they were celebrating the recent safe recovery of several of their members as well as Rebecca “Momma” Mason. Momma had been severely injured in a car accident and everyone was thankful for her continued recovery. Even though I had not read the previous books, Ms. Carnes provided enough back story about the various characters and what they had been through to not only keep me involved as well as make me want to read their full stories. Ms. Carnes female characters were women who learned to defend themselves and not rely on someone else to save them and men who are strong and have found their special “one”. I enjoyed this brief look at “The Arsenal” and I always enjoy finding a new author’s work to read. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. Everyone is getting ready for the holidays. They want this year to be special. Momma Mason is healing from the accident. They also found out the boys have no idea who Santa is. Ellie has made jelly and cookies for everyone. Jesse is not happy. Will he ever let the past go and let his feelings take over?
