So many things resonated with me with this book and the author right from the start and I’ve already started to make positive changes in my own life thanks to this book.
Nancy's questions and exercises are essential for the brave soul who is willing to undertake the transformational journey outlined in the book.
This is a guide to come back to ourselves and love ourselves FIRST and foremost. It's a game-changer and I honestly believe it will help so many people - hopefully you, too, when you pick it up! This book really helped me look at relationships in a different way. It helped me take personal responsibility for my relationships by first looking at my past significant other relationships and then redefining for myself what's important to me in a significant other relationship.
It also helped me have a voice in my relationship and it helped me understand the most important relationship I will ever have is the one with myself.
As a woman I think we shoulder many burdens of responsibility – doing the brunt of the housework and childrearing and thinking and planning. But why do we do this? Nancy really makes you stop and think about all the tasks you do and why you do them. Could the load be shared?
Honestly, I thought my head might fall off while reading this book I was nodding along so enthusiastically had she written it about me personally?
I’ve had quite a few conversations with my husband after reading this book and we’ve decided to make some changes that will benefit the household but quite honestly mainly me and our relationship.
Nancy has made me really think about the reasons why women do so much and that actually it’s totally ok to ask for help and to delegate in fact we should be doing this so that we can have some time for ourselves and our partners and children can do their fair share too.
I will be keeping this book handy as I will be going back to it particularly when I return to work full-time when my maternity leave ends.
I’m hopeful that my relationship with my husband and myself will continue to grow and improve my utilising the advice within this book.
Marianne’s book is so easy to read and is jammed with simple advice and tips of how to make improvements in busy lives. Making ourselves and others accountable is key, and one of the exercises around challenges overcome in the last 5 years was a truly eye-opening experience, reminding me that actually I’m pretty awesome!
