This is an excellent book for anyone who is interested in the early days of Los Angeles. It has several stories regarding the beginnings of what is now Wilshire Blvd. The street is named after Gaylord Wilshire who was a very prominant socialist during the early part of the last century.
Ooh! No one on Goodreads has read this book? Cool. A quite comprehensive history of Los Angeles--in particular, Wilshire Boulevard--written in 1949. It can be a bit dry, but still a good read if you're into this topic, as I am. Because of its age, it's interesting to read the author's various predictions about the future of L. A. Also, since the writer is probably dead by now, it's pointless to tell him to learn how to use commas, but oy! I had to mentally insert them all over the place.
