This small book aims to make the mammoth book of Isaiah accessible to everyone. Due to both the size and the structure of Isaiah the Bible reader often finds it difficult to fit individual verses and chapters into its overall flow. In five brief chapters this book moves the reader through the big picture of Isaiah, pausing along the way to point out possibly unexplored vistas and bringing Isaiah's message to bear on our everyday lives. The reader of this small book will soon enjoy a clearer understanding of Isaiah's prophecy and, more importantly, a grander vision of Isaiah's God.
S. D. Ellison currently lives in Antrim, Northern Ireland with his wife Tracy. Together they love political satire, reading, and drinking copious amounts of tea. Davy completed his Bachelor of Divinity in 2013 (University of Chester/Irish Baptist College) and Master of Theology in 2016 (Queen’s University, Belfast/Irish Baptist College). He is currently undertaking doctoral studies with Queen’s University, Belfast and the Irish Baptist College in Old Testament Biblical studies. Walks through meta-narrative of Isaiah in 5 movements. I think it’s best read in companion with the Bible if you read the chapter on each movement before you read that big section of Isaiah.
We’ve been through a guided Bible study over many weeks with our pastor referencing this book on several occasions The division of the book of Isaiah into five sections Mr Ellison has used has made it easier to understand the many chapters of this book I would recommend it as a useful resource for getting into an understanding and enjoying the purposes of Isaiah
This was my second book by the author. This little book would be a great introduction and overview of the Book of Isaiah. Yes it is to read and would be the sort of book that I could give to those I work with to help them be introduced to the Book of Isaiah before recommending they go into a deeper commentary of Isaiah. I loved many of the illustrations the author used to explain parts of the movements in Isaiah as he calls them. I would recommend this overview of Isaiah to many a young Christian our study/growth/house groups to use in their times of study.
