Foundations of Community Health Nursing: Community-Oriented Practice

Rate this book
Based on the 5th edition of the market-leading Community and
Public Health Nursing , our new text - Foundations of Community
and Public Health Community Oriented Practice - offers
the same community-oriented focus but covers only the essential
content that ADN and BSN students need. Marcia Stanhope and
Jeanette Lancaster have retained the best of the 5th edition of the
larger text, but presented it in a streamlined and concise format.
As health care services have moved into community settings,
nursing education at all levels is putting more emphasis on
community nursing care. The community-oriented focus of this new
text emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention. The goal
of community-oriented community health nursing is to preserve,
protect, promote, or maintain health through the care provided to
individuals, families, and groups in the community. The various
roles a community health nurse might undertake are discussed in a
separate unit. Another unit discusses the care of vulnerable
populations in the community. Family and individual care is also the
focus of a separate unit. Practical application of concepts is
highlighted throughout the text through the How To, Evidence
Based Practice, and Clinical Application features. An attractive two
color design with many features similar to those in the 5th edition of
the larger text presents the content in an accessible and engaging
format.
