Paranormal World #3

Mystic Awakenings

Rate this book
We have to save all paranormal kind before it’s too late.

Things were hard enough before, but now that the Original Soulmates are targeting my friends and I… well, things are downright dire.

There are some sights you can never unsee. Visions of my brother, my chosen mate, and my friends meeting their individual gruesome ends? That is something that will stay with me forever. The Originals made me experience the faux tragedies and their message is clear--do things our way or they all die.

The problem is that doing things their way could lead to the genocide of all non-gifted humans and suppression of all paranormals. That’s just not something my group and I can accept. Even if it puts our life at risk, we have to fight for the future--our own and the humans.

But when a sickness arises, driving magical creatures to madness and murder, our attention is divided. The Originals. Their Followers. The sickness. We definitely have our work cut out for us.

So many people to save… so little time to save them.

Author's note: The first four books and two novellas of this New Adult series are part of The Soulmate Saga. There will be some cliffhangers.

The group we've come to know and love have gone through so much just to get here, and they're nowhere near done!

They finally understand who is after them and why. The whole soulmate thing turned out to be a real problem since, as they say in the Highlander, There Can Be Only One! Or, only one pair anyway. And the last pair? They're not ready to give up their reign.

Both soulmate pairings have built the best armies they can, anticipating war, when a virus, or something, has been hitting all the paranormals. And the paranormals only. Between having to figure out where that came from, getting kicked out of human-only towns, and trying to reconcile being soulmates with someone who isn't really your soulmate, Amina has her hands full, and while Phillip has been trying a little harder to help out, he's still Phillip. The rest of the group are doing their darndest to help in every way possible, but the soulmates are ultimately the ones who need to get it together enough to get the job done. But where does that leave Erik, if Amina is supposed to accept the role of soulmate to Phillip? Ahh, the questions that arise, so deep and so many.

There are divisions between paranormal groups, divisions with the humans and the paranormals, and everything seems to be in chaos, which is possibly just where the original soulmates want things. And if that's the case, how does the group (the Six and the other strays they've picked up along the way) manage to keep the original soulmates at bay, while fighting a deadly virus and trying to find their place in this specialized group that is destined to save the world?

Well, here you'll start to see how they handle it. You'll get a taste of what they're up against. And you'll agonize right along with them when things don't always work out well. It is so action-packed, such an emotional volume, that there's no stopping until you've reached the last page. This story is just getting better and more engaging with each new installment.

With such world-building and such character development, there's no way to keep from getting caught up in this storyline. And caught I am. Still so much to happen, so much going on. It's a full-bodied storyline that just might go on as one of those series that you just can't wait for the next one to come out. Because I'm already there! And I never want it to end!

You've done an amazing job building this series, Catherine, and I, for one, will be waiting for each and every one to come. Very Well Done, CC Solomon! Very Well Done indeed!

**SPOILERS BELOW**
I was hooked before the first chapter started, and it got even better from there. C.C kept me on my toes throughout the whole book. Just when I thought I knew where it was headed she flipped it, I was pleasantly surprised. This is the third book in the series and I'm still team Amina and Phillip. I hope they can rekindke their spark (sorry Erik). Amina questioned herself a lot in this book and, to me, it made her more relatable. I love Phillip and his growth as well, and would love to see him happy. I have mixed feelings about there being another book, happy that I get more of the story (hopefully a book about where Lisa took Joo-won) but damnit I wanted to see Amina and Phillip together!

I started with this one, so I was a bit confused in places but the author explains enough to keep up. Plenty of twists to keep you interested. Kind of a post apocalyptic with action and mystery. Good mix of magic, werewolves and other. I'm excited to read the rest of the series now.

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

The first two books in this series had numerous issues. Everything from spelling to a scattered and uneven timeline and though the plot seemed erratic, the story behind all the flubs was quite interesting and compelling enough that it made me want to keep reading to find out what would happen. This third book in the series is much better (the Pre-World timeline still needs a lot of work because the ages aren't adding up and became even muddier than they were in the first two books).

I love the take on magical powers and the diversity of everyone. You have all shades, shapes, skin tones, and sexualities. There are also, vampires, witches, were-folk (hyenas, jackals, etc) gargoyles and other paranormal types along with a healthy dose of non-paranormal humans.

I managed to read the first three in the series within 3 days. So, if paranormal is your thing, this is a quick, engaging, and easy read that I highly recommend.

This is the third book about Amina, her soul mate, and the 6- paranormals that have come together because they are foretold to save the world. Lots of things going on- Seth is now in charge of Silver Springs, Amina is charged to care for a child, Philip is falling in love with someone else, the original soulmates are causing problems, and there’s a disease ravaging paranormals. A few things are resolved but so many more unanswered questions, leaving cliffhangers for the next book. The series is told from Amina’s perspective, and although she seems pretty level headed and factual, it makes for a dry read and very 2D supporting characters. I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Book 3

I lowered my rating on this book in the series because, honestly, the FMC got on my nerves with her insecurity. She’s a “bad bitch,” yet she kept whining and fretting. Also she repeatedly made irrational choices. Who stops to ask questions, ALOUD, in the middle of a fight?!
I dislike when author’s use the strong, woman lead’s insecurity and/or anxiety to create tension. She can be a powerful, confident entity and the suspense come from facing an evenly matched adversary. That would require her to level up in order to prevail.
Nonetheless, I am enjoying the series and look forward to the next book.

Answers, adventures, battles and brotberhood

This is such an engrossing series. I can't wait to find out what happens next to the Six and their supporters. War is coming. In this installment The Six solidify their connection, find out more about what is coming, discover new capabilities and new alliances and prepare

Slow Moving

Maybe it was me but this took a moment for me to get into. I appreciate the cliffhanger. For those of us who have been reading the series some of the background catch up could have been avoided.
Great plots and twists. Not sure this gonna wrap up in book 4. Looking forward to seeing how this goes.

Third book in this series & Amina is no stronger than she was in the first book. Theres way too much conflict going on & some of it has carried over from the previous books & there is no resolution in sight. The author just keeps adding more & more problems. Idk why I keep reading this series, its really shit from the butt. I guess I just want to see how it ends.

Highly recommend!

Love Amina and the six. Truly hope for a HEA but this is post apocalyptic. I hope Amina and Eric have lots of psychic, we’re-Jackal babies and live in harmony with all their friends. LoL!
