I stumbled across a homily entitled: "These Things I Wish for You", written by Lee Pitts, popularized by Paul Harvey. It's a grandfather's wish for his grandchildren. Here's three excerpts that struck a chord ...

"May you learn to appreciate the magic of a firefly and the majesty of a mountain."

"I hope you get a black eye fighting for something you believe in."

"I sure hope that you take the time to sit on a porch with your grandpa or to go fishing with your uncle."

I bought the book to read the full version, along with *why* the author wishes these things for the next generation. It's a fast, powerful, poignant, reflective and emotive must read.

I wanted to read this collection of essays after I learned that this was the author who penned the popular "These Things I Wish For You" essay that was read by Paul Harvey.

The book turned out to be a great collection of musings on a simpler life. Reminded me of the song, "My Wish" by Rascal Flats.

I wish I lived in Mayberry! ;-)

Anecdotes of people who live in rural America - of all races. It's a skinny book that makes you look for more stuff like it.
