When boundaries are broken, love is put to the test…

Ronny, the owner of a large cosmetics company and student in a course on art, is swept into a serious adventure, when an ordinary tour around Switzerland leads him and another student named Ariella into a global conspiracy that could shatter his world and project of a lifetime to pieces.

While Ronny is far away from home, his wife, Suzy, who misses him terribly, finds herself in a troublesome situation with Shuki, an agent in the cosmetics industry.

Shuki covets Suzy and envies the couple’s success and is willing to go to any lengths to get her. When he realizes his efforts are about to fail, he decides to step up his obsessive pursuit of her by breaking all the limits.

When Ronny returns to Suzy’s arms, himself having gone through a shaking experience with Ariella, it dawns on him things have changed and he must make a difficult decision—is his love for Suzy strong enough to keep them together or perhaps it is time to part and go on new and separate paths?

Is a great book. Not for the faint of heart with some of the things in it. (Rape and adultery being the main parts that some people will not like). But otherwise a very good book even with those two parts in it. It highlights some difficulties in many relationships and why people do what they do. For instance what this couple ends up doing with none the wiser to their misguided deeds.
Where Ronnie misses his wife, while out doing what he needs to get done for his wife's and his company. He finds that not is all greener in the other field. And also a new discovery could rock the company's world into shambles if not dealt with.
Suzie misses her husband dearly while he is away. And wonders why it seems like he's pulled away from their relationship. Is it her? And in turn she finds out that not everyone is her friend or has her best interest at heart.

This is the first time in reading this author. Ronny at first then later accompanied by Ariella that spin this tale having us get caught up into the suspense. Things could really go to pieces as it is said. Ronny has a wife Suzy whom someone else wants and tries to make so while he is away. When he comes back he will walk into more than a overflowing plate of life. He will also have many decisions to make while we waited to see what paths this goes into. As a first one of this author's is was good but did a couple of times I looked away.

Well I struggled with this book I really wanted to like it Read all the rave reviews etc and then started to read it. I was pretty much horrified with the casual sex on both partners part and really savoir faire attitude towards how they could be hurting each other and their family...the plot was not bad but was superceded by the husband and wife who seemed to be hurtling out of control. Just not my cup of tea.

This was an interesting book to say the least (and not in a good way for me). I wanted to like this book more than I did but I couldn't get into it that much. It lacked something and there were plenty of things I just didn't agree with. I would give it a 2.5 out of 5. There were some good parts that's why I didn't rate it down and rated it up I am sure that others would enjoy this book unlike me.

Challenging, and choosing, bonds

Israeli author Daniel Shahar-Szichman is an optometrist, artist, musician, businessman, and, further, has studied economics and sociology! Having written short stories and poetry, BENEATH OUR SKIN is his debut novel

The depth of Daniel’s professional and recreational interests allow him access to solid story, character and scenic development as is early on apparent in the development of this excellent romantic drama: “Ronnie turned over on his side, trying to get into a more comfortable position. Outside, the wind was blowing the rain against the blinds; big drops burst one after another as though each one wanted to make itself heard despite the raging storm. The pleasant sounds of Chopin’s Nocturnes played through the speakers on both sides of the double bed, calming his mind and sheltering him against the stormy weather…His green eyes glanced at the big mirror, which reflected his naked body back at him. He had maintained his athletic build, a memory of those distant days when he had served in an elite IDF unit…’ This degree of precise and engaging writing persists on every page of this fine novel.

The theme of challenged relationships may not be new, but the manner in which Daniel manages to present both sides of such a situation is more perceptive than most. He offers a fine synopsis: ‘Amazon: Ronny, the owner of a large cosmetics company and student in a course on art, is swept into a serious adventure, when an ordinary tour around Switzerland leads him and another student named Ariella into a global conspiracy that could shatter his world and project of a lifetime to pieces. When Ronny returns to Suzy’s arms, himself having gone through a shaking experience with Ariella, it dawns on him things have changed and he must make a difficult decision—is his love for Suzy strong enough to keep them together or perhaps it is time to part and go on new and separate paths?’

Reading this novel is akin to attending a symphonic concert hall performance: the pleasures are immediate, involving and satisfying, and the afterward impression is wholly memorable. Very fine writing from an author with a future!
