In this inspiring work, a venerable Tibetan monk draws on two classic Buddhist texts to present a range of techniques for beneficially transforming our minds. Arguing that one cannot attain awakening, or the complete cessation of all suffering, without the great key of compassion, Geshe Gyeltsen provides much practical advice on how to combat negative mental states and conditioning. Through the rigorous application of "thought training" and the cultivation of the bodhisattva's altruistic attitude, we can learn to transform both ourselves and the environment around us. In this way, our own suffering and the suffering of others can eventually be left far behind.
