Rate this book
Carly Turnquist, forensic accountant, embarks on a working vacation with husband Mike -- working for him, vacation for her. But Carly's nose for mysteries means she can't even get off the airplane without nosing out one dead body just five rows ahead of her. And when the situation on the dude ranch they're visiting progresses from veiled threats and a long ago unsolved murder to missing staff, missing ranch stock and inventory, and a dead body, Carly's got her work cut out for her.

I was given a paperback copy of the book and asked to post a review. The following is my honest opinion. I will skip a synopsis because I feel the one in the book description is accurate.
I was frustrated with this book. I had problems with the plausibility of the plot, especially because of the timeline. I am trying to avoid any spoilers here, but I am left wondering how the evidence of the bank robbery that Carly saw disappeared? The getaway car hit some things on the street. Who cleaned things up? Shots were fired in front of a bank and no one else heard it? How small is this town?
The book has numerous grammatical errors. Also, at least a couple of times, one character was mistakenly referred to by his son’s name. I can recall at least two times when the reader was told one thing about a situation/person and it was later changed in the plot. One example was when we were told a young man had met a woman he did not know and she encouraged him to do something. Later, we are told that the woman is the man’s aunt and he is referred to by a different name. We are given no explanation as to the discrepancy.
I wanted to like this book. The book is a clean read. The main characters are nice people. There are moments of light humor. I appreciate receiving the book and I also am appreciative of the hard work that goes into writing these books. I feel that this book would have been better if the editing issue had been addressed.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and I certainly look forward to reading more by her. This is the third book in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. This is fast paced mystery with wonderful characters that I thoroughly enjoyed and that kept me reading to see what could possibly happen next. I definitely look forward to following super sleuth Caryl's escapades in the other books in the series. I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review, and this is a delightful read that I definitely recommend.

I enjoyed the first book in the series. This one I really loved. Getting to know Carly and her husband Mike is a treat. They're such a cute couple. Carly always seems to find trouble around the corner (and just has to investigate) and Mike good naturedly plays along with her. And finds out her hunches are usually right. I enjoy their middle age still-like-newlywds relationship and the adventures they have. I received a copy of this book from the author which did not affect my review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
