Give Me a Christmas

Rate this book
She wanted to escape Christmas…

Iris booked a skiing vacation in Switzerland to avoid her controlling parents’ Christmas plans. But now her travel companion is sick and she’s all alone – and freezing – in a “rustic” mountain shack. The last thing she needs is her gorgeous billionaire ex-boyfriend turning up and seeing her dressed in pajamas and fuzzy socks.

He wanted a second chance…

Finn’s mom is sick, and no amount of money he throws at her treatments can change that. Her dying wish is for Finn to find love. If bringing his childhood sweetheart home for the holidays will make her happy, then he’ll do it. Even if it means flying coach to Europe and sleeping on a lumpy couch. He never really got over Iris, and seeing her again only strengthens his resolve to win her back. Trouble is, she’s now angry at him and refusing to budge.

A storm is brewing, and it’ll bring more than just snow…

As their love rekindles, Iris will need to open up to Finn – but some secrets aren’t hers to share, and trusting him takes a leap of faith. Finn’s life is too different from hers, and she’s not sure she fits into it. But he won’t let her run away so easily this time.

Give Me a Christmas is a clean holiday romance that’ll take you to the snowy slopes of Switzerland and give you that delicious and cozy Christmas feel.

Too Much Emphasis on Heroine’s Side Story

WARNING: Some spoilers

I am not quite sure what I think about this book. I liked the hero and the heroine as characters. But the romantic story felt disjointed and rushed to me, almost as if it were two or more different stories that weren't quite interwoven as well as they should have been. This is a second-chance-at-romance book. I didn't feel like the romantic aspect was given enough time to grow and evolve in a natural fashion. I also had a hard time buying the heroine’s choice at about the two-thirds mark; she had worked so hard to have Christmas away from her toxic parents, why wouldn't she try to convince Finn to stay on in Switzerland rather than them both go back because he had a plane to catch? Given all that we had learned about her family dynamic, I found it to be a surprising and nonsensical choice. and she didn't even discuss options with Finn. Then, of course, once they were back Stateside, the story shifted to being more about the parents than the romance. The story just did not gel for me.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

An emotional second chance romance. 💞❤️😥💞

Iris and her best friend, Sam, were supposed to go to Switzerland for the Christmas holidays but then Sam came down with bronchitis and couldn't go. At first, Iris wasn't going to go but then Sam convinced her to go and take the time to relax and meet someone. Finally, Iris goes but the cabin they rented is more like a shack and the owner won't fix anything, including the hot water. But she figures she'll make do and finish her grant paper... with the added bonus of avoiding her parents for the holidays.

Finn is willing to do just about anything to make his dying mother happy because he loves her. But flying to Switzerland to bring back his ex, Iris, so she can spend the holidays with her family seems a bit much. But he agrees to at least fly over and talk to her to see if she wants to come home early. But Finn doesn't know her family as well as he thought he did and they might just destroy his relationship with Iris for the last time. 💗🔥💕

There were times I had to put my Kindle down because I was crying so much, I could see. But it was so good! 🥰

This is a well written romance about family and external pressures and whether a love is strong enough to stand up to it

Iris not only had the parents from hell but they where controlling and had no idea of personnel boundaries It was there way always. They tried to control all aspects of her life including her romance with her ex Finn. Now she has made an escape and headed of to Switzerland for her Christmas break. Her parents are at it again they have sent Finn after her. When Finn finds her cold and almost frozen in a rustic cabin he realises straight away that he still has feeling for her. Can they form a bond that is their's alone Can they separate from her parents and do they have a chance at love You will have to read to see

Finn and Iris are in for more than they could ever bargain for. Finns mom is sick and she urges him to find Iris and bring her home for the holidays. They didn’t part on the best of terms but maybe time has healed that wound. These two end up in the middle of a storm and only they can calm it. Excellent writing with an explosive storyline. 😀😀😀

Such a heartwarming book about second chances and second chance romances. It kind of brought a tear to your eye at the end but it had a happily ever after for the characters.

This is romantic, interesting and dramatic. Iris and Finn were neighbors, then briefly dated after college, until Iris suddenly ended it. Now, 10 years later, Iris's parents convince Finn's parents to send Finn to Switzerland to bring ger home. She went to Switzerland to avoid them, because they're controlling, manipulative and homophobic. Iris is enraged at her parents and Finn for intruding into her vacation, and tells him to leave. Onky he can't, he's snowed in. They eventually talk, and decide to try again. They didn't make it long before her parents intrude again. Poor Finn had been trying to help her before, but she made a snap decision, and refused to even tell him why she was breaking up with him. I really liked Finn, he's sweet, generous and humble. Iris is very impulsive and stubborn, to her detriment. I loved the book.

Iris and Finn were together years ago and Iris's walked away, it broke her heart but she felt she had to, now Finn turns up in the middle of nowhere to check in on her and it's time for truths to be told and a second chance at love. However Iris's manipulative and selfish parents who interfered in her past and continue to do are upping the ante and you are just hope that Finn can show her he loves her and her opinions matter along with the fact Iris deserves a loving family like Finns!! 💘

Great Christmas bike!

Definitely a feel good book. There was a lot of family drama but the HEA made up for everything.

Can’t wait to read more by this author.

I wasn’t expecting Iris to be so normal. By that I mean, she has a regular teaching job, she gets by but isn’t making millions and she’s working towards her career dreams. This type of character just didn’t add up to me when the blurb said she had a billionaire ex-boyfriend.

Normally in romances if billionaires are involved, they are dating each other, or the whole point of the story is that they unexpectedly get to know someone regular and end up together. You don’t normally find stories where there’s already history with the ex!

The fact that Finn seems to have grown up since they were together feels like a good thing. Iris is constantly surprised by it and struggles to accept that he’s being genuine. Which is totally understandable.

Zoe does an amazing job of drip feeding us bits and pieces of their past which kept me hooked. I wanted to know what happened between them, why did they break up, how long were they together for, is the dispute with the parents really as bad as it’s made out to be, how will Finn react when he finds out etc etc etc.

I was left hanging to the end to get all my questions answered. Although Zoe kept you on the line by answering one or two questions at a time, while raising more. I wasn’t left feeling like it was a rush to answer all the questions at the end, but I was still kept hooked.

I’d say this is one of her better sweet romances, and I think that comes down to her maturity as a writer developing now that she’s got a few books published in this genre. I feel like (and I’m not a writer so I don’t know for sure) it’s easier to create the right kind of drama in a paranormal romance compared to a sweet romance. So I can understand why it took Zoe a few books to find that groove and settle into it.

Give Me a Christmas by Zoe Ashwood
Billionaires Aboard #3

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Give Me a Christmas, and for that I’m very grateful. Release Date is 17/10/19!
.
“Her past was standing at the door, demanding entrance. She had no choice but to let him in.”

Give Me a Christmas is a second chance romance with an amazingly sweet ending. This book is about a young woman named Iris, who with her best friend made the last minutes decision to spend Christmas in Switzerland.

Then a few days before they are due to leave her best friend comes down with the flu which leads to Iris travelling alone. Now being alone in a new country is one this but when your up on the mountain with no one close by, the last thing you expect is for someone to knockout your door. Least of all your Ex.

Finn has made so much money in his life he’s almost not sure what to do with it, but sometimes having all the money is it’s enough as it can’t buy one of the only things he wants, he’s mums health. So when she asks him to travel half way around the world, of course he’s going to do it but what he doesn’t expect is for it to be the most important trip of his life.

I absolutely loved this book, it’s sweet, charming and something you could read it one go! Make sure you get your copy tomorrow when it’s live, it won’t disappoint!

Iris will do whatever it takes to avoid Christmas, especially if it includes spending it with her controling parents. Now she finds herself half freezing to death in what was advertised as a 'rustic' cabin with another person she doesn't want to see standing at her door. When Iris broke up with Finn eight years ago she'd hoped to never see him again.

Fate seems to have something else in mind.

In an attempt to passify both families Finn is in Switzerland to check on Iris but once he sees her the love he'd had comes racing forward again and all he can think of is getting to the bottom of why she broke up with him in the first place. But will Iris's manipulative and controlling parents ruin another chance for her to find happiness?

I received an ARC and voluntarily offer this review.

Finn and Iris have broke up ten years ago, although Finn is not exactly sure why. Now ten years later at Christmas, Finn is sent to retrieve Iris from her stay in Switzerland. He thinks he is on a type of rescue mission, but he soon learns that isn't the case and that he and his parents were mislead by Iris' parents. He also learns what happened the first time around. This book made me cheer, laugh, curse and cry and not in that order(LOL). It shows that there is more than one way to make a family and that some people can change. This was another lovely addition to Ms. Woods "Give Me" series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Finn and Iris had lived next to each other growing up. They even had become a couple. When they broke up they stayed away from each other.

Iris’s best friend Sam was going to go to Switzerland with her for the holidays. Sam got sick and insisted on Iris going anyway. Iris’s parents were controlling and found out where she went.

They convinced Finn’s parents to have him go and bring her home.

What kind of reception will she give him? How will she feel about her parents and the way they interfere? Can they overcome their past and find love again?

You will have to read to find out!!!!

Will it be a second chance for Iris and Finn?
Iris heads to Switzerland to avoid her terrible parents’ interference, but somehow, they find out where she went. They figured out how to get her back home, they thought, by getting their neighbors to have their son, Finn, go get her and bring her back to the US. When Finn shows up, he is unaware of their manipulation; but once he sees her, he really wants a chance to get back with her. His arrival comes with heavy snow fall, and he’s stuck with no place to stay, so goes back to her cabin and asks if he can stay with her. The story has a HEA ending, and I found it well written book. I highly recommend it.

Such a beautiful story of a special love and second chances. Also a look at the toxicity of family relationships that can pull a family apart at the core. Iris has cut all ties with her parents after their blatant disregard of Violet, her older sister. This author has created multiple family situations in this book that will make the reader stop and think about their own viewpoints and treatment of these issues. A very good, well edited book that I recommend.

I received an ARC copy of the book. However, this is my voluntary, honest and completely personal review.

Iris has parents who are toxic - controlling and bigot, who try to rule her life. She finally broke off most of the contact with them 5 years earlier, after a big fight.
Now it is Christmas season and she goes to Switzerland. Sadly alone, as her bestie is sick, she does not expect her ex-boyfriend to be at her door one evening.
A simple love story of second chances, but over-shadowed by the machinations of Iris' parents.
A nice story - fairly up-beat and easy to read.

Finn and Iris were young when they dated before and he expected her to alter her life and dreams to fit into his. They’ve both grown in their years apart and are willing to bend more for each other’s happiness. But her toxic parents with their bigotry and manipulations and misunderstandings may come between them. I loved her grandfather, friend Sam, and sister Violet. They were all tough and funny. Sam definitely deserves her own romance. This was a clean and funny second chance Christmas Romance.

Zoe Woods has penned another romantic read. This book would perfect for an afternoon reading by the fire. Get some hot chocolate and a cozy blanket and snuggle up with this story. Can this couple who broke up ten years ago resolve the differences that drove them apart then? Iris and Finn loved each other once. Read this story to find out whether it is possible for a fresh start with the person who broke your heart.

Can I tell you how much I love a good second chance romance and that’s exactly what Iris and Finn’s story is. After growing up as neighbors, Iris and Finn fall into a relationship at the cusp of adulthood. But when things change in Iris’ life, she breaks the heart of the man she loves by splitting up with him.

Years pass and Finn is recruited right before Christmas to bring Iris home. Except Finn’s heart never really recovered from losing Iris.

Snowed in together, Give Me a Christmas is a sweet romance about lost love, second chances, and family secrets.

A clean Christmas romance. A woman with really bad parents and a man with really nice parents once were in love but haven't seen each other for years. Will he find out why she left him? Is there any hope for them? His dying Mom ask him to find Iris and bring her home for Christmas. I really enjoyed my ARC copy of this book and think you will too. It might make you thankful that your parents aren't like Iris' parents.

This is a sweet Christmas romance when Finns mother urges him to go after Iris and bring her back for the holiday. They broke up when all he could only focus on was his business and money but when her parents tell him she has traveled to Switzerland for the holiday he goes to bring her back and hopes she will give him a second chance. Lovely story with great characters.

This was a second chance with a touch of snow.

A beautiful love story which showed that with age comes better understanding. The very requirement for a successful relationship.

Their love story was not without some issues, I could totally relate to how she felt. And I’m so glad she never backed down and stood her ground when it came to her family.

Well worth the read.

I received this as an arc and I am giving my honest review voluntarily

Book three in the Billionaires Abroad series a well written story about a second chance between Finn and Iris. They will have so much to overcome, her parents being one of them, secrets Iris is not at liberty to tell as they are not really hers. I enjoyed reading this Christmas story from the first to the last page. I hope there are more books to come in this series. I so enjoyed Iris and Finn’s story! It's a good sweet holiday read as well as second chance story! It's a touch emotional and so worth reading. She is suppose to go to Switzerland with her best friend but he ends up sick and cannot go. She is convinced to go on the trip by herself. Finn, is on a mission to bring Iris home because of his mother. What a journey and holiday these two have.

Second chance for love

Finding your young love again Iris & Finn realize they have always loved each other. Iris was trying to protect him from her dysfunctional family. They grow up as neighbors, but Finn never realized how controlling they were and the fear she had of them. Zoe wrote their love story beautifully and captured the family dynamics; however, love won.
