This was a quick book that takes place in Hawaii. It was okay. The characters were very dull and not engaging. The mystery part was okay but it sure didn't make me want to read more in this series.
Got this book for free as im in the emailing list !! I think it was fun to read as it's super short and going straight to the point, but it was a bit hard to get into itt ;;; maybe too much details on stuff that doesn't need it?
You had me at Hawai`i. A cozy based in Hawai`i? Yes, please. Fun little cozy novella to introduce me to Detective Chrissy and her friends on her birthday getaway to paradise. Unfortunately murder does not take a vacation even in paradise and her investigating radar immediately goes into effect trying to solve the case before leaving.
Christie Lilith Watson, a homicide detective on sabbatical from the Boston PD), is in Honolulu, Hawaii, enjoying a once-in-a-lifetime birthday trip courtesy of her friends Griselda, Missi, and Vee. While on a yacht tour of the water, the four friends witness a crazy argument over shrimp cocktail between two young men and when one ends up dead and washed up on the beach near their hotel, Christie can’t help but snoop when the local police don’t seem to give the murder much attention.
Nice little “behind-the-scenes” story related to the Burger Bar Mysteries featuring fun, snappy dialogue, and attitude with series regulars.
The story was neatly wrapped...as Chris was regaling the tale of what had gone down to her three friends: Missi, Vee, and Grizzy at the hotel in the restaurant...her seizing hold of Delilah who was going to attack Maleko with a baseball bat...Chris was able to knock the baseball bat out of her hands and instruct Maleko to get rope so they could tie her up until the police showed. It is another case closed. And Chris could not wait to return to Sleepy Creek where there seems to be more murders than burgers at Griselda's Burger Bar. -------- This story reads like an Agatha Christie short story of who did it and why.
This was a so-so read. Very short story about 65 pages. I had read one of her other books (pizza parlor) and thought it was good, but this just did not hold my interest. I am not sure where this would have fit into the Burger Bar series, but it doesn't seem to be a lead into the series but somewhere in the midst of it. I admit I haven't read any of that series.
I did not find any of the characters particularly interesting. I felt that this was not so much a mystery but just a random murder, and the motive was pretty weak. But like I mentioned it was a short story, so there probably wasn't enough time to create much. Probably better for a YA than for me.
*I received this book for free through Signing up to the authors newsletter.* I enjoyed this short story. This book is only 9 chapters and throughout reading I was also trying to solve the mystery. However, from the beginning I had part of it solved. There wasn’t much of a description throughout the book of what the characters saw. However with being a short story everything wrapped up in the end. I do understand that this is a spinoff from her Series. I have never read this author before but I would like to read another book. I gave this book three stars on the fact that I did enjoy it but I solved the mystery pretty early.
There are no trigger warnings for this and it's a very clean Cozy mystery.
This is a short story of A Detective and her 3 elderly best friends. They go on vacation in Hawaii only for the FMC to get caught up in a dinner cruise murder mystery. I have to admit the ending was a little surprising.
This would be great to expand upon and maybe add in a little romance. However, it is a great palat cleansing book between full Novels. It has many sentences that need restructuring and maybe even expanded upon. The first 4 chapters use the word "Dude" 17 times. This is to emphasize the stereotypical muscle bound idiots.
A fun quick read I between other longer reads. The storyline seemed to lack substance, and the characters were pretty boring. The book description was what pulled me in to want to read it, but as I delved further into the book, it became boring and lacked the mystery and suspense that I thought the book would have. I wanted to finish the book anyway to see if it became more interesting, but the book ended abruptly with quite a letdown. I am not sure I want to continue reading any more books by this author.
When I saw this book on the Burger Bar series page, I knew I didn’t have it yet so the only way to get it was from the author’s newsletter. This is technically book #4.5 since it follows Christie’s birthday in The Breakfast Burger Murder, so I’ve actually read it in the correct order, lol. Just picturing Missi doing cannonballs in the hotel pool was hilarious! Chris managed to find another murder to solve especially when the detective didn’t even seem interested. After a tiring showdown, Christie could relax with her gal pals and enjoy the rest of the vacation.
The first in a fun series of mysteries featuring one of my favorite things, Burgers! Plus, a spunky heroine that left me giggling in delight. I loved Christie and her humor, and her investigating sense of trying to solve the murder even on her vacation. The way the pieces turned around to pull out the killer's identity was something I didn't expect, and it was a very nice intro into the series, and I will definitely be reading more.
I got this book free for signing up for the authors newsletter. It was a very short read with only 9 chapters. If it wasn’t so short I probably would have stopped reading it. Other than eating there wasn’t much of a description of anything they were seeing, where they were going, or what they were doing on vacation. It lacked something to keep me interested for a longer period of time.
This book was well written, no glaring errors. However, it was not remotely engaging. I didn't care for the characters or become intrigued by the storyline. Fortunately this was a free sample and I will not be purchasing anything by this author.
The start of a great mystery series! Enjoyable characters, suspense, and a plot that keeps the pages turning! I've enjoyed other stories from this same series, and wanted to see how it all began! I'm very glad I did!
This is a quick read, it's a well written storyline and the characters are entertaining. I can't wait to read more from this author. I received this book as a Free copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Oh this “Burger Bar” installment was hilarious 😂‼️Appreciate the familiar faves….the irony! Nevertheless, The Hawaiian Burger Murder A Burger Bar Mystery Book - an additional bonus ebook novella. Its’ ambience was 🌴hullalicious🤭🤷🏾♀️! However, the book was just mediocre, an intriguing reading adventure but okay 🤭🤨‼️
Prequel to the series. For a prequel, I expected more background for the characters. This felt as though it was perhaps an "in between" story farther along in the series. But, an enjoyable read.
Update: I discovered this is a prequel for a spin off series. I have not read the original series.
Short story murder mystery. The characters are boring. I could not maintain focus. Some of the sentences made no sense to me - He totes ate the shrimp? Who names their children Virginia and Mississippi, and you live in Ohio. Hmmm!
"The Hawaiian Burger Murder" by Rose A. Point is a super quick cozy mystery. It was so quick I didn't have much time or clues to real pin down a suspect or motive. Still an enjoyable quick read.
I’m sure glad this was a prequel and very short. Even so I was tempted to not finishing it. Really not interesting at all. Characters uninteresting… not reading any more books in this series.
