From Introduction - I really enjoy doing research. There are so many books to read and pictures and maps to look at. As I was researching the book about Kennewick, I came across many maps, some that recurred in several books, and there were so many different ones that I had to figure a way to keep these references handy. I began copying each "keeper," with the page number and book where it was found, especially from material on inter-library loans, since I would have only one chance to see them. I own a lot of northwest history books, too, and found that copying saved me a lot of "thumbing" time. The file of copies grew fat, and one day I spent several hours putting the copies in chronological order. It occurred to me that such a book would be a great reference, a line drawing of history as it were. So here it is.
