"Moving into the Mainstream" reports the findings of the Bilingual Pupils Project to build up a picture of the teaching of English as a second language and the teaching of community languages in schools. It draws on national survey data to describe and illustrate the policies and practices of schools and LEAs with reference to language education in multilingual schools. In particular, sriking contrasts are drawn between the educational treatment of Welsh in Wales and of other minority languages in England.
