I heard about The Black Effect via Instagram, and the reviews were so excellent and intrigued me so much that I just had to give it a try. As a matter of fact, once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I thought the theme of the book was phenomenal and unlike any other polyamorous marriage theme books that I have previously read. It's about friendships, family, falling in love, and finding your voice. You will find a girl feeling lost in her new life while watching others obtain what she wants. Realizing that she doesn't even know who she is because she has never been able to explore it without the assistance of others. Then you have Nadir, who is a control freak and thinks that everything in his life is perfect and everyone is happy. What he thought he had under control was actually a facade, and in one single day, his world was turned upside down.
These two had a lot of growth to do, and the process wasn't easy; it was downright painful and bitter. Both were having to deal with their parent's manipulating the situation. The Black Effect was excellent! It had all the makings of a great novel; romance, betrayal, and loyalty. Lewis did a fantastic job telling their story and showing the growth of each individual in her book and how communicating and accepting that people can change will make for a peaceful and happier existence. I am so glad Book 2 was already out because I think I would have gone crazy if I had to wait for it.
